My friend and I had two great meals here yesterday. I liked mine so much, I brought my husband for dinner tonight. Yesterday, I had the pulled pork and onion rings, and tonight I ordered the top sirloin. I'm sure it will be delicious. The atmosphere is peaceful, gorgeous, and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant. Side note: The GPS on Yelp directs you to The Sugar Shack. Pine Junction, however, is on Bailey Hill Rd. Stay on Bailey Hill until you come to their fairly large road sign at their entrance. It's 3.4 miles from The Sugar Shack. If you're facing The Sugar Shack look to the left, Bailey Hill Rd crosses over the road that The Sugar Shack sits on. Go back to the intersection, take a right hand turn, and keep going, moving through one, or maybe two intersections. It's about five minutes from The Sugar Shack. My review is more like... "I really want to be a fan, but I need to come back and see if they still have problems with food supply and a bit of empathy when things go wrong!" My husband and I had been hearing rave reviews about this place. So we were very excited to finally try it and see for ourselves. First the good... the (available) food was good and prepared as we ordered. I would describe the menu as cowboy BBQ. The atmosphere... we sat outside on a nice summer night. It was a unique and fun atmosphere for us and we all thought it was definitely worth the 45 minute drive. Even though the band for the night had cancelled, we were okay with that because it allowed us to enjoy the conversation of our group of 8. The atmosphere is like being out in the country. There is no where else we could think of like this in our area. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. The owners were on-site. It was nice to be greeted and welcomed by one of them. The bad... After placing our order on a seemingly slow Saturday night, the waitress informed us about 10 minutes later that that they were low on ribs and several people from our group who ordered a full rack would have to take a half rack. They were also out of pork chops so one of us would have to order something else. After we finished our dinners, the dessert order was taken. A short time later, the waitress approached. At this point it was comical to hear that several of the desserts we ordered were also not available. I felt bad for the waitress who had to deliver the message. We all handled this with humor. But, in all honesty, we were surprised that one of the owners didn't handle these issues with any empathy or explanation. We didn't ask for any kind of compensation, nor were we offered anything. We were just blown away by the lack of concern and the lack of apology from either owner. We have never encountered this type of issue in a restaurant before, ever. We totally get that food runs out sometimes. But, other restaurants handle this by telling you upfront if an item on the menu is not available prior to the order, not 10 minutes after you ordered. We will go back again to Pine Junction -- at least one more time because it seems like a special atmosphere. And we will give the benefit of the doubt because we have heard many good things about the restaurant. read more

Great stop in the Findley Lake area! Spacious during COVID, great safety practices / precautions in place to make me feel comfortable while getting seated, dining, and paying. Fiancée and I enjoyed our entrees and dessert! Didn't expect the spicy chicken tenders to be tossed in wet sauce but maybe I missed that somewhere - still good! I am going to start off by saying we have eaten at the Pine Junction many times. This visit, both my husband and I were disappointed. I had the Cuban sandwich. This sandwich was the poorest excuse for a Cuban I have ever eaten. It was served on a soft hoagie roll and had sauteed onions on it. Owner! Do your research. A true Cuban is on a crusty Cuban roll or in absence of that, French bread. It also should be pressed, but not in a panini press. Leave the onion off. That is not authentic. My husband had a fish sandwich. He said it was okay. The fresh cut fries could have been crispier. The tab for 2 sandwiches and one fountain drink was over $30. Very pricey for what we got for out money. The trip here makes for a nice Sunday drive, but with this experience, the next time we will opt for a different restaurant. read more

Ive been here 3-4 times in the past summer and food is EXCELLENT, at this family owned (coolest place you can't find) out in the woods. Bar staff fun and attentive the meals are affordable and very good. Haven't made it up there this winter yet but hear they do a good bit of business for events, bands and snowmobile folks.. (they were under construction for building out a new section outside) and it looks good already.. Plenty of private parking, 3-4 buildings, smoker, and handicap parking right out front.. This place was really cute. I'd give it 4.5 stars but you know. :) my husband had the burgers with the battered fried sliced jalapeños and it was good. Mine was less flavorful. I would next time get a signature burger. I'm scared away when burgers are sauced but his was not overly so. They came out cooked thru and I would have preferred my burger less cooked so ask if you want to. But the place is awesome! And in the middle of nowhere kinda! Very unique beautiful and well done. Great menu, good beers. Helpful staff. Really try it out! We're from Cleveland and were at peek n peak so we made the trip down the gravel road. Went here for dinner with my family, and I was pleased! I loved the environment of the wood walls. The backyard is lovely. Beautiful patio furniture and outdoor seating, along with a pavilion I think is rentable. The people were nice, and food was normal. We stopped here on our way back from snow tubing at Peek n peak. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was quick and friendly. There were 8 of us and they didn't have a problem with that at all. My husband and I had the broasted chicken. That was the juiciest, tastiest, crispiest skinned chicken ever. Our waitress was fantastic. We never had to wait for refills. As far as the rest of the menu: burgers always good and big, chicken fingers rock, broasted chicken will change your life, and the sweet potato fries with their special dipping sauce... glory! What a pleasant find- while staying at the fairway suites, this was one of the 2 places that was listed as nearby. We decided to give it a try and it was perfect. There was an hour long wait to be seated but we were told by the hostess that we could try to find a seat at the bar. We were pleasantly surprised that there were seats available and sat down right away. The bartender got us drinks and menus as soon as we sat down and our food came out quickly. The burger was delicious- juicy and it tasted homemade. The sweet potato fries came with a cinnamon dipping butter that was awesome. The steak sandwich was really good and the atmosphere was great- it was also during a Sunday night Bills game so there were a lot of other fans there- Go Bills! I was a little confused about the liquor- there was no liquor on the menu, outside of a fall drink cardboard special sign on the bar that wasn't near our seats and that we didn't see until it was too late. We clearly saw liquor behind the bar and weren't totally sure if they had a liquor license at first because on the actual drink menu- no cocktails were listed. It was a great time and this is a great place. If you are staying at Peek'n Peak or Fairway suites, give this place a try. read more

My husband and I met two friends at Pine Junction for dinner. It was in the middle of nowhere, however our GPS took us right to it. The parking lot was not paved and it was very muddy and sloppy from the melting snow. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Saturday evening and waited about an hour to be seated which would typically be expected on a Saturday night. The place was uniquely designed, with a tree extending through the center of the waiting area. Around the tree was an area to stand if one chose to partake in drinks while waiting, and it contained outlets to plug in cell phone chargers. We were seated at a small table that provided no room between us and the guests seated behind us. They had a variety of food selections on the menu that were reasonably priced. Our waitress did not review the specials with us and we had to ask for the soup of the day.In addition, she rarely checked in with us and I had to ask to have my water refilled more than once. I opted for the breaded Chicken Tenders which were dry with very little meat to them. I did enjoy the fries which were shaped as wedges, a different twist. My husband had the Big Beastro and thought it was okay, an average burger. Overall, I found the building of the restaurant to be unique but the food and service was sub par. read more

Our party of 8 waited 90 minutes for a table. Groups of 2 and and 4 who arrived after us were seated long before us. You would think they would have put 2 tables together in order to accommodate our group. I spoke with the manager who neither apologized nor offered an amenity. They only get 2 stars for the decor. When I walked in nobody greeted me I didn't know whether to just sit down or wait and look dumb. No sign telling either or. The beer on tap wasn't bad, wish they had more seltzer options like white claw. Service was so so... The food was very disappointing for me. After seeing reviews online I thought it would've been better. A lot of the stuff is frozen and thrown on a grill not fresh. They have a no reservation policy and we had a party of 10. Two people in our party ended up leaving because our wait was an hour and forty five minutes. Our waiter was friendly and the best part of the experience. He stated they had a full bar but couldn't accommodate two simple drinks. They were out of menu items and the food was okay, not spectacular at all. The food is typical tavern food. Don't bother with the jalapeño caps. They were tiny and bland. The bistro sauce was really good. The Mae West salad was also pretty good. In fact, nobody complained about the food overall. The hostess was snooty and became fairly condescending after we asked a couple times how much longer. We had to sit in our cars despite them having a large waiting area and all of the staff congregating. Clear double standards with little logic. They don't ask tables to clear out for other customers even if it gets back logged. We drove forty-five minutes and it was underwhelming. read more

Kept going a couple miles further and had a wonderful surprise at the French Creek Tavern. Great food and great service. Great setting--great retro-rustic design ambience. Arrived around 8pm and were seated immediately. We ordered the (homemade) pita chips and artichoke dip- very good I ordered the Mae West salad - attractive arrangement of greens, grape tomatoes, onions, eggs, fried onion rings, chicken tenderloin strips grilled in barbecue sauce--all topped with a hot bacon dressing- delicious! My husband ordered the fried haddock, fries and coleslaw. While he said it was pretty good, he would order something different next time. Since the menu has many other options, this is not a problem. My family was recently staying down here for vacation and this placed met the needs of many. Our orders were the broiled "fresh" haddock, steak, ribs, flatbread, chicken fingers, grilled cheese, burger and chicken sandwich. There was 12 in our family so we ordered to go because we could not all sit together during covid (understandable). 4 ladies had the broiled haddock, 3 of them were not fans and said it did not taste fresh. Their sides varied, salad, potato salad, mini potatoes and green beans. The mini potatoes were not liked. I order the white sauce flatbread, it was not bad but nothing to write home about- it was basic, minimal flavor, needless to say I would not order it again. The ribs were cooked perfectly and fell off the bone. The steak and burger were also great. The cornbread with the apple butter sauce were also a hit with the family. Overall it was a good choice for the mass, and I liked the burger I got years ago so I would come back I would just not order a flatbread. read more

The pretzel with beer cheese appetizer was delicious and well worth a try. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals. We had two kids who each said their kraft macaroni and cheese was awesome - kids love Kraft.... their portions were very generous for kids meals. I enjoyed the pizza which I added chicken and onions to and it was cooked perfectly crisp on bottom and moist on top. The other person in our party got a chicken wrap which she enjoyed and said she would get again. We split the warm cookie sundae and chocolate cake which were both good. Went here while attending event in nearby North East PA. I had a very tasty cheeseburger with bacon. This I could tell was not a frozen patty but homemade from ground beef burger, and I had the mac and cheese to go with it. Nice looking place and great service from our bartender who I didnt get name but she was the one who worked Saturday night. Since my last five star review, they have added a beautiful addition but have removed some of the menu items that we used to love (dad-in-law always got the tacos, admittedly an out of place menu item but they were good). This place is the real deal. Not only was our server wicked friendly, but she was also on top of our drink refills and had no problem accommodating anything that we requested. I ordered the piggy back burger which was cooked perfectly and the pulled pork on top was also delicious as well as the sweet potato fries on the side which were crispy yet savory. Another person in my party ordered the lamb chop dinner which was out of this world. Highly recommend it because they do one heck of a job. Stopped in Pine Junction after visiting for the summer. As a vegetarian in this area, my options at restaurants have been pretty limited. Not only was the restaurant itself beautiful, they had a veggie burger! The veggie burger was delicious and my boyfriend really enjoyed his food as well. Highly recommend! read more
