Basically, the same issue that was covered in the review from Sep 2021. I'm so sad that I didn't read it before ordering. Spent a huge amount of time designing. Preview looked perfect. However, while printing images were obviously compressed and therefore blurred and grainy (originally high quality pictures!) Some of them became so dark that it's hard to distinguish a face. Fabric inside cover wasn't glued. The birthday present was ruined, and money lost. I paid 170cad (without a discount it should have been 225!) for such a low quality product. I'll have to find another place to have the photobook reprinted :-( read more

This review is about the in person customer service. I was there yesterday to pick up my order. The person assisting me was surprised to see me there. He said they were closed. I expressed my dissatisfaction with their communications on their store hours. I explained when I placed my order using their online system for pick up it provided me with a pick up date of Friday, April 18. This fit for the timing I needed the photos. The delivery option was too long. I was preparing to pick up on April 18 only to learn they were closed. The person assisting me did not validate my frustration with their communications. I never experienced that type of costumer service to not acknowledge their part in the communication. My instincts of this person told me I wasn't a costumer worth their time. My complaint was not important to them. After 10 years of using their service it is time to look elsewhere. read more

After 2 weeks of messaging with slow responses, Pikto has responded a third time to me saying "please call us and we will work to resolve your issue". I already gave customer support my number asking to call, after which the rep said they were too busy for that, and now they apparently can't be bothered to look it up and give me a call. The owner reached out to me and explicitly stated that he doesn't want to spend the time or money to proof documents before printing, so there you go: Pikto falsely promises professional service and quality, and only cares about their bottom line. read more

Save your time and money. Don't use Pikto. Longer version: I am amazed at the number of ways Pikto found to screw up my order. I brought in two redscale negatives to be printed. Given it is not a standard order I took care to show which negs to print and noted that it was redscale film. When i arrived to pick up the prints I found that they only managed to get one of the two negs correct. More amazingly, they printed them in black and white, not color. Pikto was good enough to rush the job through that day to fix it. However, I go back again later in the day to get the reprints only to find now that they've printed the negs backwards. To top it off, I get home and see that they've also given me an envelope of someone else's prints as well as the ones they screwed up for me. read more

As a professional wedding photographer, I need a reliable print shop where I can order prints of varying sizes but also have the option available to do some minor touch ups if needed via a workstation. Pikto offers that. I have placed many orders through these guys and they do a pretty good job each time. The print shop staff are actually pretty nice to work with. They take the time to answer my questions (as long as they're not too swamped with orders) and take care with my prints. I've also printed a photo book with them. It was okay. Just okay. Think high school yearbook-style of album with fancier cover options. It was a one time deal and I now outsource all of my albums to a company in the US. The reason why I don't give them a 4 star rating or higher is because of their prices. It's one price for all. Regular Joe or Pro Photog, there's no deviation of pricing (unless you order prints in mass quantities... but that's available for everyone too). I'd go back more regularly if they offered pro pricing but it doesn't make sense to print with a lab that any of my clients could go to and get their prints for the exact same price. Have been dealing with Pikto for about 6years .... They are cosistantly on time and my images are always amazing... Anytime there is a problem .. It's usually my fault... With any place like this mistakes sometimes happen ... But they are always fixed and I'm usually more than compensated. read more

I had been a Pikto customer for a few years. They seem to have made some company changes. First is a $10 minimum charge for printing that doesn't work for me. I do a lot of orders that are only a few prints, usually under $10. A second seems to be an operator, the machine that makes the book, or the new book software that I hate using. Either way, I had multiple $400 books that were printed wrong and I never received any word back after emailing them to voice my concern. The files that I uploaded had the correct bleed and text was within the cut and bleed lines. The text still got cut when the book was put together. In general, there are other companies out there that care more about the customer and produce a better product. I'll admit, their acrylics and canvas prints are good. Print quality has gone down. A lot. Unless you're looking for some quick small prints, I wouldn't recommend enlargements at pikto.

I was taken to Pikto by one of my closest friends who also happens to be a photographer. The Distillery District is not an area in which I frequently hang, but the last couple trips made me think that I should. Pikto is a really cool place, even for a regular citizen such as myself. Workstations to be rented by the hour, for all the things that these camera-toting, globe-trotting artists need to do with their digitized images to make them ready for printing, which they also do here. Another amusing activity that you'd (read: I'd) never considered: printing your own photobook! A perfect tool for displaying either work that you've created or work that was created in your honour (portfolios for artists or models, respectively), or a great way to celebrate and immortalize your own fun, friends and family. I recently got a tour of the book-binding facilities and got to see some from each camp. It was also pretty damn exciting. They carry a wealth of specialty magazines, useful and novelty photo gear, comfy places to sit while you peruse, and some very attractive frames and other display devices. A coffee bar that brews close-to-my-heart Balzac's, and a mini-gallery display that changes monthly make this a rare combination of specialty shop and artsy hang-out. read more

Once customer was great, they were very quick to resolve the issue. I received my photos in a timely manner.

Terrible service on top to be too expensive. Be aware that opening hours sent through their confirmation email system are inaccurate. And if you try to call them, do not expect to talk to anybody. You will have to leave a message and expect several days before to get a call back, or no call back at all. Overall, they do everything that a company should not do from a customer service stand point. Will definitely not use them again. read more

I really like Pikto so consider the rest of this review a swayed bias. (is that even proper english?) At any rate, Pikto is the place I go to get my large prints done when I'm in a bind. I rent a workstation, run upstairs, convert my images to Pikto's printer's profiles, and in about 25 - 35 mins (this time can/will vary) I have my prints in hand. I'm talking about images 25" and larger but Pikto also prints every other size you could ever want including the ever popular 4x6s. Pikto is also a great place to check out photography books, magazines, accessories, portfolios, their on site gallery, and even pick up your very own Holga! The greatest thing about Pikto though, are the people. They are always friendly, always dying to help and answer your questions, and never make you feel like a tool when you ask ridiculous questions. Oh, they also have a small cafe you can sample while you wait for over sized, last minuet prints! read more

I asked them to pick up my booklet sooner than it was scheduled because I got an interview and I needed my portfolio. make the long story short, That $175 was the best money I spent on print. they gave my booklet sooner when I asked them. they really did their best. the quality of my portfolio was great. the colours everything was PERFECT. I visited Pikto in 2013, my friend use to work there she introduced me to the C-prints, it's becoming harder to find nowadays. She had a strong expertise in printing and fine art photography. I would always get the C-prints. Since I had my friend printing the photos she always took her time getting the colors right and looking the best. I was always pleased with the results under her. At the time I think Pikto was transitioning from the fine art side to the commercial side of photography. I heard it was a much nicer looking place before She left Pikto, I had someone else print the c-prints. The color was way off and the quality was mediocre. I noticed that some of the "hipster" employees were standoffish. It kind of threw off the vibe of the place. I use to pick up the photos in the store and visit my friend. I feel some of the employees don't put any effort into the quality of the prints, like an I don't care kind of attitude. It seems like a stressful environment under whoever is running it. read more

I had problems with their online ordering system even when I followed the instructions step by step. I was told that the problem may be that my files are too large to transmit - if I knew this beforehand I would have resized my images, but I needed these prints ASAP and had no access to a computer. I spent almost the entire day trying to call the store to rectify this; sometimes I would get a fax tone, other times I would get no answer at all. When I did speak to a staff, they offered no reasonable solution. I ultimately asked for a refund. read more

Do not bother going here if you would like prints that are even remotely true to your images. I printed here twice using their online system. The first time I clicked 'colour correct' accidentally, and the prints came out dark and green. I thought that was my fault, so I tried different prints with no colour correction. Same result - grey and yellow-green prints. I understand there will be differences between print and monitors, but my monitor is calibrated and the difference should not be that extreme. Also, the first time I went the guy blatantly ignored me, and the second time they were certainly far from friendly. Not impressed. The only thing I would say for them is that they are very fast, affordable, and the online system is easy to use. But that is not worth much if the prints are useless. read more

I needed to create a photobook for our wedding our parents and ourselves and Pikto was recommended to me. The fact that they were a small local business was a huge plus for me. I have used other online photobook companies but they either outsourced their work overseas, or I was being charged USD, so I thought I'd give Pikto a try. Pikto's prices were a bit steeper than these online companies, but I wanted to support local business. Customer Service - I had a couple bumpy patches throughout the process of creating my photobook and ended up creating tickets and contacting Pikto a few times. I do have to say their customer service is amazing. One of my issues came up at 11 PM, well outside their business hours. I sent in my inquiry, and to my amazement, I got a response fairly quickly. So kudos to Pikto on that account. Product - I had very high hopes for my Pikto photobook. Having used random online companies before and receiving amazing products, I thought my experience with Pikto would be no different. Also, this was for our wedding photobook that we are also planning to give to our parents for Christmas and had high expectations. So, after waiting nearly 2 weeks to receive the books, I have to say I am disappointed. The colours are super dull. The photos are blurry. I put some pictures of our invitation suite as well as some photos with writing and you cannot read them at all in the photobook. It is just blurry and looks terrible. The pictures I used were very high resolution photos. I even developed some at a crappy Loblaws photo kiosk just to make sure my actual photos weren't blurry - they're not. Can't say I'm pleased with our photobooks. I guess if this was a random photobook for a vacation, then I probably wouldn't care that much, but this is our wedding album and we spent quite a bit of money and time on this. I really wanted to like Pikto but I have to say I will not be using them again. It also sucks because Christmas is a week away and we have to give our parents a blurry wedding album. read more

Never use Pikto. If you want every order done multiple times to get it right, then Pikto is your place. From ink-jet prints to Photo Books Pikto CAN NOT get it right the first time. AND they don't care. Horrific customer service and support. They are located in the Distillery District in Toronto, which is a nice place to visit. I was so excited to find Pikto and see such good reviews on their photo books. I ordered a couple 8x8 soft covers, hoping to continue to order from Pikto each year for our family year books. Their editing software is fantastic and easy to use. Shipping was expensive and was delayed. The photo books got here and I was so disappointed. Cross page images got completely lost in the binding. It was not iPhone picture friendly, I'm not sure if their software compressed the images or what happened but they came out pixilated and grainy. Our professionally taken wedding pictures did turn out good except for the binding issue mentioned above. Overall I will have to order my photobooks again from someone else because The quality is not good enough to keep them. Pretty disappointed as I had spent weeks designing them and had reffered my sister in law to them and she also made a couple books. She ordered the hard cover 8x8 and they turned out a bit better but still had that binding eating the middle of your picture issue. read more

I've been consistently happy with Pikto for photo prints, so I recently went their to have several photo books printed. After reading many negative reviews of their book service online I was a little nervous to use them, but I decided that given my good history with them I'd give them a shot anyways. I wasn't disappointed: the books came quickly and look great. That said, I've consistently found the staff to be mediocre. Not bad by any stretch, but they always seem a little out of it. Often when getting prints I've been told they'll be ready in an hour, but I come to pick them up only to be told it'll be another hour. That sort of thing is probably why I believe other people's negative reviews. In the end, though, I've never personally had any serious problems, and I'll keep using them and recommending them. read more

I was extremely excited when I saw my Pikto package in the mailbox! And then I opened it...alot of the pictures came out blurry and grainy and they are just unusable. My question is why wouldn't someone alert me to let me know that photo adjustments or touch-ups or changes are required...I would have been happy to pay for it. When I viewed the pictures on the ROES software none of these issues were apparent. I can't believe after printing the photos they thought it would be acceptable. As a first time and obvious last time customer, I was not impressed with the service. Their response was that the files were not large enough or of high quality! I just received my shutterfly package yesterday for the same photos and they are perfect...half the price and better quality! read more

Pikto makes beautiful products, but in all the times I have been into the store, not once has a salesperson spoken to me. Sometimes they don't even make eye contact, while other times they look up, but don't even say hello. Welcoming someone to the store and being available to speak to is one of the primary features of working on the sales floor, I assume. There has always been no more than one or two other people in the store. What a turn off. It's sad because I like their product, but I don't want to get my wedding album made at a place where I get bad vibes. We did a comparison between Blurb + Pikto. We received both books through the mail. When the Pikto book arrived it wasn't packed properly. Because of this the cover of the book was damaged and the corners of the pages were already distressed. When looking at the the 2 books next to each other we noticed that the printing on the Pikto book was blotchy. When we called the company about the damages and printing they were rude and denied that it was their fault. They refused to give us a refund and didn't even offer to reprint the book. Terrible customer service. We are stuck with a book that isn't acceptable to show and we had to pay for it. It is ridiculous! We will never recommend this company to anyone. Blurb is much better and the customer support is 100% better. read more
