'Ello chaps! Pincho Nation is a tapas/appetizers style restaurant with a lot of circus flare. It's a dining experience for sure. Based in Denmark, there are locations throughout Scandinavia. There is a lot to love about Pincho Nation. The atmosphere is unlike any other place. Lots of fun and flare. The bathroom is a hoot (you'll see) and love having access to just refill our own water for the table. Service is traditional with Norwegian restaurants, where there is a bit of self service involved. You'll need to use an app on your phone to browse the menu and order. This is problematic for international tourists not traveling with international call plans activated (as you'll need a phone number to verify the app). It's a bit problematic, but ask the hostess and they should be able to help. Pincho Nation should consider doing away with this as it's problematic. Once your order is up you'll get a text alert and you can walk up to the kitchen window. That said, the food is delicious and exactly what you see is what you get. Although judging from the photos, it's hard to tell just how small the plates really are. There's a reason why newcomers are told diners typically order 3 - 5 (if not more or less) plates each. They're tiny and there is where the value doesn't fully match what you get. The plates are very small while the price is nearly equivalent to full plate prices. Love the gimmick of the place, and it's fine for a one stop snack - but unlike other restaurants in the area, I would not go there more than once. Overall I give Pincho Nation 4 stars out of 5.

We'd enjoyed a series of great Nordic-style meals on our trip to Copenhagen and then Oslo. But, on…read moreour last night with our granddaughter in Oslo, we craved a change from all those delicious steamed-in-cream muscles, tasty baked salmon and classic smoresbords. Izakaya fit the bill. In fact, it may have ended up being the best meal of our week-long trip. Yes, as you've read and can see from other Yelpers' photos, it's teeny tiny inside. But, when you get lucky and get seated, it's nice and cozy. You certainly aren't merely one 2-top in a long boring row of tables that's for sure. There's no sign outside but because it has a distinctive look on the exterior (see photos of the heavy grillwork on the windows) you really can't miss it. A Yelper's description of 'Japanese tapas' is right on the mark, tho this is a bit of mixed metaphor. Dishes (especially the last two below) are relatively small. Maybe four dishes will do for two people but you'll likely end up as we three did: wanting a bit more. We started with the Gyoza. Definitely delicious and served piping hot. Next was Bang Bang Ji - shredded chicken, julienned cucumber, and a spicy sauce. Good and a nice prelude to the Mazemen. Our hands-down favorite of the night was the Mazemen, broth-less ramen with a delicious sauce, oil, and toppings. Especially delicious with the egg (poached?) mixed in. Had we immediately ordered another three more bowls of this wonderfully tasty dish I doubt if there'd have been much of an objection! Okonomiyaki - a savory pancake. Good. We didn't want to leave without a bit more. So, we ordered the Senmaizuke, pickled turnip and chili with a sweet, tangy vinegar marinade, and the Shiitake no fukumeni, mushrooms simmered in a sweet and savory broth. Both of these relatively small dishes were quite delicious - but really would have tasted best as early appetizers. The Kirin beer really hit the spot. Service was quick and efficient. Pacing was fine with no rush despite the line that had formed in the little foyer. YELPER HINT: if you're stuck in the line but thirsty, you can go on in and stand at a small (2 ft. wide) open section of the bar and order/pay for beers (not sure about their cocktails) and then re-take your place in line. In short, Izakaya could - and likely will - provide your tastiest, most interesting and perhaps even your most delicious meal in wonderful Oslo.

Wanted to check this place out since it was close to my hotel. It seems like a fun place to check…read moreout, but it was not what I expected. Service: There is one host/hostess. There is no waiter for your table, and everything is do it yourself setup. You have to download an app to order your food and wait for a confirmation code to come to your phone. If you are from another country, the confirmation code may not work. Once you order from the menu, you have to pick up your own drink and food. Once you get the app working, you will get a notification to when your drink and food is ready to pick up from the designated areas. Ambiance: The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cool but unfortunately it is very tight with the tables being so close together and not very big inside. Some areas seem very old and may need some additional cleaning. I do not like restaurants that use carpet as their main dining area. In addition, the majority of the sitting areas are high bar tables. I would say as well, even with the nice crowd of people, it was not very loud inside. Food: If you are looking for a fulling menu, this is not what this place is set up for. This place is set up as more of a finger food type of place that has orders placed on a wood plank, and again, you have to go pick it up from the kitchen yourself. Several items of food needed a bunch of seasoning. The only thing that was good was the drinks and the chicken wings. I would pass on everything I had. There are some vegan options, but even those need some additional seasoning as well. Overall: If you are looking for someone where to have a great conversation or just hang out, I would recommend this place. However, if you are in the mood for a fulfilling meal, this is not the place for you. Unfortunately, I can't highly recommend this place.

I sat outside on the awninged-in terrace on a beautiful late-summer night for a late dinner here…read more I was dying for some good wine, so I Yelped for "wine bar" and this place came up near me, so I headed straight over. The service, in fluent English, was friendly and attentive, and my meat lasagna (the daily special) was very tasty, creamy, and amply-proportioned. This restaurant seems much more Italian to me [menu titles in Italian too] than the "tapas bar" designation here, and I must say that I was greatly disappointed at the "vinbar" part of the restaurant's name. While they definitely serve wine, by the glass and the bottle, the selection is definitely not better than any ordinary restaurant, and there are not any particularly intriguing or unique bottles on offer - the list skews mostly Italian, but with several Spanish and French selections too. For sparklers, they had Prosecco, Cava, and Champagne; Italian reds included Chianti, Amarone, Barbera, Cabernet, Valpolicella, and whites a Pinot Grigio and a Soave, and some selections from other countries. It was quite surprising to me for a wine bar to serve wines without any mention of the vintages, too. That's a big no-no in my book. The glass of Chianti was 109NOK and the lasagna 149NOK, for a total of about $32.50USD. If you're looking for a decent, warm meal, Eger delivers. But if very good wine is important to you, you will be disappointed, as I was.

Went in here after walking around for a while, looking for a place for dinner. Had a chicken salad…read morewith penne, mozzarella, etc. The combo was really good..definitely hit the spot for me. Only problem was the chicken...seems it had been over cooked and/or microwaved to death. I didn't send it back because I was starving. When the server asked how things were when I was about 2/3 of the way finished, I told her about the chicken. She said she could have taken it back before, could take it back now, etc., but I said no....it was my fault...I didn't let them know. Anyway...what gives them a plus in my book....is that the server took 30% off the bill. Me, an American who would probably never be there again. High rating for the overall taste of the dish (minus the chicken) and doing the right thing. I willl probably be back before I leave Oslo.
