Manor Park & Beach - Henry swimming at the beach!

Manor Park & Beach

This past Saturday, we left the city to visit Larchmont Manor Park and Larchmont Beach...it was…read moretruly a breath of fresh air and fun times! If you are looking for a place that combines elegance with a serene natural environment, this is it. The Aesthetic-- One of the first things you'll notice is the incredible aesthetic. The park's beauty is strikingly similar to the upscale waterfront vibes of Westport and Southport, Connecticut. Waterfront Wonder-- Being right on the water provides a constant, cooling breeze and stunning views of the water, boats, and yachts. Architecture & Nature-- To your right, you get the expansive water views, while to your left, you are flanked by incredible historic mansions. Looking at these beautiful homes while walking through the park adds a unique, high-end feel to the experience. The Boathouse-- Passing the boathouse is a total mood! You really feel that signature nautical energy here. Plus, the boat-watching is top-tier--expect to see some incredible yachts as you stroll by. Seasonal Splendor-- Visiting in the spring and summer is a must! The park is impeccably clean, and the lush greenery against the blue water makes it feel like a private coastal estate. It's incredibly relaxing and provides that getaway feel without leaving the state or having to drive for hours on end. The Park's Security & Strict Standards-- While the park is stunning, it is privately owned and maintained by the Larchmont Manor Park Society, which enforces strict standards for conduct. The grounds are actively patrolled by security to preserve the area for "passive use." We saw this firsthand when a family was asked to pack up their picnic and leave immediately. Because regulations are firmly enforced, it is best to visit for quiet walks and reflection rather than social gatherings or meals, etc. The Rules of the Park-- To ensure you have a smooth visit, keep in mind that the rules are strictly enforced by the patrolling security. * No Picnicking: No food, beverages, coolers, or blankets are allowed on the grass. * No Chairs or Mats: You cannot bring your own seating or padded mats; use the provided benches instead. * No Group Gatherings: Large parties or organized events are prohibited without a permit. * No Sports or Bicycles: Ball playing, Frisbees, biking, skating, and scooters are not permitted. * Leashed Pets Only: Dogs are welcome but must remain on a leash at all times, and you must pick up after them. * Photography Limits: Professional or commercial photography requires a permit and is usually restricted to local residents. * Appropriate Attire: Visitors must wear shirts and shoes; sunbathing in swimwear is only permitted in the specific beach area (which has its own residency requirements). Final Verdict-- Larchmont Manor Park and beach is a 10/10 experience. It offers a level of cleanliness and "Connecticut Coastline" beauty that is hard to find elsewhere near New York City. We had such a great time exploring the winding paths and taking in the views! It's the perfect spot to reset and enjoy the coastline. It's a literal hidden gem for anyone who appreciates a quiet, high-end coastal vibe! Key Takeaways for Your Visit-- * Non-Resident Access to the Beach & Park: While the beach and park share the same coastline, access depends on residency. If you are a non-resident, you'll use a designated section of the beach separated by a fence. To reach the park from there, simply take the path to the right and follow the shoreline past the resident side. It's a short, manageable walk that allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds. * Passive Use Only: Activities like picnicking, loud music, or organized sports are generally prohibited. * Active Enforcement: Expect security to be visible and proactive in enforcing park and beach rules. * Leave No Trace: The Larchmont community maintains a pristine environment. To preserve this, it is essential that all visitors--residents and non-residents alike--leave the space exactly as they found it.

I know that many parks on the western side of Westchester County require a Westchester County Park Pass or proof of Westchester County Residence. There were no signs or anything that said anything of the sort so we parked up and played. This park is lovely. It is very well kept. It has a lovely playground which is right next to the basketball courts. The courts have 4 regulation height hoops as well as 2 shorter hoops, which my little one loved. There is adequate space there to kick around a soccer ball or even fly a kite (yep, we did both). There is a baseball field there as well. I would imagine that the baseball field and the open field space (maybe used for soccer) is used for organized sports such as little league during the spring and summer. There is also a nice trailway which does not have too much to see besides some nice houses (I'm sure the residents there are thrilled with having tons of people look at their property, then again it could make for some great advertising). Overall we had a great time and I will likely to be returning. The park had everything we wanted and was clean and quiet enough. Also...gives me an excuse to go to Half Time...

This playground is one of my favorite in the area. It seems to be on the newer side, as the…read moreequipment is in great shape. There's an area for younger kids, and an area for older kids; and both sections have robust options. (That's not always the case!) There's also ample shade here. I cannot stress how delightful that is, especially in the summer. There's an area of musical instruments, which I've seen at a handful of other playgrounds, but, again, it's in pretty great shape here. The sand area is relatively clean. At least for now! It's also close to downtown in case you have any errands you need to do on your way.

There are musical instruments, swings and multiple structures to climbs, as well as a small sand park area. Many of the structurs have ages printed on them. I would suggest that parents definitely watch smaller kids on some of the structures so they don't hurt themselves. There's a structure with rolling pieces and I would definitely see a kid falling and hurting themselves or getting a finger pinched while moving across. The swingset has swings for different stages and abilities which I love. People form the community gave back to build this wonderful park and it's a great addition to the neighborhood. Be careful walking across the street. The multiple stop signs make drivers impatient and they speed up almost as if to scare you out of the way, despite rushing to another stop sign.

You can access the park either by the steps or a nicely paved pathway, if your knees aren't well enough for the climb or you have a stroller in tow. My family and I came here for the Fall Food Truck Festival and it was way more packed than I would have imagined. I really wanted to get here before it started so that we could get some choice eats before the crowds began to pile up but unfortunately, we arrived about 90 minutes after it began and the lines were already about an hour wait. IMO they had far too few trucks in attendance. When I last checked, over 20K people were interested in attending, via social media sites. My whole reason for coming was for the Cousins Maine Lobster food truck which was a little over an hour wait. Unfortunately, the food wasn't worth the trouble. I had their CT roll which was awesome. Hubby had their shrimp tacos and I tasted; they were good but on the sweet side. I also got their lobster tots which were ok and we both affef soups to our entrées. I got the lobster bisque which was way too sweet and I stole hubby's NE clam chowder which tasted good. I also brought home a whoopie pie and a couple of ginger ales. Whime I waited for my lobster fix, hubby waited on a 45-minute line for the Melt Mobile food truck. He got me a meatball melt which was great! He got himself the short rib melt which was even better. We also shared their cheesecake melt (cheesecake sandwiched between two slices of pound cake and grilled) which was divine! All in all, it was a great event and tons of people came out with their kids and their fur babies. They had live music and some kiddie attractions for entertainment. There was a bit of a walk from parking if you didn't get there early and the lines were seriously out of control but the Cousins food trucks (there were two) were very efficient in the way they organized their line (still over an hour wait). The Five Alarm Pizza Company, a goth-painted fire truck with a full equipped pizza oven built in it, even ran out of pizzas only 2 hours into the event. Next year, we're coming early and bringing chairs even though we were able to snag an empty bench at the kiddie playground.
