Interesting facts learned on fireflies: they like leafy dark areas, eat slugs, and snails and really lite up the park. Paved trail, not very long, perfect for quick walk or hike to explore the many trees. Family, everyone friendly.

This is such a beautiful park to enjoy a nice walk, jog, a bike ride or to go fishing (no spots to play sports of any kind here). There are a couple small grassy areas you can sit with a blanket and have a small picnic, eat lunch or bring your own lawn chair and enjoy a book. Plenty of benches to sit down, relax and enjoy the view of the water. In addition, the trees provide lots of shaded areas to appreciate as you walk through the paved trail on a hot summer day. Lastly, there are a lot of droppings from the geese (the children were stressing about avoiding it). I didn't see a playground during my walk but there is a very nice playground available for the children in front of the library that is located adjacent to the park entrance - you'll see it. I used my GPS to get here and parked at the courthouse parking lot, there was a path to where the trail starts - in my photos. Bring bug spray and sunblock in the summer and enjoy a stroll after a good meal. Rated this park four stars because I would probably only come back to take a walk if I'm already in the area but there's nothing here you absolutely have to see if you were visiting Buffalo. However, the park is beautiful and serene. If there was more to do or picnic tables for families to sit and eat, I would give it five stars.

I wish I knew how nice this park was before our senior dog's mobility became too limited. It's…read moremagical, between crossing the big wooden bridge over the creek to the happy dogs frolicking through the green shady island. There's even swings and a playground for the two legged puppers. I came to add some books to the free little library. I was amazed at how clean and well kept the grounds were. Visitors really stay on top of their dogs. I didn't see a single pile. Or maybe all the dogs just become like those kids who get too caught up in playing to take a bio break.

If you're one of those…read morepeople that goes out on the middle of a summer Saturday, your experience is probably getting docked a star, as the crowds make it hard to avoid the goose poop as you try not to run into other pedestrians. If you're me, and you're doing this at six am on a chilly Tuesday, it'll probably just be you and the fuzzy figure you can't make out in the near dark who is equally suspicious of you as you follow them down the trail. Okay, maybe that was just me, and thankfully with the forks in the paths to get closer to the river, I shook this mystery figure. The paint dividing the path is still vibrant, clearly marking where bicyclists should drive, like a split roadway. The pedestrians only get one lane to share, regardless of direction. That's always minorly irked me, but it's nothing a brief sidestep can't fix. I did the stretch from Tops to the Grand Island Bridge, which for any walking enthusiast, is enough to get your blood pumping. For the less enthused, there are many benches along the way. You could also perch yourself on the riverside and enjoy the beautiful view up close to watch the boats and ducks float by. Or, if you really want to do this right, nab a seat on the swing at the playground, provided there's no young'uns calling dibs first. If you're in it for the long haul, you can relieve yourself in one of the bathrooms stationed along the way. The toilet paper is way too sheer, but the sink actually has water that stays on (unlike other offenders with those wretched push for a ten second rush of water faucets that I've seen elsewhere) and the hand dryer actually does a good job of drying your hands. (Yes, I've also faced hand dryers that hardly dry, so this is worth the mention.) The path goes past the bridge, but even I have my limits. So I just circled back and enjoyed the multitude of dogs headed my way, because if you come out here, you'll see plenty. Time your walk right, and you'll get the five star experience. Or don't be me, and be a people person and keep that extra star on your summer Saturday stroll. Just don't forget the ice cream.

There's also a covered pavilion and water access. There's also a nearby veteran memorial. I wouldn't make a special trip for this park, but if you're in North Tonawanda, it's worth a visit, especially if you have kids who like to swing.

It was a great day to sit in our lawn chairs and look towards the sky. A giant octopus, some kites with really long tails, a parrot, a unicorn. Lots of colors and shapes. There was a tent for kids to make their own kites and a candy give-a-way, also for the kids. Surprised that I saw no food trucks, but they might have been at the other end of the field.

The road within the park could use a lot more than temporary tar and a shovel of stuff that does NOT stay long before the potholes return. They should do it correctly and right, when they consider the crowds that frolic and play here. There isn't even true permanent bathroom facilities here till last year sometime, when temporary facilities were installed. A lot of investment and work is needed here before the park sinks into the sunset. Park is closed after sunset so don't even think of coming here to enjoy the Milky Way or meteor showers, etc. Police will come chase you off.

My family often book shelters here for family gatherings …read more The park is spacious , and each shelter is a good distance from the others so it never feels crowded. The park has a basketball court as well as a tennis court . You will usually see a few people fishing in the pond (you will also see many geese-this is their hangout). The playground area is loved by my grandchildren and the splash pad is really cute and has kept the kids cool on many days during this hot summer. This is a clean, well maintained park . If I had a preference, I would prefer a few more shaded/tree covered areas in the park , but if you love the sun and don't need any more shade than what the individual shelters provide-this is a great place .

In addition to the bike and walking paths that pass through this park, it gets used for winter sports like snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There's tennis courts, too. No playgrounds that I can tell, but that makes it an ideal place to observe wildlife or have a quiet picnic. I've been in the area so many times without realizing this was here. Lots of benches, some with shade, some without. There's a pond for fishing. Just a lovely jewel in the suburbs near the university. Makes me wish I could have a do-over because my college experience would probably be a lot nicer in a place like this.

A nice wooden bridge, Ellicott creek, a ton of planted trees , the American flag, and several wooden benches fill up this park, which reaches from North Forest to the UB campus. The best part of this walk, though, was when it started raining and we were heading back....... amazingly, a mama and baby deer came really close to the trail, eating grass and looking up at us every once in a while. That made for a great photo opportunity! I'll be back to take a ride on my bike sometime.... P.S. be cautious of your GPS , the address lead me to the golf course, not the park. The parking lot is on North Forest Ave just a bit past Maple .
