I went to Rick's Market to buy alcohol and handed over my valid Pennsylvania ID. I turned 21 in December 2025, so there was nothing questionable about my age or identification. Instead of handling it professionally, multiple employees looked over my ID like I was doing something wrong while a line formed behind me. To make it worse, a manager got involved, gave me the nastiest look, and wouldn't even say a single word to me. If there was a concern, they could have communicated like professionals instead of treating me like a criminal. The whole experience was embarrassing, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary. I like the store because it offers a deli and beer and groceries but I bought the macaroni salad for dinner side and it was the worst macaroni salad I've ever had. So don't waste your money on it. It taste like, well nothing. read more

First time at Rick's. Walked in the door face to face with racks of bananas. Love it! We didn't need much. (I brought a small storage container of must have non perishable items with us on vacation. Very money saving). But I grabbed bananas and zucchini, stuff like that. It looked fresh to me. No holes or browning. They have a deli in the back for sandwiches to go and a meat and cheese slicer for product per LB. It was a bit crowded but... we're on the strip at OCMD. What do you expect. I appreciated the choice of grocery store as opposed to thinking I have to shop at the Food Lion here. Rick's has great packaged food options, fresh produce and a working deli. Cleanest market I've ever seen by a shore, certainly better than Wildwood, NJ's stores, and even provided fresh coffee and pastries. I didn't need to shop for groceries, but I could tell it was a place I'd go to. Coffee was by Green Mountain, was nice and hot, and they had a nice setup with the cream, milk and sugars (they even had sugar in the raw! score!). The cinnamon roll I got was recommended by the guy I let go in front of me at the bakery counter because I couldn't decide which pastry to get. I was not disappointed! I popped in Rick's market for a Labor Day cheesesteak and it was absolutely top tier. You would've thought this bad boy was made in Philly. The only thing better than the cheesesteak was Shelby and Melissa's customer service. This is mostly a market for people who don't want to cook -- lots of snacks, drinks, ready-made food, boxed dinners, etc. The ratio of produce to beer is about 1:4. And watch the expiration date if you do buy produce -- we got a bag of salad mix that was 2 weeks out of date (we should have checked more carefully). They have a very limited selection of produce in general. I like to shop local and give the little guys a chance to compete with big chains. I also expect to pay a little more at a store that can't get bulk buying discounts. The prices at Ricks were still higher than i expected tho. The deli only had 2 kinds of sliced cheese American and provolone - no cheddar even. This is a good place to buy booze and snacks. But if you're shopping for a family and plan to cook some meals, you'll have to go to another grocery store for provisions. The staff was friendly and efficient, hence the two stars. But it's not a place I can do my regular shopping. read more

I am basing this whole review off of 3 aspects. First, I bought a sub from their deli, an Italian cold cut, that was one of the best subs I have ever eaten in my life. It was a religious experience. If their others subs are anywhere as good then I was this place was within driving distance for me. Second, they carry Arizona Arnold Palmer Zero. If you are an Arizona fan than you will know that this is a difficult Arizona product to find. It tastes the same as the regular one except without the three billions calories of sugar and carbs. Third, I sat outside and met some really attractive Romanian girls. The prices were a little more expensive for their regular grocery items, but it is the beach and I would expect them to price things a bit higher for tourists. read more

The husband and I managed to snag a condominium for our Ocean City stay that included a full-service kitchen, so we needed a place to buy some groceries for a couple of days. We'd stopped to eat on the way into town, so we decided that we'd pop in next door to Rick's Market and purchase some food. We weren't in here for more than five minutes before we were thinking, "Oh, HELL no." The prices are absolutely insane. Four dollars for yogurt? Three dollars for a carton of orange juice (generic, at that)? Um, how stupid do you think we are? I know we're tourists, but give me a freaking break. There are two large grocery stores (SuperFresh and Food Lion) in close proximity to this place, so why would we choose to be wallet gouged? The only way I'd come here is if you 1. don't have a car to go elsewhere or 2. need liquor. Because God knows they had more liquor than food on their shelves. Thanks, but no thanks. I want to support the little guy, but not when the little guy feels it necessary to overcharge 200 percent for basic things like bread and milk. Not recommended. read more

Came here after the vacation season was over, early September. We need some ice and a few other things for the condo we rented. Firstly, this place is expensive. But hey its a tourist town with tourist prices. That's something I guess you just have to get over. The shelves we are barren, they said it was because the tourist season was over. I heard other patrons mentioning this as well. What really got me about this place was it seemed dirty, especially in the deli/bakery/carry out area. There were small fruit flies inside the donut case. We order some lunch meat. As we waited, we watched a worker refill a pasta dish in the case. As he filled it he dropped pasta all over the case. He started to back away, like he was going to leave it there. Then made eye contact with us, and realized we were watching him. He reluctantly proceeded to clean up his mess. So in the end this place is ok if you need an emergency item or two. But I wouldn't eat their carry out food. read more

Local grocery store that I love!! I come here specifically for the fresh donuts in the bakery, rolls to make sandwiches, fresh coffee, and cold cuts. The atmosphere inside Ricks is unmatched. Never been in a grocery store like it before. I was personally greeted at the door with a very warm welcome, it felt like i was walking into my sweet granny's house as i could really feel the love. Each aisle holds an infinite amount of joy and excitement. I have since been back many times and each time is just impeccable. After the tragic loss of a loved one, Rick was there for me, and the bond between me and that heavenly store can never be broken. Thank you Rick, you truly saved my life. read more

The most expensive little grocery store.. i dont advise getting more than the necessary

Okay, so the prices are high- but your in a tourist town. I expect to pay more, but the prices here are ridiculous. Also, I find the fruit & veggies usually over ripened & the market is so-so when it comes to cleanliness. But my biggest complaint is with the pastry & donut cases. They are loaded with flies crawling all over the baked goods. Dont mention it to the staff behind the counter, they dont care. I've stopped in again a few times for milk, cereal & it's the same thing. Flies all over the donuts proclaimed to be the best in OC. Well, that makes it easy to give them up. Seriously, I've had no appetite for donuts since seeing that. Makes me wonder how everything else prepared at the market is handled. See for yourself! Yikes! read more

Probably the best fried chicken I've ever had, I look forward to it every summer and they source some of their produce locally, which is cool. Don't look to Rick's as your go-to for stocking up on groceries (hence the high price gripes in other reviews), but come here for the kick a** deli and your money will be well spent and appetites satisfied. Best Bakery in town! Never miss going to Rick's when I visit Ocean City. They have a fantastic Bakery on site, fresh baked goodies every day and also you can purchase day old items, still fresh if you ask me, at discounted prices. They have everything a regular market would have just priced slightly higher but if your in a pinch this is the place to go. I always place an order for their large vanilla iced cinnamon rolls to bring back to Philadelphia with me. Highly recommend this store. read more
