Not only is it a full liquor store with beer, wine, and spirits, but they also have a deli with freshly made sandwiches, homemade salads and sides, and sliced lunch meats. Equal parts package store and legendary deli counter, Anthony's is an iconic OCMD staple that has perfected the art of beach lunches. History & Ownership Year Opened: The original property traces back to right after WWII as a drive-up stand and fried chicken carryout. The family bought the business in 1965, gradually expanding to add wine in 1970 and merging the store concept in 1982. The Full Deli Debut: In 1987, Anthony's officially expanded into a full-scale deli, which quickly became as famous as its liquor selection. Ownership: Operated as a beloved family-owned business for over 55 years. Awards & Local Acclaim Anthony's frequently earns local accolades--including Best Subs and Best Carryout honors--thanks to its commitment to quality. Rather than skimping on fillings, they load their sandwiches with premium Boar's Head and Citterio meats, freshly sliced cheeses, and house-made salads. The Sandwiches & Fan Favorites Anthony's sandwiches are renowned for their staggering portions. The 12-inch hoagies are packed with over a half-pound of meat and cheese on freshly baked rolls. The Shrimper: A massive sub loaded with house-made Maryland-style shrimp salad, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The Nautilus: A gourmet Italian sub layered with mortadella (with pistachio), prosciutto, sopressata, and provolone. House-Cooked Roast Beef: Tender, rare roast beef sliced thin--a staple that locals swear by. The Flagship: The Crown Jewel If you only order one sub on your trip, make it The Flagship. The Flagship Sub Over 1/2 lb of Genoa salami, capicola ham, pepper ham, and sharp provolone cheese. Shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, onions, and spicy hot peppers. Dressed with olive oil, red wine vinegar, and oregano on a 12" freshly baked hoagie roll. It's the quintessential Italian cold-cut sub--salty, tangy, slightly spicy, and sturdy enough to hold up in your beach cooler all afternoon. Pro Tip for Beachgoers When heading to the beach or driving back home, ask the deli staff to assemble your sandwich "semi-deconstructed" (with oil, vinegar, and tomatoes on the side). Your roll won't get soggy, making it taste just as fresh hours later.

TLDR: Liquid Assets is serving some of the best food in Ocean City, with creative small plates,…read moreexcellent whiskey cocktails, and a great liquor store built right into the experience. We stopped by for lunch shortly after arriving for our OCMD beach weekend and were thoroughly impressed by the caliber of food LA is dishing out. What started as a liquor store with a bar has evolved into a seriously good restaurant that stands out from the usual beach fare. Our table of four shared a bunch of small plates and a few larger dishes. We tried the steamed mussels, buffalo wings, tuna crisps, baked oysters, short rib pot pie, and Kung Pao calamari. The rich short rib pot pie was excellent, and we loved the baked oysters with aged cheddar, honey chipotle, and fresh chimichurri. Our favorite was the Kung Pao calamari, which had a great sweet Asian heat that made it a fun spin on the classic. We also ordered a round of cocktails, with the bourbon and whiskey based drinks being the favorites. The Wild Fashioned was especially good. Another great perk is that dining guests receive 10 percent off purchases from the attached liquor store. We happily took advantage and stocked up on Willett bourbon and Clase Azul tequila for the rest of the beach weekend. Overall, Liquid Assets is a great place to come for a drink or three with some elevated bites, especially when you are ready for a break from typical beach food. We will definitely be back.

The ambiance alone makes it worth the visit. I stopped in for a late lunch and went with their Pick 2 lunch combo, pairing the Caesar salad with the cream of tomato soup. The Caesar was excellent: fresh, whole romaine hearts tossed in a nice tangy dressing, topped with flavorful brown bread croutons and a solid chunk of quality cheese. The cream of tomato soup was equally good, carrying over those same rich croutons and cheese to tie the meal together seamlessly. Service was top-notch as well--the bartender was friendly and welcoming, and the kitchen churned out the food impressively fast. Great spot all around; I will definitely be back.
