    Oxtail Meal
    Mary G.

This place definitely satisfies my craving for jerk food! The service was amazing! It's in the food court so it was convenient but everything looks so clean and the food was delicious! I got the oxtail the rice and sweet plantains! Yum!

I've been going to Jerk King since they opened a few years ago. Best tasting Jamaican food in Minnesota. The jerk chicken was moist and tender. The mixed veggies were excellent. They even had callilou in the veggies. The plantains weren't cooked down enough for me but still tasted good. The rice was soft and really good. I will be back. It's been a while since I've been but their standard of good food and excellent customer service hasn't changed.

Visiting Mall of America. I was hungry and looking at all the food located in the food court area. This mall has so many places to choose from This spot looked good but I wanted to know how many oxtails would I get for $20? Doesn't hurt to ask right ? The employee said 4-5 depending on the size. I suggest you ask before you order. The entire dish was good I ate again here two days later. I like the rice and peas and the chickpeas could have been cooked a little more but they were good. I think this would be a good stand alone spot outside of the mall. The employee said they have another location in Canada

Here's the deal. If you've been to the Caribbean and tasted the real local food, that is nearly impossible to find anywhere outside the Caribbean, save for Crown Heights, Brooklyn where there's a concentration of Caribbean immigrants. Well Jerk King, in a food court nonetheless, has stolen our hearts. This is absolutely the real thing, no holds barred. Pimento is good, but they do cater to the Eat Street crowd. Get the Curry Goat Roti. You'll taste palm trees and blue ocean. Hmmm judging from the other reviews it looks like they may have a consistency problem. Well the 3x we went it was good every time. Go there before they close like all the other Caribbean joints that are short lived in the Twin Cities. Sorry Harry Singh for leaving you out.

Oxtail combo after I didn't like it (LOL)

As I was fast strolling through the MOA Looking for a few gifts I got hungry and ended up in the eateries at the 3rd level of the mall. 1st stopped at Popeyes chicken to grabbed some chicken to go back to the room for later and then I rounded the corner and spotted this Jerk King, I'm a fan of jerked chicken so I was intrigued. Upon inspecting the selections on display in the steam table, I wasn't too excited by the looks of the chicken or the wings. However they also had oxtail that is stewed in a jerk sauce. Guess what I couldn't resist that dish so that's what I opted for. A oxtail combo, white dirty rice and chick peas for sides. This turned out to be the best meal I had the whole trip to Minneapolis. If I didn't have the chicken I bought already I would've ordered another oxtail to go.

Ox tails rice and beans and corn

Was very good. Portion size, temperature and flavor was good. Jerk Seasoning was not as spicy as I thought it would be. Beef patty though! Yes sir! I would come back.

I ordered the ox tail meal, and it came with rice and optional side of chick peas. I also had a couple of pieces of fried chicken with spicy jerk sauce. All in all, I thought it was just OK, tasted like something you would get at a buffet... chicken was dry from sitting out but still pretty tasty, reminds me of chicken from cub foods. Ox tails in sauce are just mediocre. Spicy jerk sauce is just OK, and the chicken peas were OK (nothing to write home about). Would love to try the jerk wings next time. Friendly staff....

A very large portion of the ox tail with beans & rice and curry chickpeas. Come Hungry!

I have three reasons why this is a 5-star review. My first and possibly most important note for this place is that you will easily feed 2+ people with the surprisingly large portions they serve. You will not walk away from a meal at Jerk King still hungry. Definitely won't be able to walk away quickly. Next, the excellent lovely ladies behind the counter were just like they were serving up food for guests at home. Smiles and warmth, making sure I felt welcome and taken care of. Last but certainly certainly not least, the wave of flavors. All Caribbean smells, flavors, spices, and hearty heat are present and accounted for. I love ox tail for plenty of reasons, and Jerk King is bringing their A-game. Full of the Carribean spice and subtle heat, smothered in that jerk sauce with a surprise hit of ginger and lemongrass, I was still eating even after I was full. I'm sad I won't have another chance to eat here for a while since I was just passing through.

Ox tail mwah with 2 kinds of spice red beans and rice and a mixed vegetable

As a chef and a small business owner I love ox tail and this spot is the real deal not only authentic, but also the person that helped me was amazing and also someone from the Caribbean herself so it was really cool experience. The food was amazing 10 out of 10 but highly recommend the oxtail with the sides of red beans and rice and vegetables the spicy level was really on point for the culture and everything else is so good. I would recommend it any day .

bunch of frozen vegetables it looks like and they just top it off with jerk sauce.. nothing at all worth the $13 for a jerk vegetable roti. the roti was burnt as well!

Jerk chicken and fried chicken with veggies, beans and rice, topped with spicy (yes it's lip tingling spicy) and a little ox tail sauce..

OMG it's freaking good. The combination of spice, sweet, seasoning , tenderness, . It's an explosion of flavor then that spicy sauce kicks in. Almost feels like that sour patch kid commercial lol. At first it's sweet and then boom!!! That heat hits you. It's not unbearably hot though. Well not to me anyway. I have some cajun genes so my tastebuds are not the norm. I'm pleasantly surprised at the heat it dishes out. The cook was actually up front and recommended it. I was eyeing those ox tails to be honest. But she veered me onto this chicken. I am not regretting my decision whatsoever. Excellent recommendation and service. Fast and friendly. Also inside small of America. (Food court 3rd floor) FYI there are 2 food courts in this floor.

Jerk "roti" and a separate bought rice and peas. I seen someone on Yelp call it "White dirty rice" bruh dirty rice is way different. Smh.

Yelp reviewers have no taste. They just want a slab of meat and they're all happy. I should've tried their sauces before I bought anything. The barbecue sauces were all ketchup based. They added in too much apple cider vinegar and the sauces were too viscous and runny. A good barbecue sauce has molasses, brown sugar, and tomato sauce not ketchup and white sugar which is what these were made from. I'd have been better off bringing in my own bottle of barbecue sauce from the grocery store. We ordered a half rack 6 ribs and two sides of coleslaw and potato salad. The coleslaw was runny and too liquidy. It had zero buttermilk in it. It was also made with apple cider vinegar which is a HUGE NO, NO. The potato salad was meh. No mustard. Just white potato salad. THEY HAD NO CORNBREAD! How much does a box of jiffy cornbread cost?!? Seriously, this business should NOT be in the rib business. The half rack of ribs: DRY, DRY, DRY. They were baked way too long. The ribs were flavor-less. I would not go back again. It's a huge shame for a rib joint to be this bad. The ribs were such a huge disappointment. Not even a smoked flavor was ever detected. I hope they don't go down the liquid smoke route either because that's just driving off a cliff at that point. I'm DONE listening to yelp reviews. Yall have no clue what you're talking about.

I had the tenders, with BBQ and Mild sauce. They were super yummy and juicy and came with a great dipping sauce. I also appreciated the seasoning on the fries and the pickles served with the tenders. The strips were crisp, but I wouldn't say they were "crunchy" crispy. The chicken meat was moist and tender, but I did think most of the flavoring came from the comeback sauce and the spice coated on the strip, but nonetheless when eaten all together it was a morish piece of friend chicken. The batter was not too oily either. The fries were battered and very crispy with a soft fluffy interior, and the pickles were acidic and refreshing in between each bite. For the price of $13, it was filling and a good bang for the buck. Not the best fried chicken I've had but very solid. Shout out to the cashier who also recognized my brother after he had just been here a couple weeks prior since he had ordered the exact same thing.

Located on the south side, 3rd floor. The first thing I noticed when I walked up was that they were out of so many items!! They had a tv screen with napkins blocking at least 3-4 items saying "sold out." I also noticed their fountain soda was sold out of every flavor except Starry and Pepsi. That's wild to me. This is the Mall of America! Despite being out of so many items, the item I was there for, was still in stock. I couldn't help but notice the counters were very dirty. The front of this place also had a lot of trash around it. The mall does get very busy, but this was not a good look, and there are plenty of food joints around here that looked clean. The girl who took my order was straight to the point, no greeting. Just "what do you want." I ordered a number one. This includes 6 wings a side of your choice and a beverage. Soy garlic seems to be the most popular, so I got that. The food was handed to me fairly quickly. But it was not what I ordered. I like a good bone in wing, and I was given the number 2- boneless wings.... Because I don't mind those, I didn't say anything and just took my food. Do not get the boneless! They are spongy, had dark meat in them and at one point I spit out the wing because it just tasted like old chicken! There was barely any sauce on the wings! The fries were standard. The starry tasted like cleaning chemicals and I did not drink it. May be the stand alone restaurants are better, but this was actually disgusting. I will not be returning to this location. I ordered the Social salad. It was good but the presentation was trash. I also got a cup of the She - Crab soup. It was also just okay and certainly overpriced. Husband got the Pork Belly Burnt Ends at my suggestion. He asked if they had sauce added to them and if so, to get it on the side. Our server said they are prepared and the sauce caramelizes so no, no sauce. He asked due to being a type 1 diabetic and needed to calculate his insulin. Well, they came out covered in fresh sauce and were too dry to swallow. There were six chewed up bits of pork left on his plate when it was cleaned away. The Texas toast was the only redemption. Lastly the two others shared the half bird entree. Presentation was haphazard and the chicken was visually dry looking. They ate most of it and said the biscuit and sweet potatoes were good. The food alone wasn't bad enough to keep me away; but combining it with the service was. Our server Laura (sp?) didn't make her debut well after we've been sitting 10 minutes. We were there at 5:30 on Sunday. It wasn't busy at all. She was very nice. Her second stop was to take our orders. Food runner came and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for water as my glass was bone dry (I even ate my ice) and others' were 1/4-1/3 full. She said she couldn't bring beverages. It's water...not vodka. Weird. So Laura eventually comes back and filled our drinks and left the bill. She did overhear the birthday happenings and was nice enough to offer a free dessert. She got her cash payment and we never saw her again. Maybe it was the end of her shift? It just felt off. The table next to us had quite a few complaints and had a different server, so maybe there was just a bad vibe with the staff today? Hopefully management can figure it out. Bathrooms were nice and decor was nice throughout the restaurant.

I typically try and find eateries that I don't frequent back home. Then again, I haven't hit KFC much. I used to after work when I worked from the office. I hit this KFC's drive-thru to check it out. I had chicken tenders on my mind. However, when I spotted the mac and cheese combo with popcorn chicken on top, I knew that I had to order it. There was one car ahead of me. When it was my turn, I placed my order. I got a Diet Pepsi as my drink with this combo. I paid with a credit card. My meal was well under $9 with tax. I got my food pretty fast.
