Was out bar hopping on a Friday night. Came in just before 11pm, the restaurant was still serving food. My friend stopped over to grab a few Jamaican patties- she mentioned they were a bit dry. I've never tried the food, so I'm not sure how it is so my rating is based on the bar side. When we walked in, it wasn't too busy. They had music going and maybe 2-3 people dancing. As you walked further in on the bar side there was strong sewage/sulfur-ish smell. It was very off putting. They do have a patio in the back and the closer you got to the patio you could smell the intense which was nice but that sewage smell was a bit much. We stood by the bar for a while never being serviced. The smell made me not want to stay long anyways. My friends had been there before and said the premixed drinks weren't very good and they had 4 of them which it looked like what almost everyone was drinking. They do have a full bar though. I ended up not staying long but generally didn't seem like my vibe. This wasn't the greatest first impression but I hear really good things about the food so maybe down the line I'll check it out.

Not an easy run to find, but they have it

We tried the sweet plantains and the coconut beans and rice and they were delicious. Apparently the chef had left early for the day, perhaps to be replaced so no wings for us but the remaining staff were of good cheer and because the majority of food is slow-cooked they had plenty of other options available. We were able to order rum and a Wray and Ting before the bar closed, yay! This is a friendly place with a welcoming vibe.

I've loved Pimento since the start at Burnsville Mall. I jumped at the opportunity to have it again. The space is cool and definitely Jamaican vibes. I ordered the One Live plate with boneless chicken and pork. I subbed extra plantains for the coleslaw. So delicious. The service was great as they allowed the substitution. Highly recommend.

Curry chicken, rice and peas, slaw, plantain and Coco bread

Just moved to the area and was excited to find a Jamaican restaurant. Overall, the food was a 4/5. The portion size was plentiful, I definitely am full and have enough left for a meal later. Everything was hot and served quickly. The curry chicken was good with a tiny kick of spicy. The slaw left much to be desired, and the rice and peas had no taste at all (although mixed with the curry chicken sauce, it was good). The customer was average. I had to say, "Hello" first to get a proper greeting outside of, "How can I help you?". But I tend to find this same thing at just about every Jamaican restaurant, so it is what it is, I suppose. The ambiance of this location is cute, bright, colorful, relaxing, and airy. It's clean, and they have neo-soul and Jamaican music playing. It is a perfect combination with the breeze that's currently present. I am done eating but taking in the ambiance! I will most likely give this place another try in the future!

Suuuuuuuper good comfort food from the island. My Jamaican friend recommended it to me. Not super well laid out maybe but the food is on point. Not the most fresh but that might just be the style. Great service super friendly. I got boneless jerk chicken and plantains.

Rice and Beans my mom got. Coconut rice I think.

Could be more of a late night spot but had a very take out feel to it almost cafeteria style. Was hoping to bring my mom because she likes jerk seasoning. I got the jerk boneless chicken and she got the goat. The food was amazing and the staff member was really nice. But of a small selection it felt but maybe I didn't see the whole menu

Old ass chicken.

The food was reheated in the oven from 2 days ago. I don't know who eat this chicken and think it's real Jamaican. WE ARE NOT GOING BACK.

Service was fast. I liked the open air concept, with the almost garage door entrance. The chicken drumsticks were amazing! The on the drum sticks made it good enough to eat by itself. I got the curry. It was like two meals in one. Yum!

The cozy spot

This is a cozy spot.. I would not bring too many folks here at one time, unless they had some hidden seating somewhere?? I've been twice and both times were different. Now what I will say is two things.. 1. Get the DRINKS! 2. GET DEM WICKED WINGS!! They were BOMB! Perfectly crispy! I also had the KINGSTON STYLE JERK CHICKEN, with rice and beans it was dry. I was looking for water! The JAMAICAN PATTIES - Uhhhhhh what is this supposed to be? My patties barely had meat and not much flavor. Hard pass.. SWEET FRIED PLANTAINS - they were too hard.. But back to the wings.. those left a lasting impression! I would go back for those!!

On my first day in Minneapolis, I decided to walk over to Harry Singh's. I was a little concerned…read moreby the boarded up glass door but decided to forge ahead and I'm glad I did. Harry is a friendly elderly man from Trinidad and Tobago. He is apparently very well known in Minnesota, particularly for his curries which I will be sure to try the next time I'm in state. Personally, I'm never able to resist jerk chicken and so upon sitting down, I promptly placed my order for jerk chicken and plantains. Unfortunately he was out of Caribbean punch but he made me a mixture of sorrel and ginger beer that was pretty good although a bit sweet for me. When my jerk chicken arrived at my table, I was in awe of the sheer amount of food I had unknowingly ordered (and very glad I hadn't ended up ordering the curry as well as one person) and of the smell. It was so hot it was smoking and I could immediately smell the flavors were legit and the chicken would be spicy. This jerk chicken was spicy in a way that sneaks up on you. I was surprised to feel my eyes watering! One of the other patrons was coughing from the spice of his meal so if you're not used to spicy food, definitely order a glass of milk in advance! The plantains were perfectly ripe, sweet and well cooked, just like I would make for myself! Harry was very kind and sweet and kept coming up to my table as well as his tables of regulars to chat and exchange stories. I'm not always the most chatty but I didn't feel uncomfortable speaking with Harry. Overall, I enjoyed my time and my meal at Harry Singh's and will be happy to return the next time I'm in the city

I recommend this place for takeout. There is a tiny bit of seating, but I wouldn't count on it. So glad to have a Caribbean option in St Louis Park.

As not to…read moreput any expectations on our host, we wanted to eat enough of a Lunch to get us through to the airport. So thanks to a cursory Internet search (and not knowing the neighborhood) we ended up at Caribbean Tasty, a few miles down the road. It's a strange set up inside as the Caribbean Tasty food counter is straight inside, while a separate butcher counter business was to our left. The butcher guy was the only one around, but after a trip to the back room, the Caribbean Tasty person came out and took our order. Gayle and I split a pulled pork sandwich, which came with a shit load of fries. The meat was a little salty and very flavorful. The fries were tasty and crisp. That combo was a reasonable $14 and more than enough food for the both of us. This space is built more for takeout, but there are a few tables for inside dining. Soft drink/water choices were limited and if I lived in the area, this food would be coming home to pair off with a nice adult beverage.
