I placed an order at 6:00pm on Thursday, August 1, 2013 for the framing of a painting. Immediately following said purchase, I attended several competitors whose prices were approximately 50-60% lower for the exact same product. At this point I realized that the owner, Bill, was taking advantage of me as a result him being aware that I was not knowledgable regarding art products. The following morning at 9:00am I left a voicemail advising Bill to cancel the order I had placed the previous night. I received a rude telephone call around approximately 11:00am same day from Bill. He proceeded to yell at me that "the deal is done", and "I should have paid more for the frame" and then he slammed the phone on me.
I arrived at the store at approximately 4:30p.m. on August 2, 2013. I spoke to Bill and told him that I was very upset by the way he spoke to me on the phone and asked him why he was not being reasonable in cancelling my order. Bill then proceeded to point his finger in my face, raising his voice and snarling his teeth, stating "once the money leaves your hand and enters mine, the deal is done." When I politely asked him to discuss the matter reasonably he got directly in my face and yelled at me, "you think I work for you. No. Once you give me the money, its mine". He then yelled at me to "get out of his store".
I asked Bill why he would treat a customer like this and politely asked that he calm down and we discuss the matter civilly. Bill then yelled at me, stating "if I did not leave the store he would call the police". He then picked up his business phone and called the police and told them to send an officer because a customer was refusing to leave the store. I briefly described the above-noted events to the 9-11 operator and they were aghast at how Bill was treating me. The 9-11 operator asked Bill if he could simply give me a refund and he flat-out refused. Sadly, there were several customers in the store that witnessed this debacle.
As someone who has lived in this beautiful neighborhood my entire life, it saddens me that an individual such as this continues to operate. I certainly hope his business and his attitude bids the neighborhood a swift goodbye.
