Updating my previous review, which is a bummer: We've been coming to Pigtails & Crewcuts Westminster for 5 years now. While we have loved this place and have had a great experience over that time (see my prev review from 2020), given the recent price increases, it's outside our budget moving forward. With 2 little boys, it ran our family just under $80 ($79 and some change) for 2 cuts plus a 20% tip for the stylists this past weekend. That's not manageable for the frequency of maintaining little boys' styles for us. We will be sad to leave the business, but that's pretty excessive and just not sustainable for our budget for 2 little dudes' cuts. read more

This place is so cute and my cousins hair came out great! He got exactly what he wanted; I wish I had a picture of it. It's so colorful and fun in there, and the kids can get lollipops and prizes when they're done from a treasure chest. It's good for really young kids, as they have cute little car chairs to sit in while they get their hair done, but it's also good for older kids, as they do have normal haircutting chairs too. They do hair cuts and hair dos too. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Took my son for his first professional hair cut. I put it off for weeks feeling anxious about how'd he react. Wasn't an easy cut, cried the entire time. The staff were so sweet, understanding and quick. Even with the tossing and turning in my lap, the stylist still gave him a clean handsome haircut. Very dissappointed in this particular location as I drove across town because my daughter loves getting her hair cut here, but when we showed up at 6:15 on a Monday and walked in the door we were told they had already closed but forgot to lock the door. Clearly on the door we just walked through it showed that closing time was 7:00. read more

We have been here twice and my son loves it. I'm so horrible with names but he has had the same stylist twice and I mean it when I say she is an EXPERT at cutting wiggly kids hair. You know how seasoned sailors can walk on a boat in big waves and not waiver? That was her while cutting my son's hair while he looked back and forth at the TVs and toys and literally everything. It's pricey for a kids haircut but it's totally worth it to not listen to him scream anywhere else! read more

This was our first time here and the online booking site, which was very easy to use, gave us a random stylist who ended up being Cindy. She was fabulous! I lost the photo of the haircut my son wanted, but she knew exactly what I was referencing. I wouldn't have blamed her at all if she didn't though. My son's hair came out exactly how he wanted it, we were in and out in within 10 minutes, and it was a great experience. So disappointed writing this review... We frequently go to pigtails and crew cuts for our kids hair and have the same person every time (she is amazing). Yesterday, we had made an appointment weeks ago for our daughter to get her ears pierced. We were running 10 minutes late. I CALLED and said "hey were 10 minutes late, it's our fault, do you need us to reschedule?" She said, "no problem, we can do it." We get down in 7 minutes, walk in the door with our two babies and she says "sorry your a minute late we're closing." Mind you it's, 6:47... our appointment was at 6:40 and they told us to come down. The lady was horrible to us. She said she needs two piercers and one of them needs to leave at 7.... Then why accommodate a 6:40 appointment for ear piercing. When we walked out frustrated, the lady (blonde lady) shut the door behind us and proceeded to talk HORRIBLY about myself and family. We could hear everything she was saying through the walls as we were loading our kids back in the car. I have never felt so sad and I was so embarrassed. Overall I'm disappointed, appointments are not honored. Customers are not valued. And I will have to take my five kiddos somewhere else for haircuts moving forward. Why have a kid salon if you can't understand that it's hard loading kids up even when you try and be on time stuff happens, but to tell me it's okay to still come down and treat me like that in front of my kids and husband!? read more

This review is to provide feedback for the new management. Spent all morning calling with no one answering the phone, made the 30 minute drive over with my kids, only to find out they don't take walk-ins anymore as of May 1st. Appointments only with a 5-minute grace period or you lose your spot. Extra star because the employees are kind and doing the best they can under the new rules that aren't very family-friendly especially as their clientele is primarily young children. read more

Sure cute salon for kids, it really was a nice experience for my son who is 2 1/2. He loved sitting in the seat shaped like a car, and it was very kid friendly. I was very grateful that they were able to squeeze us in on a Saturday afternoon but after the hair dried and we were at home, I was able to see how bad the hair cut was. I understand that he is a wiggly toddler but this absolutely does not excuse how bad this turned out. At the end she didn't even comb it so I couldn't tell while it was wet either as it was all over the place. We have had two good experiences prior to this (including the first haircut) but will absolutely not go back. read more

This salon is so wonderful! We've been bringing my little brother in for a few years now because of the great service and friendly stylists. Theyre usually booked during the weekends but still do take walk-ins (what we usually do) and we get our turn quite quickly. The cartoons and movies they play definitely get the kids to sit still and focus on something else to get a quick cut. They do a nice, clean job, asking what we'd like as they cut (Jessica was our stylist today). They always give a sucker and let my little brother choose a toy from the treasure chest. They go out of their way to make our experience comfortable. The price is well worth it, in my opinion. read more

Five stars for both ear piercing and kids haircuts. I love this place!! Allow me to elaborate... I bring my 3 kids (7, 6, & 4) to get their hair cut here whenever I can. We live 30 min away so I try to be strategic and plan playtime at Little Monkey Bizness which we also love and is next door. They consistently do a great job on both my girls and boy which is more than I can say for the kids salon closer to my house. About a month ago I brought my two girls here to get their ears pierced. It was such an incredibly positive experience for all three of us, I will forever shout it from the rooftops to whoever will listen about how great this place is. The two women who helped us were calm, patient, professional and maybe most importantly, quick! (We had brought my oldest to get her ears pierced over a year ago to a tattoo/piercing place based on other recommendations and it was a total disaster, ending with her in tears from fear and me in tears after a 45 minute wait with no piercing. So skip the tattoo place and go here when your kiddos are ready for ear piercing!) read more

Walked a little late because of a really bad car accident and the lady cutting hair rudely talked over the lady at the front desk and said, "we have a five minute late policy and we can't see you" her attitude and everything was very rude. Took my 3 year old in for a cut today. Asked them if they took walk-ins and how long the wait was going to be. The lady said about 1hr. Waited for 2+ hrs while we saw other walk-ins get their hair cut before us. Finally just walked out of the place. Will NEVER go back to this place. read more

I have brought my kids here before and it's been a good experience. Today my daughter and I walked in 4 min late. Appointment was at 11:40 and we walked in at 11:44. There was a woman that walked in before us and the one hairdresser on the floor helped her then yelled to the back that she needed someone at the desk. The young woman that came to the desk then told me I was past their 5 min policy. I let her know that I was within the five minutes but it took her three to walk to the front to help me. She huffed and went to get her manager who was awful. The woman told me that she was at the desk at 11:47 so I wasn't there, essentially calling me a liar. From looking at reviews it seems that this is a common theme and that the 5 min late policy is pretty ridiculous and seemingly sets this business up for customer service failure. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Really the best place for a kid's haircut. I've tried other places and they mess up my daughter's hair. Every visit has been pleasant and the place has been nice and clean. They have always been very efficient and cut my kid's hair quickly but accurately (she has bangs which I'm pretty picky about getting right). Lots of toys while you wait. Cute cars as seats and videos to keep the kiddos amused and looking the correct direction for haircut. When my daughter was younger, they also let her sit on my lap in a chair so she wasn't scared. We always make our appointments online. Weekends have been busy so make an appointment. We have also attended braiding workshops at this location which have been super helpful. read more

Not COVID safe. Two of the three stylists had their masks hanging down under their noses for the entirety of our visits and made no effort to adjust them. The stylist cutting my sons hair told him he didn't have to wear a mask. we've gone here for years and it's been great, but it's not worth bringing sickness into the house because the employees aren't following the state mandates. And on top of that the haircut was all over the place in length. Won't be returning. read more

We have 4 little ones ages 6 and under and we love to come here. They're always busy so it's best if you can make an appointment, but they take walk-ins as well. Even for the little ones we're willing to wait an hour for haircuts. There is a lot for kids to do while they wait, and the stylists are very good at working with even the most reluctant customers. Bright. Clean. Fun. Very welcoming staff and establishment. They have cute cars for the little kiddos to sit in and "drive" while getting their hair cut. My 5 year old son can be pretty picky but Gina was very sweet and my son felt very comfortable and sat in the hair without any hesitation (usually it's a struggle). His hair looks great and he had a blast playing the video games and watching cartoons. There is a play area for kids to play while waiting or to entertain siblings that come. They offer a lot of hair products for kids and mom and dad can even get a haircut. I feel like the prices are more than an average place (great clips, etc), but the service and atmosphere is more than worth the $5 difference. One of those "if I could give a zero rating, I would" experiences. I've been here a few times with my daughter and it's never been stellar. I returned because my daughter likes the kid friendly atmosphere, and she needs to be entertained. The stylists always seem like they are in a bad mood and don't want to be bothered with another kid. This IS your job!! But this last visit was just that. The LAST. After my daughter almost being in tears from the horrible French braid...which they claim to be experts in and actually charge you for... I took it out the next day, brushed her hair, and found THIS was what I had paid for. (See photo.) And NO I did not ask for layers. I actually just took my hair scissors and fixed it myself because I'm sick to death of paying for services where I could have done better myself. read more

I would give no stars if possible. My two children had appointments at 11:20. We walked in at 11:26 and we're told we missed the 5 minute grace period and would have to reschedule. I said we drove 35 minutes to get there and all they said was "I'm sorry, it's our policy under our new management". Sounds like the new management needs a lesson in how children operate and getting them from the car to the store - here's a clue: you can't always predict when your 4 year old moves slowly because she wants to give you a sticker before getting out of the car. Anyway, not only did they loose $50 dollars today, they lost a customer forever! FYI, the 5 minute grace period rule was not listed anywhere on their website or in the appointment reminder email they sent. read more

I've been bringing my son here for the past year (3 years old now) and he always has a good experience. He has had Rae, Gina and Tracy as his stylist. They've all been calm and patient and his hair has been perfect each time. He enjoys spraying their water bottles onto a towel (or on them) and the kindness and tolerance is always appreciated. Keep grandma away from the scissors! My daughter's hair has been in her eyes for the past two weeks and via Skype it has been driving my mom crazy. So when she comes to visit she decided to trim her bangs a little bit, without me knowing. Before she could get any further I took her here to see Michelle. Michelle did a fantastic job of using her cowlicks and the way she likes to style her hair to create a beautiful hairstyle for my daughter. I was very happy with the time she took and the detail she put into her hair. My daughter sat perfectly still glued to watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and was very excited to pick out two purple ribbons to put in her hair with the sparkles. Normally I just cut my kids hair to save money as we are a one income family but I have to say I might have to find a way to make this a regular trip. read more

My toddler got a terrible haircut. It looks like a 6 year old cut her hair. Her bangs are crooked and half way down her forehead. My toddler sat still because she had a sucker. Meanwhile Aladdin played on the TV which if you haven't seen it for awhile you may not know that its not anything toddlers and preschoolers should watch. My toddler was afraid. The cuts are $25. This is a barbershop/salon for young kids. We've been taking our 5-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son there for about a year. They have all kinds of things to keep kids preoccupied: for kids in the chairs they have kid movies playing on one side of the shop and video games on the other side, and for waiting kids all kinds of toys and more movies. Kids get a lollipop and a small toy or treasure when they're done. Our kids hate to get haircuts, but they will sit quietly through it at this shop. Service is usually speedy, although we've seen them bogged down in the afternoons. We try to go first thing Sunday morning and hardly ever have to wait more than a few minutes. The stylists consult closely with the parents about the best cut for the kids. Our daughter has straight, very fine hair that wouldn't stay out of her face and won't hold a hair clip, but the stylists came up with a good cut to keep her face clear. The shop seems a little pricey, at just under $20 for a haircut, but they do good work, service is quick, and everyone is happy at the end. read more

Took my monster of a 16 month old here for his first hair cut in a shop. The place was really busy but Khai was occupied with all the toys and books while we were waiting. There's TV screens at every station to distract kids as they sit in different cars. We were so worried since he never sits still and would always freak out when getting his hair cut at home. The first couple minutes were a struggle but once he got comfortable with his stylist and the animal crackers came out, it was easy peasy. She did a quick and amazing job. We purchased the 1st Haircut Package which includes a card, lock of hair, a picture and a toy of his choice. He looks like a different child with his head neatly shaved and all cleaned up! Highly recommended, even for the biggest of monsters! read more

However once we walked in, she was so excited for the toys and movie playing she was a very well behaved one year old. Everything about our experience was great. We were able to book an appointment online but got there early and there was barely any wait (it was a weekday). There are three people working when we got there and all of them where really nice and seem to enjoy working there. They were all really sweet with my little guy and Jessica, who cut my little guy's hair, was really good with him and took her time and did a great haircut. Having the cars for the kids to sit in and toys is also a big hit. read more
