It was a hot day but a great day, creating memories that'll last a lifetime. There was more than enough space for chairs, a cooler and then some. Not to mention no issues with parking. Everyone that was playing handball or a variation of it came over with big smiles, remembering the days when this game was played. There's always a Debbie downer and someone who has a problem. One women who plays their all the time had issue with us drawing our board on the ground. Anyway ... still was a great day. We look forward to continuing the tradition for summer 2025.

Additionally there is a basketball court, baseball diamond, four handball courts, a playground, and a few multipurpose fields to name some amenities. Close enough to Pelham Bay Park, you could conceivably do a few laps at the track and jog over here to finish off with some body weight movements. The Bronx needs more parks like Colucci!

Beautiful fall foliage and seasonal plants. Multipurpose space, picnic tables and benches scattered around. There is also a recreation center/gym and public bathrooms. Occasional food trucks and stands nearby for a quick snack. Easy access to the D and 4 trains and buses. Like every urban park, use your street smarts particularly after dark. It is difficult to play sports and see anyway. It can use improved lighting and upkeep on the street lamps around the park.

Cause see, it once was a reservoir...so it's a big, drained-dry-reservoir-turned-park. It's like this double decker park...kind of. There's a running track at the sunken to the bottom of the reservoir, with a soccer field in its middle. Paved, tree-shaded walks surround the lower-level oval and lead you to playgrounds, basketball, tennis, and bocce courts and more. Walk up the stairs, or run up a grassy hill bowl, there's the upper oval. After a good snow, we'd sled down them in our red plastic saucers, though there might be the danger of snow-hidden dog sh*t. The top level strolls round, overlooking the park trough the trees, as neighborhood street scenes outline the rim.

Nice area to play baseball and kids friendly playground that clearly states that parents must be supervising the kiddies at all times . There is a elementary school steps from the park which is closed now due to the coronavirus mess which explains no little brats running around. Not a big park but it's spacious enough for folks to bring the kids , play a little baseball , have a no grilling picnic or just enjoy being outdoors when weather permits .

There are plenty of activities available, here, including several racket ball courts, several basketball courts, a baseball/softball field, a swimming pool (not sure if active), a nice gazebo, and plenty of BBQ spots. It feels totally safe (during daylight), and looks like it's well utilized by its community. I don't live nearby, but would definitely go more often if I had easier access.

It's quiet, clean and calm which is very different from the 12pm craziness you encounter when young kids take over. I have been known to yell not so nice (extreme profanity!!!) things when someone blows a kiss or does the snake hiss thing common to some Bronx men, but that still hasn't altered my perspective of the park. Public parks in the 5 Boroughs, such as St. Mary's, showcase events, full of children's activities, literary events, music performances and live shows, for free. Stomping our way to St. Mary's, my husband and I were fortunate to catch Felix Hernandez's 'Rhythm Revue' segment here. The heat is on, temperature was rising and everyone, for a moments notice, experienced all the excitement with a lot of Boogaloo, salsa and a few selections of classic soul, disco and funk music in a local, South Bronx Park. Bronx resident or not, if this music is up your alley, I'm so sure, you'd bust a groove, too. But, Central Park it's not, nor does it come close. Does St Mary's Park need a major litter-free overhaul? Damn skippy. But the fact is, that residents in this section, all summer long, can enjoy lively events and a little piece of nature in the heart of the South Bronx.

Kids can climb the rocks and feel like they climbed a high peak! The foliage today was stunning. Very recommended.

It's hip to be square, and as for my washing, I have a ton to do. This used to be my playground…read more.. but now it's my laundry room. And it's exactly what it says it is. A kids playground right in the middle of one of the most amazing small parks in the United States. Set in the heart of the East and West and Greenwich Villages, you'll find beautiful Washington Square Park, with its resplendent gorgeous arch that is lit up and shining white at night. Some of the best food in the country is within a quarter-mile of this spot and even more within 1 mile. It's nothing short of magnificent. It's a wonderful place to let your kids play even though it might be a little bit scary in the middle of Manhattan, so keep a good eye on them. It's a safe enough park, especially during daylight hours. At night it becomes really exciting but like I said, stay close to your kids because if they wander off things get really hairy, and I don't mean body hair. One of the best playgrounds in the country, let alone New York City.
