On 4/10/26, we got to the restaurant at 6.30 and didn't get our table until 8pm and when they bought the salad the carrots were dried out, the tomatoes were hard, and when they bought out the dinners they were Cold , my partner got the wrong patatos, I ordered mushrooms and onions and they were cold. And my partners steak looked terrible. My steak was cold to the touch and when I asked to talk to the manager I was told there wasn't one. I've been hearing rumors of Pine Tree going down hill since it has gotten new owners. That is just not true. Everything is the same for the amazing food. Their employees did not drastically change, nor did the family recipes. What did change though, is that they have gotten numerous technology upgrades. They now take orders on a tablet, the front desk has an all-new register system that is completely online. Another thing they have streamlined to limit waste is they do individual salads now with a little bit of relish tray on them, and then just cheese liver pate and pickles on a tray. They still do the crackers and the buns. The food is exactly as I remember it, with the addition of twice baked potatoes on weekends that they don't have the potato puff. read more

Silverware in good condition and clean. Salad dressings are homemade. Relish tray with good liver pate, cheddar cheese and pickles. Abby was our waitress. Pleasant, checked in often but not too much. Salad lettuce leaves a little brown but the homemade dressing with the cucumbers slices was so tasty. Good relish tray. Broccoli very good but will do without cheese sauce next time. Green beans fresh and crisp! Not overcooked or mushy so I am very happy about that!! Prime rib tender cooked to order. Shrimp grilled right! Snow crab so good! Lots of work but they warned us and gave us the tools - again the snow crab tasted sooo good!! (If you order the king crab they cut the king crab legs in half for you). It's a must stop here at least once a year. We both ordered the 24 oz Rib Eye because we like leftovers for days, however the seasoning that they used has changed. My complaint is not about food as I never got to try any, ambiance not sure as I only seen corner of a crowded bar, as for service, my 29th wedding anniversary, I called 2 weeks in advance and was 3rd on the list, as I watched others getting orders taken and being seated ,I went to check on where we are on the list and they had been sending in people after me , no one was at the check in after an hour past my reservation for two and still not being seated I went to see the receptionist, no one at desk I reserved a table for two for a romantic evening only to be shoved into a corner of a bar and forgotten.so I crossed my name off and left, I then called back several times, only to an endless ringing phone , I suppose they were busy taking reservations. I then attempted to e-mail, from their website as I believe they would like to know, and I am disappointed. sent three messages to no response and I am sad to have to post this as I anticipated so much more, pre planned made reservations, anticipation on supposedly one of the best restaurant's around only to be left with major disappointment !! read more

Waited 4.5 hours from the time we entered the building to getting our food WITH a reservation. Food was decent. Service was bad!

we had reservations for 6PM they finally called our names at 6:50 and we didn't get our food until 7:45! My husband and I both ordered the prime rib medium rare. they both came out rare as rare could be not even warm. I sent mine back they came out with another piece it was the same. prime rib is supposed to be slow roasted and tender and there was nothing tender about this. I ordered the broccoli and cheese as a side the broccoli came out watery and they sprayed what looked like cheese wiz on top. we had a table of 12 and everyone who ordered steak it was not cooked how they ordered it. we all brought steaks home so we could recook them the next day. when I went to say something they took 10 dollars off for absolute disgusting food!! then I just looked at my CC statement and they charged us 96.00 at the bar for 5 old fashions!! Cindy Hostess main Three hostess total, two only take money and watch people, sit on their phones, seriously do not help much. Witnessed someone spill a drink on someone right in front of these two individuals who just stood there rolling their eyes doing nothing ( they could've gotten towels and helped the situation) Terrible customer service. Suggestions: First; Do not assume people walking in the doors have been there before! Give clear and concise direction on what is expected. They want you to take menus to the bar and know what you want when the hostess finds you to order. We were not instructed this, we were just told to go to the bar and there was menus on the side. Instructed by the two individuals at the counter when we walked in who could care less we were there. Second: Don't bother getter reservations, they seat you when you when they want to. Does not matter what time your reservation says, unless your friends with someone there. Then they save prime rib for you and seat you first. Yes we were seated next to the table of friends who joyously laughed about this exact happenstance. Also we were later notified by Cindy the hostess who had gotten upset with this group because they were not prepared to order and instead of moving on to others in the group who knew what they wanted, she left the entire group stating she would be back.....20 minutes later. She later in the evening told a group member our reservation did not matter because we did not show up 30 minutes before the reservation. I made this reservation and was not informed by anyone that this was a Pine Tree policy. Finally got a table @ 9:34 two hours after said reservations and 2 salads missing, soups were not on the table either. Terry our server apologized and was great! She was prompt and courteous, I hope she doesn't have to share her tips because clearly she was the only one besides the three bartenders tonight that was superb! This place has a huge bar, if run correctly with better customer service would be the place to go. Tonight the performance was well below standard even the dishes were sub par, ribs were served extremely tough but taken off the bill, one set of ribs fell off the bones, so membrane was left on the other? Their combination platter speaks for itself in the picture. It is supposed to be a wine a butter sauce? However it was more like cheese and broiled under a broiler. Their stuffed Haddock was delicious and raved about at our table probably best dish on the table. Salmon was good a little too sweet more like a dessert. All steaks served were not correct rare and medium rare are not hard to temp. Why bother with a salad? A 1/4 carrot stick and iceburg lettuce. You are supposed to wait in the bar for them to take your order. The bar was completely full at 5pm so we had to sit on the bench at the entrance. Went in to use the bathroom and never got warm water to wash my hands. I was going to make a bottle for my daughter but was told by another guest that their was a sign in the men's bathroom that babies and women that are pregnant can not drink the water. I never saw a sign in the woman's but could have missed it. Salad was just a bagged salad. Prime rib was over cooked. Smashed baby reds were to die for. Little ice cream cups for our dad's birthday. My oh my oh my. I think I may have given a 5 star once before. It I do not rate them easily. We were traveling and my husband looked ahead to find a cvhnice place for dinner. I think he is getting into supper clubs. It was a little confusing at the start, but in a good way. My husband had made reservations 4 days previous. We got there about 15 minutes prior to our 7 pm reservation. The place was packed and after waiting for a few people to pay their bill we let the hostess know we were there. We were told to take a menu and go into the bar area where someone would take our order and then when we were called for our table our salad would be waiting and as soon as we were seated our entree would be cooked. We went into the bar and stood for about 10 minutes (it always seems longer) and we had not seen anyone who looked like they were taking orders. We walked back out to the hostess area and sat at a bench and then a waitress (or order taker) stopped by and the hostess asked if our order had been taken yet. We replied no so the order taker took our order. I think the hostess could tell it was our first time there and she was looking out for us. We normally don't drink so sitting in the bar to wait was not where we wanted to be. We sat back at the bench to wait for our names to be called. As we waited, the hostess, in between customers, enlightened us with some family history as the business has been in the family for 55 years. Grandma still lives upstairs and will stand on the balcony watching people come and Go and will and will be within 10 of the total count for the night. We watched several come and left because of a 90 minute wait. My husband commented to one group that he put our reservation in 4 days previously. They stated that they didn't think the business took reservations. The hostess explained that you get your name on a wait list. So, I guess you can call ahead and get your name on the list, then when you show up they start you with the ordering process. So, if you walk in without calling ahead, naturally your name goes to the bottom of the list. We got seated about 30 minutes after we arrived and about 15 minutes after our "7 pm" reservation. When we arrived at the table it looked elegant, in a way. There was a large salad bowl and three different dressings. The dressings all tasted fresh and homemade and the salad crisp. It is all you can eat salad and was so good I had two plates. Also on the table was a relish tray that consisted of radishes, carrot sticks, celery sticks, pickles, cheese spread and liver pate. The liver pate was delicious-the best I have ever tasted. It was served in a plastic cup-lucky for me-as it came home with my leftovers. The bread basket had rolls and bread slices. I didn't take any but my husband had a roll and said it was so-so (standard). We had commented that it was strange when they took our order we were not asked if we wanted anything to drink. About 2 minutes later our waitress stopped by to see if we needed anything and I ordered a lemonade. She also refilled our water glasses. We had a little breather after pigging out on the salad and relish. We watched as the table Next to us had a king prime rib served and holy monga - it was at least 6 inches thick. My husband order the Friday fish fry-it was all you can eat-no choice. It came with two pieces of chicken, shrimp and two different types of fish (pike and perch). He said the shrimp sauce was excellent and the fish was good. His chicken came home in a takeout box. He ordered garlic mashed potatoes with his meal. He said they were good but a little on the cool side-could have been warmer. He did not send them back though. My huge ribeye topped with added mushrooms and onions was phenomenal! It had a great char flavor and was ordered medium rare. I ordered sweet potato fries as my potato side and they were good too. I look forward to at least two more meals from my take home box. The ribeye was a 16 ounce-the smallest on the menu. After my husband saw the prime rib he wants to come back to try it out. One other patron told him The horseradish served with it is out of this world. So, I guess we will be back. I was thinking of trying the frog legs but they happened to be out of them that night. Reservations at 7. We arrived at 655. After being stuffed in a packed bar we didn't get seated until 8:15 pm. My husband is not a happy hungry guy. When sat our drinks were empty and they stayed that way until food was served. My Filet $40.00 ordered med rare came to table welldone but I was starving, the server didn't come to check it in the first 10 mins it was at the table and there was no way I was waiting or a recook. The supper club gets really busy on weekends so it's best to make reservations. Upon walking in, you will find the cashier / hostess. On the left is the dining area which seats around 100 guests. On the right is the bar area with a long bar. The decor is 70's looking. When you first get there, they will direct you to the bar area and provide you with menus. You can order a drink if you'd like. Someone will come take your dinner order while they are setting up your table. We had 4:45pm reservations and got there around 4:30. They seated us right at 4:45. The table has crackers, bread, big salad bowl, and a plate with radishes, carrots, celery, and pickles. The thousand island, french, and ranch dressing were homemade and very good. I tried the beef barley soup and the wings for appetizer. Both were also great. Our party ordered the seafood platter which you can get cooked in garlic & wine or fried. We also had the fried butterfly shrimp and prime rib. The seafood platter had crab legs, shrimp, scallops, frog legs, and pike. All of the entrees were pretty good. Multiple servers came to top off water, refill other drinks, and to see how things were going. Service was excellent. Prices were reasonable. read more

This was the first time at this supper club. I will touch on service and ambiance after I review the food. I need the readers of this review to understand that this is not for comic relief or over the top, this is as honest as I can be. I ordered the 24oz ribeye cooked medium rare with a mushroom topper, french fries and a balsamic vinegar salad. The salad was ok they make their own dressing. The fries had zero salt or seasoning and honestly tasted like yesterday's fries reheated, i'm sure we all know that taste. I can handle that though. Why do you ask? Because soon I will be faced with a 24oz ribeye steak smothered in mushrooms. Well, I got that steak completely covered with mushrooms so far so good. I picked up my fork, and started with a mouthful of mushrooms. I'm not sure how the cooked these mushrooms but they tasted as if they were boiled in just water no seasoning whatsoever, they had a weird taste almost like straw or hay. I couldn't eat anymore of them and that was after a few honest tries. But I was still excited about my 24oz ribeye, so as I started to uncover the ribeye from mushrooms I noticed that as my fork was scraping the surface of the meat, the sear of the meat was a bit hard I'm not sure how else to explain that experience. However, I was still anxious to cut into this, and let it melt in my mouth. Yeah, the melting in my mouth never happened. Cut after cut, bite after bite was almost impossible to chew and this steak was not seasoned at all. I mean this steak didn't even get any left over seasoning for a prior cook, this is how bad it was. This steak was easily half fat and half of that fat was that tough kind of fat that is impossible to chew. If I had to guess, I'd say this steak was cooked once already and then thrown on the grill/griddle again when ordered. This was the absolute worst steak I've ever had in my entire life. Normally I would send it back and ask for a new cut of meat especially for the price, but I was there my wife celebrating our six year anniversary and I didn't want to embarrass her. So I suffered and chewed through what I could and spit what I couldn't chew out which was almost every bite. When you go to a restaurant, especially a supper club and spend about 50 to 60 bucks on a ribeye steak meal you really expect it to be a decent cut of meat. When we left, my wife asked how my steak was and I told her. She replied with I've seen you eat steak so many times and could tell there was something wrong. I told her I didn't want to embarrass her so I just powered through it and I felt that it was her night and we don't get out much because we have young children and limited childcare. Anyway, on to the service. It's a bit of a weird set up, you take a menu and go sit at the bar until your table is ready which was about 20 minutes. I say weird because 90% of the tables were open when we got in there but that fine, every restaurant got their own thing. The service was ok nothing to write home about, the waitress hit our table a few times asking if we needed anything and how our dinner was. Pretty average and normal. The ambiance was an old fashion supper club with a bar. They had a wine menu but no drink menu and as I said we don't get out much and we aren't big drinkers. My wife wanted a drink but had no clue what to order because this isn't a regular thing for us. But since there was no specials/house drink menu she didn't get an alcoholic beverage. Anyway, my wife order the special of the day, snow crab legs. She said they were ok but she had nowhere to put the spent shells except on the table. You'd think they'd give an extra plate like the rest of the restaurant world but it is what it is. Added note, my ribeye meal was so bad that I have made a decision to never ever order a steak again from a restaurant this meal ruined that for me forever. I could've fed my family of five a steak dinner and enjoyed it buying and cooking it myself along with all the fixings and sides for what I spent. It's not all bad though, we had the fried garlic cheese curds they were absolutely delicious. Just an FYI the bill was $105ish dollar's and based on my experience I shouldn't have even left a tip but it's not the waitresses fault that the meal was bad, she done her job. So I left about a 20% tip and that was almost as difficult as it was to chew that ribeye. read more

I read the previous review written by Donnell, but did not share it with my family. We were there with 11 people and had reservations for 7 pm. We arrived at 6:25 or so. We were immediately given menus and were seated at the bar. The waitress came back about 7:15 and said it would be awhile before she took our orders. We weren't too upset by that because we were enjoying each other's company. About 7:30 they took our orders. By 8:30 we still hadn't been seated. We asked when we were going to be seated and they said they couldn't seat us until 9 pm as they had 2 other large groups ahead of us. The hostess/s are very young. She used her age as an excuse when we asked why we weren't going to be seated. "I'm only 16!" She said that they don't take reservations, they are just suggestions. She didn't know how to resolve the situation and wasn't sharp enough to apologize for the oversight. It's a Saturday night and the restaurant is in the hands of Ill prepared staff. I understand the food is good, but we had to make a decision on starting our going. We left and they lost a hefty tab. Not sure if we'll return at any point. My wife and I went there for our 45th wedding anniversary. We've been to the Pine Tree many times and have never had a bad meal. I can't say that anymore. I ordered baby back ribs from the menu. What I got was St Louis ribs. There's a difference. My wife ordered one of their specials of the night. Prime rib with shrimp oscar. The shrimp Oscar sauce was covering the meat when it arrived. Must have been to cover up the poor quality of the prime rib. Very tough and no flavor. Other people seated next to us said the same thing. When we said something to our server, she was very pleasant and said she would talk to the owner. They took $10 off our bill and the owner never came to talk with us. We won't be back. read more

Supper Club dining at it's greatest. The Pine Tree has a full bar with great bartenders to mix you up a good drink (or 5) before dinner. The drinks are potent and they have a HUGE selection of liquor and many wines & beers. The bar can get a bit smokey at time but the dining room is smoke free. The food is always awesome (especially the steaks) and there are always different specials each night. I am not a seafood eater but they also have a very large seafood selection and also some very famous prime rib. The Pine Tree is closed on Mondays. read more

My family and I have been going to the pine tree for many years. Make sure you call ahead and have your name put on the list or you will be waiting a long time. I always have the tenderloin when I go and my Dad always has the prime rib. At least once a year when we go, they come back to us after they've taken our order because they have run out of prime rib. It's disappointing especially when you drive over an hour to get there AND call in a reservation. However, it's obviously very good if they run out of it on occasion. The lady who works behind the desk when you walk in (short dark hair) can be snippy and rude at times. I'm assuming she is one of the owners...The waitress and bartenders are always nice and pleasant. We were back at the Pine Tree this past Saturday with a party of 6. Two of the people in our party ordered scallops, which were cold when they came to the table and they ran out of Prime Rib, so we had to substitute a Ribeye instead. The cut of meat was awful, very gristly and there wasn't a piece of meat that was "just meat." It was gross and upon bringing it to the attention of our waitress, she brought out a new steak. The new steak was very good. The rest of the people in our party ordered Tenderloins which were excellent. They provide you with a salad, crackers, cheese, liver paste, buns and veggies at your table which is a nice touch. I miss the hot peppers and twice baked potatoes that they used to have. We called ahead at 4:15pm for a 7:30 reservation and we got there at 7. They were out of Prime Rib by the time we ordered. Went for Mother's Day and was quite busy. We had reservations for 6:00 and arrived at 5:00. We were seated by 5:30! Salad is set on your table as you are seated, in a large bowl. Lazy Susan of 3 types of salad dressings to choose from and also a plate of veggies, cheese spread & liver pate'. Food was very tasty- we had prime rib done perfect & very tender, bang bang shrimp so flavorful with hint of spice, seafood platter and a special for the night of lobster & crab topped baked cod. We arrived at 4:30 on a Friday evening just ahead of the crowd. Even though we had reservations, we had to wait about 30 minutes but the drinks were excellent so the wait was no problem. It would be nice if they offered peanuts or chips in the bar but The good news is that they take your order while you are enjoying your drinks in the bar so when you do get to your table, your relish tray, appetizers and salad are served immediately. The service was very good, the prime rib and steaks were excellent and the price very reasonable. This is my second favorite supper club in Wisconsin and I highly recommend it. read more

This is what Wisconsin supper club dining is all about. I used to come here when I lived in the area and drove over to Northport to dine here back in the 60's. And it has remained one of my favorite supper clubs over the past 5 decades. When I'm in the area on a Friday, the fish-fry is a must. Otherwise, the other selections are always good. My favorite is the poorman's lobster and the stuffed cod. But, the steaks look delicious too! I usually have a brandy old-fashion at the bar before dining, and everyone is always so friendly. A good ol Wisconsin supper club. I find the greeting to always be friendly and warm. Sitting at the bar isn't a problem. Very friendly bartenders and great drinks. And it would seem we always meet some sort of character to make it even more fun. As far as the food goes. Fabulous prime rib! Not so much...we give this place a try every now and then to see if anything has changed. Frankly, I think it's time to stop. The 'greeting' at the door is usually a rude one, as though you're inconveniencing them by coming in. There is always a wait, and they usher you to the bar where the drinks are always too strong and typically dripping down the side of the glass. When you do finally get seated, the relish and dip thing is nice but nothing stellar. We usually go with steaks and more often than not, at least one person in our party is come back to after the waitress has already left, and told their steak is no longer available. I'm a stickler for presentation and there is no concern for that here. It's loud and crowded and just overall an uncomfortable experience. Sorry all, I'd recommend going elsewhere...anywhere else. read more

Pine Tree Supper Club is just a few miles west of New London, WI. Just a little ways past Northport. My wife and I dined there one evening during September, 2011, because it came highly recommended by the staff of Americinn in New London. When we arrived, a large contingent from the Veteran's home was just finishing up a nice outing there. The hostess was very pleasant and found us seating quickly (we had no reservation). Otherwise you can wait in the bar area. I ordered a martini - one of the prime ways I judge a restaurant is whether they can make a good one. They made a very good martini, and there was plenty of it. The menu is a very good one, and the table is set with fresh bread and relish - salad tray. I ordered a steak, which was done as I asked and which was of excellent quality. The meal was very enjoyable. Our dinning experience was great - a true taste of the old Wisconsin supper club tradition. The service was absolutely excellent. I would not hesitate to highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more
