This is one of those places I really don't want to share, and would prefer to keep it as one of those genuine "hidden gems" so many refer to here. As a loyal Yelper, I am compelled to share, even if it makes my pickup wait times longer! While I expected NY-style, their pizza is more like a Chicago thin crust, bar-cut pizza. It was fantastic! A light, crispy crust, a very tasty sauce, plenty of toppings, and WAY more cheese than most pizzas joints offer nearby. My big surprise here was their simple salami sub. It's made from 100% top-shelf quality ingredients, and even had marinated peppers. Without a doubt, it was the BEST Italian-style submarine I have ever enjoyed! What a great little spot! We wanted to try their steak grinder, and wow did it exceed our expectations. Thanks again, Yelpers! The restaurant is sort of snuck in the back of a plaza off the main road, with an overall local & casual feel to it. They're obviously a great pizza and beer spot (three brews on draft), but check their sandwiches and pasta out while you're there! We will definitely return. I don't even know what to say. That's the best freaking pizza I've ever had in my life. Absolutely perfect.

Today was time to try another pizza place. My favorite pizza is New York style, but I am open-minded and have often loved other varieties. At Pinellas Pizzeria we were warmly greeted and well-served today by one of the friendly guys that runs the place. We decided on an 18" pepperoni pizza. I am guessing it was Chicago style?? It was very good. It had a little more thick dough to it than I cared for. It was also unique to see the pizza sliced into squares and rectangles. I also noticed the order of toppings was different than what I'm used to. In New York the toppings go over the cheese. Here the cheese goes over the toppings. I loved the pizza sauce. It was a very thick & tomatoey & flavorful sauce. The cheese topping was not skimpy. The pepperonis tasted good as well. It was fun trying something new. Pinellas Pizzeria proves New York certainly does not have a monopoly on good pizza. read more

Pinellas Pizzeria is the best pizza place in Largo and definitely one of the best pizza places in Pinellas County!!! The first time I try a new place I always stick to a standard pizza pie for the purposes of a fair comparison. We ordered a small half pepperoni thin crust pizza cooked well done and it was delicious! The pizza came with an equally good amount of cheese and sauce on it. We ordered a large which was a really good size and the two of us almost finished it...that's how good it was! The pizza came square cut, but you can also get it pie cut. Admittedly, I heard about this place from a guy sitting next to me on the airplane and was described to me as a Connecticut style pizza joint, which I assumed was a New Haven style (best pizza ever) pizza joint, but it's clearly not and that's OK. This place hits on great pizza and amazing service. The owners are super friendly and just a pleasure to be around, which creates an overall amazing experience. You can dine in or do take out. They also have some off menu higher end wine options, which I absolutely love. If you are looking for really good pizza, then look no further. Definitely check this place out! read more

Probably the best thing about this place is their willingness to cater to your irrational sense of proper. While dining here, some guy wanted a pizza with Parmigiano in place of mozzarella because that's the "right" way. They smiled and he loved his pizza. I ordered the veal Parmigiano because I was unable to find a review for it. The portion was large enough for two and old-school amazing. It came with a side of pasta topped with their legendary meat sauce. I'm used to substandard service when dining alone. At this joint tho, I seemed to get extra attention. Two of the owners dropped by to chat with me and the server was extra friendly, too. One of the owners explained that much of what they offer originated outta a whole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop place his parents operated in Connecticut since the 60's. Their menu seems limited but is still somehow stacked with "absolutey-must-try" entrees. Before leaving, I ordered a steak bomb to go. I reheated it later and it was spectacular. I had to try the pizza with the funky crust,too so I ordered that a week after my initial visit. While the crust wasn't my all-time favorite, it was a refreshing change from the usual. Their pizza sauce is definitely next-level. I saw the lasagna someone else ordered while eating there and immediately vowed to return for some even tho it's not something I generally order. As many of you may know I eat pizza often and I trie to visit differ establishments to see who's pizza is best. I got the steak grinder, a pepperoni pizza, a calzone and some fries. We ordered to go and brought it home with us. I ate half of the steak grinder and saved the rest for the following day. The pizza went straight into the fridge . It was only 2 of us eating and we had a lot of food. The food: was delicious the steak grinder I ate tasted very authentic and the bread was nice and crispy just the way I love it. Warning on the pizza I ordered a small pizza and was a thick crust pizza cut into squares. I only wrote warning so that you don't expected a hand tossed pizza. Either way food is worth it. The atmosphere: although it's in a small shopping plaza on the side of the building and the plaza looks dated. Inside not much different in terms of dated but that can be overlooked the food is the prize here. The service: great customer service and the front desk lady (sorry forgot her name) was exceptionally nice. She talked with us as she worked until we received our meal. The owner of the restaurant is the one that's makes the food The leftover: I am not a big fan of leftovers but let me tell you, I warmed my 1/2 a sub and the pizza the next morning and absolutely still tasted amazing. read more

On vacation in Indian Rocks Beach FLA, surrounded by cheap pizza joints with long waits, so-so ratings and big crowds, l did what l usually do - digging around the surrounding towns for decent pie. I found it - seven miles away in the middle of Largo. In a tiny strip shop next to the Orange Pawn shop is a TINY cinder-block box of delicious smellgood. A couple of ex-Connecticut theoretical physicists (not really) decided they needed to make up for the lame excuses for pizza in this Tampa bypass town. I mean really - pizza, elephant ears? In the same place?? Pizza is Detroit style with a deeper dish and crispy edges. The base sauce is a tangy, rich one with plenty of spices and is fantastic whatever ingredients you love. Grinder choices with veal, eggplant, genoa salami? Yes please - all. Then, a lasagna that is probably the best non-grandma made I've ever had. Whaaaaat?! Not really a sitdown place although there are a few small tables and two barstools in front of the register so hecklers can pick on the owners while they cook. Don't be offput by the surroundings. Leave the beach, make the drive. And try not to pull over in a Wawa parking lot and eat the whole thing before you get home. However, when I went to their website to check out the menu, I learned that the menu can't be viewed unless you start an order. If you are around Largo Florida I highly recommend Pinellas Pizzeria. We started with the garlic bread it was toasted to perfection light and fluffy. Next we had spaghetti with 2 meatballs the sauce and meatballs were so good and very flavorful. The pizza crust is made fresh daily and to die for the topping are all top quality and sauce is made fresh as well. I am disappointed that we didn't eat here our first day of vacation versus the last day so we could have had it more than once. Now to try and come up with a plan to get it on the plane with us tomorrow. Very moderately price for all the amount of food you get. This place is great! Just moved to the area and after a long day of moving we wanted something quick and easy. Food came on time and very hot! We got a few small pizzas and they were huge for a small! Also very tasty. The crust has such a great flavor. The boneless wings were delicious- real pieces of chicken and the sauce had great flavor. I ordered a large sausage & onion pizza w/1/2 mushroom,1/2 green pepper. The sauce is really tasty,crust was okay... some squares were thick, while some were thin. My biggest disappointment was they really skimped out on the sausage & onion! I'd say we got maybe 12 tiny pieces of sausage, and barely any onion,on the whole pizza! The cheese was generous, and good quality.Also they sautéed the green peppers n mushrooms, which added great flavor. Honestly,I won't be returning...We're from Chicago!! So again,after 30 yrs. This place deserves 10 stars! Flew into Tampa heading to Clearwater and we needed something to eat. We saw a sign for pizza and a veteran owned business. For two adults we ordered fries and a small half pepperoni. Sauce was delicious and crust was perfect. The best part is that the owner didn't try to upsell the pizza size--he was honest that a small would be plenty for 2 of us. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend!!! read more

Excellent! Last night we decided to give this place a try. It was our first order from here. We had the fried mozzarella block. Phenomenal! Just wow! It was so good. We also ordered a large build your own pizza. It was delicious! I did have one piece with lots of gristle. I'm sure it was from the bacon. It happens. I could of easily ordered a small pizza, we literally ate one row & the rest went in the fridge for later. They do not skimp on toppings either. The dough is soft & airy you can tell it's fresh. I also like that it's cut into squares. We are St Louis natives, I thought the pizza was going to be crispy crust since it was in squares. It wasn't but the taste, texture & flavor are unlike any other local pizza places. We were so impressed by them that tonight will probably be dinner from them too. the sauce on the mozzarella was so good that I must try their pasta now!!!
