Love this addition in the Chinatown neighborhood! Having been here usually on weekends, they do get…read morequite busy (both cafe side and photo lab side). I usually get a flat white and you can let them know if you will be drinking in store so they do not give you a to go cup. The resident dog in store (I hope it is because each time I see him there haha) is adorable and so well behaved!! I really enjoy the vibes here but do keep in mind the store is slightly below ground level and there are stairs going down so not wheelchair accessible.

I stumbled upon Graination as I was walking along Spadina this week. I saw the words "specialty…read morecoffee" and I knew I had to pay a visit inside. Turns out they are in their soft opening currently where they opened about a week or two ago. Despite the coffee shop in the front of the store, they also have a photo lab at the back of the space. I saw lots of film being sold as well as overheard that they have processing services as well. I primarily came to try their coffee so I can't comment much on the photo lab services. Coffee wise the menu is basic and simple. A bit on the pricer side compared to other coffee shops in the city. They use Hatch coffee beans. I ordered a flat white to consume there. The staff were friendly and attentive and my drink was made at a reasonable time. The flat white was great. As I sipped on my drink, I admired the photography on display. They also have photography books to browse through as well! Overall, great new addition to the Chinatown area. Love the coffee and photo lab concept. Definitely would return to spend time in the space for a coffee!

Scarborough Passport Photo Centre - Entrance

A while back, when I used to work at Yonge and Eglinton, I took the subway up to the Passport…read moreCanada location at Yonge, just north of Sheppard. I remember seeing a photo centre in the lobby if you needed a passport photo. Ten years ago, I got my passport renewed at the Passport Office at Scarborough Town Centre. I remember seeing a similar photo centre back then on the main floor. I realized that they are owned by the same folks. Last month, while standing in line at the Passport Canada office in Scarborough to have my documentation checked and to grab a number to head upstairs for part two of my passport renewal process, I looked at the Scarborough Passport Photo Centre in front of me. Although I am not the type who would get my photos taken here first, followed by jumping into the passport lineup, I do like that this photo establishment is here: - If you like that stress to do your photos at the last minute, you can here - If your original photos for your visa, passport, or whatever are either outdated or invalid after speaking to a Passport Canada person, you can get them done here and continue the application process without returning on another day I was envious that there weren't any lineups to get your photo taken. This place had steady business on a Monday afternoon. Prices aren't posted outside the door. While standing in a passport lineup maze, there was a poster of the types of photos that this store does. It didn't have any prices. I find that if you plan ahead to get your passport photos taken, you'll pay less. The best deal that I know of is if you are a CAA Plus or Premier member. Passport photos are free with your membership. Otherwise, it's under $10 if you're a classic CAA member and $20 if you're a non-member. I used to be a CAA member when I had a car that didn't have roadside assitance. My current car does with Toyota, so I haven't had a need to be with CAA. I went with Grace Convenience to get my passport photos done. It was $14.99 for two photos and they worked out nicely. They were done in ten minutes and looked professional. At this place, passport photos are $25. You are paying more for them. However, it does look like a professional studio when you peer into the store. I saw shirts there. My guess is that if your attire isn't suitable for a passport photo, you can change into a shirt that is available at this store. It's brilliant. Hopefully, it's a clean shirt that is laundered after each customer wears it. It's smart to have such a business next to Service Canada for your passport, visa, permanent residence, and more that require a photo with your application. I personally won't be using it as I'm more of a planner who likes to check out prices. However, if you are in a bind for a quality photo, this place is for you. (119)

Dear Yasmin Samji! I am extremely disappointed with the…read morequality of the photo taken at your center. It is completely unsuitable for use in a passport. The skin tone in the photo is so distorted that a person with light skin appears dark. The photo does not look like my real appearance at all. I tried to return the photo and get money, but my requests were ignored and I had to leave. It seems that for you, Canada is just a way to make money and what you write in your preface does not correspond to reality. It is very sad to encounter such an attitude towards clients.

There is no one higher to go to for support, they apparently have all been trained identically. I took 9 rolls of 35mm film of my daughter's wedding to Henry's on September 11th, had to pay $243.00 in advance, it is now October 21st and no one knows where these films are. They apparently were sent to Fuji to processing and were received September 18th....end of the line, no one can tell me where they are now and I have tried every phone number available to get an answer, the best I get is "we will send an email and get back to you", when asked how long that would take I was told "I don't know". I asked if there was a phone number they could call and I was told NO. The service is terrible when you walk into the store, three people standing around and no one will serve you. When I finally got someone to talk to me he plastered a smile on his face and gave me a total run around, no direct answer, even when I asked if they were actually lost his reply was "I like to be optimist and think positive"....what the he... kind of answer is that. He then proceeded to say they would give me a discount if they found them. MAIL YOUR FILM IN, GO TO A PHOTO BOOTH, GO TO THE STATES TO GET THEM DEVELOPED BUT DO NOT GO TO HENRY'S.

Canada's Greatest Camera Store. Hmm - what a sad statement on the condition of the Canadian Camera…read moreindustry. While visiting my daughter in Toronto, she asked me if I could have her film delivered. A quick Google search found me this store. Their byline obviously raises the bar of expectations. When I walked in there were 3 employees - the oldest of which MIGHT have been 20 years old and one of them was on his cell phone when I walked in and never looked up the entire time I was there. I told the teenage boy working I needed 2 rolls of film developed and wanted double prints. He told me he'd have to go ask his manager how to do the double print portion of the job. When he returned, rang me up and told me the price I was a little shocked. $75 for 2 rolls of film - and they'd be back in THREE WEEKS! When I jokingly said - "Where in the world are they developed that it takes so long and costs so much?" The boy waiting on me said "I don't know - somewhere in California." Then the mop topped manager chimed in "There the same price everywhere you go man." First of all - as a paying customer - I'm not "man" - "sir" maybe - but "man"? Save that for your buddies or your dorm mates. These guys were so unprofessional I told my daughter to sell her non-digital camera and move on. Terrible.
