There are several metrics why Pini is a great place to shop. Customer Service Knowledge Community Involvement Value Leading off, their customer service is EXCELLENT. It's like they actually like to be there and their management treats them well. What a concept! Every time I go there, they are happy to help. I actually love shopping here because I love fixing things but the fine folks that work there are happy to help you too. I have gone there for many different projects ranging from home to auto. Whatever project I'm shopping for there is a knowledgeable associate there ready to help (also see not above willingness to help). Got a busted toilet? many associates know their stuff, have a sagging bumper that require the most obscure piece of hardware ever? Yep, the guys in hardware know whats up. One of the really cool things (I think) is that they have boy scouts, Girl Scouts, Associate BBQ and other events there to help community groups or to educate the community. A someone that pours a lot of time into community events, I appreciate that. (Buy some girl scout cookies or some popcorn next time lol). Lastly, there is a value aspect of shopping there that I like. Value is a metric that is tricky to measure. Some measure it by the lowest price found in a large warehouse like store. Ok, that's fair but I like to measure it in going in, getting what I need, getting out QUICKLY and wrapping up my project asap. I also appreciate that they occasionally send out coupons for things (I am NOT a coupon guy). With all that being said I think PINI is a superior shopping experience and a great way to support a community business. Enjoy!

I was very blessed to meet DON, who was working at the hardware/keys counter today. My task was to try to repair my "expandable garden hose" coupling. Don was amazing, highly skilled, eager to help, and he successfully repaired my garden hose. Thank you DON for your expertise, skill, patience, and persistence in repairing the 'the unrepairable' hose!!! And thank you PINI ACE HARDWARE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND PINI HARDWARE to anyone in Marin County, and southern Sonoma/Napa. It's well worth the drive!!!

The Tyler at the key counter so nice!

Hi-do you do color matching if I bring a paint chip?

Hi Raksha! Thank you for your question! As long as the paint chip is larger than the size of a quarter, we can color match for you! Feel free to contact a member of our team at 415-892-1577 for details of our color matching program.

Would this store do custom wood cuts? Are there any restrictions? Size, type of wood, type of cut?

Good Morning, sorry for the late reply...We can custom cut what lumber we have in stock, we are not a full lumber yard but carry 2x4's and wood trim which we can cut to size. We do have a charge of $.50 per cut. Thank you...

For this store cut glass?

Good Morning Julia, I am sorry but we do not cut glass here. If you are local to Novato you can use Old Town Glass or Novato Glass. Thank you for your question if you have any other needs please let us know. Thank you.

Has anyone purchased and had shower doors installed through Pini Ace Hardware(Schicker)?

Hi Lynne. I have had two installations by Schicker Shower door. One for a shower only and the other for a tub shower combination. The tub shower was a custom size. Their work was professional, and completed when they said they would. I own Pini and…

We had 2 questions , how much was it and did it come in other finishes. The "faucet guy" brought us over to the customer service counter and stated to look up the item we were interested in buying. The 2nd guy left and the "faucet guy went back to his computer to answer our question. Two minutes later another employee asked him for help on her computer. "Faucet guy" stopped helping us and went over to help his coworker. After several minutes he returned to us but was again interrupted by his coworker for hep with another customer. Once again he stopped helping us and went to her assistance. Now 15 minutes had passed and we still had no answer to our questions. We finally decided to heck with it and left. "Faucet guy" was still busy helping his associate with her customer. We went home found what we wanted on line at Amazon, got it cheaper and had it show up in 24 hours. If Jackson wants to keep in business they need to teach staff to handle one customer at a time. We will never go back.

Most of the employees only semi-understood their jobs (cash register, key-making, etc). Additionally, there was no one on duty "running the place". It was all very haphazard. When I got home, my new keys didn't work, so I went back today. It was the same scenario- a clown show. Hardly anyone working in the store around 10:15 am. I poked my head down every aisle, and only found one employee who was deep in conversation on her cell phone. I did find an employee that looked like he was just arriving to work, and he said he could help me with my keys. He then forgot to give me the original key back, and the new ones don't work...again. Simultaneously, another man became very frustrated with the cashier because the price wasn't ringing up correctly, and the cashier couldn't understand what the problem was. Meanwhile, I began to wonder, is there a manager at this place? I did notice a man in a button down Ace shirt sitting in the back room. I presume he was an owner or manager, but whatever his position, it was a shame he wasn't on the floor helping the employees better understand their jobs.

** 1/5 -- If I Could Give Negative Five Stars, I Would!**…read more I had an absolutely appalling customer service experience at the Home Depot in San Rafael on October 23, 2026. I approached an older male employee to ask whether he could cut a length of chain for me, since the chain was sold by the foot. He appeared visibly annoyed by my request but eventually agreed. When I politely asked for his recommendation on which chain would be appropriate for securing my gate, instead of offering any useful advice, he responded sarcastically: **"Why do you need a chain to lock your gate? Is someone going to rob your property? Is that what you think?"** I explained that my concern was safety and security. He then dismissively told me he didn't know what I needed and couldn't provide a recommendation. As if that wasn't inappropriate enough, he suddenly asked what I did for work, a completely irrelevant and intrusive question. When I told him I was a software engineer, he responded: **"Use your brain. You can decide yourself which chain lock you need."** I was absolutely stunned. The sheer arrogance of an employee who apparently believes that asking for product advice reflects a lack of intelligence is astonishing. If he considers himself too knowledgeable to answer a customer's basic question, perhaps he should reconsider working in a customer-facing position. Throughout this entire interaction, I remained calm, polite, and even smiled despite his increasingly sarcastic and condescending remarks. I never raised my voice, argued, or treated him disrespectfully. I was simply asking for assistance in selecting a chain to secure my gate. Since when is it acceptable for a Home Depot employee to insult a customer for asking for product advice? Customers visit home improvement stores precisely because they may need guidance selecting unfamiliar hardware and materials. **Being a software engineer doesn't mean I should automatically know which chain is suitable for securing a gate. That's why I asked someone working in the hardware department!** As an Asian woman, I found his hostile, condescending, and insulting treatment particularly disturbing. His behavior made me feel that I was being singled out and treated with disrespect because of MY RACE AND GENDER. I perceived his attitude as RACISTand DISCRIMINATORY. No customer should have to question whether they are being subjected to racial prejudice simply for asking an employee for assistance. I have shopped at home improvement stores for years, and I cannot recall ever being treated with such arrogance and contempt simply for asking for assistance. Home Depot management: Is this really the standard of customer service you expect your employees to provide? Customers should never be mocked, interrogated, or insulted for asking questions about products sold in your own store. **HOME DEPOT MANAGEMENT SHOULD TAKE THIS CONCERN SERIOUSLY AND INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT and address why an employee believes it is acceptable to mock, interrogate, and insult a customer seeking basic product advice.** I strongly urge management to investigate this incident and address this employee's unacceptable behavior. If I could give this experience negative five stars, I would. One star is already far too generous.

I stopped by ACE Hardware right before closing time and the two gentlemen working there helped me to find the miniature screw I needed to repair the key fob. My husband was picking up tools for a project and had been waiting in line for quite a while because a customer ahead of him was handling a return. We understood--these things happen. When another register finally opened, I moved over with him before another line formed. At that point, an older employee sharply told us, in front of everyone, "You two can just wait in line like everyone else!" My husband explained, "We were waiting." Another employee nearby immediately confirmed, "That's right, he was in line." Instead of simply acknowledging the misunderstanding, she responded, "Well, next time wait until you're called!"--loudly enough for everyone behind us to hear. Fortunately, another employee stepped in and helped us and was both kind and efficient. What makes the encounter particularly disappointing is that my husband is elderly and has difficulty standing for long periods. My moving quickly to the newly opened register was largely out of concern for him, not an attempt to jump ahead of anyone. We had also intended to ask Fairfax Lumber for an estimate on gravel for our parking area. After this experience, we'll probably take that part of our business elsewhere. It's unfortunate, because we've always thought highly of Fairfax Lumber. One unnecessarily rude encounter left a very bad taste in our mouths.

He was patient and focused, methodically working through options until he found exactly the right fit. His resourcefulness was genuinely impressive -- this wasn't a simple fix, and yet he approached it as a seasoned problem-solver who takes real pride in his work. Most importantly, he succeeded. I walked out of that store on my crutches, fully functional and completely relieved, all because Ricardo refused to give up on what might have seemed like a small problem to some, but was a very big deal to me. This is the kind of employee who defines a store's reputation.
