They have some of the best prepared foods you'll find at a grocery store in Birmingham. The daily deals are also fantastic. I especially love the $5-per-pound wings on Fridays and the $5 pizzas on Tuesdays--honestly, I love all of the $5 deals! They really come in handy when I'm trying to stick to a budget. The bakery is also amazing, especially the 3-for-$12 dessert deal. The staff is always kind, friendly, and ready to help. The store has always been clean every time I've visited, and it has a pleasant atmosphere that makes shopping enjoyable. Even though the store isn't very big, it's easy to spend much more time there than you planned because there are so many unique items that you don't find at other grocery stores.

I know they have made some changes since it first opened, but it did feel sort of less cluttered. I say that because while the aisles felt wider, the produce less crammed, and a back corner reconfigured, I still have never mastered the art of shopping Trader Joe's. The placement of items seems so random to me, and unituitive. Why are there peanut butter cups and harissa above frozen vegetables? Why are cookies over nearly everything frozen from dinner entrees to breakfasts? It can be a little frustrating for 'compartmental shoppers.' If you want fresh flowers, make sure you go early in the day for the best selection. And if you're going for flowers near the end of the week, be also forewarned that a number of church flower guilds use TJ to create and/or supplement their weekly arrangements because TJ gets some unique flowers in smaller bunches at decent prices.

Flower selection is always well-stocked, fresh, and beautiful. They have a good selection of meat, cheese, basic produce, and specialty frozen products. I have some gripes about the layout, but recognize that the model of TJ's is the 'thrill of the hunt.' I would complain, but I know they're doing it on purpose. It's fun. I went most recently on a Sunday morning. Do not recommend. I was dodging cute couples discussing Sunday supper while trying to get through quickly. I like to go at slower times so I have the room to lollygag and loaf about. My recommendations: soup dumplings, frozen mandarin chicken, strawberry licorice, and any other snack that strikes your fancy. I always pick up a couple bottles of the "two buck chuck." The Trader Joe's vineyard, Charles Shaw, is colloquially called "two buck chuck," but has gone up to $4 these days. Still, it's a good enough wine for me. I never go in expecting to find household items. I did not get to check aluminum foil off of my list. Alas, I must hunt some more. How thrilling!

The basic store layout and checkout process are efficient, making it ideal for quick trips or budget-conscious shopping. I like I can get in and out fast. Usually all the customers are nice and just getting their list done. Produce is usually good. I like their protein bread choices. Good selection of cheese but not many skim or low fat choices. I like their low fat cottage cheese, sour cream and Greek yogurt. They have low sodium chicken and beef broth. I bring my own grocery bags in and I don't get a cart. I will overload if I get a cart. This location has self checkout. Not all locations have self checkout. Then usually 1 lane that is staffed. There are not many employees working there so if you are looking for higher service levels you might want to go somewhere else. The staff are usually nice. I always check their app before I go. It's a smaller grocery store so they don't carry nearly as much as a Whole Foods, Publix, Walmart, etc. For the price, it's a dependable option that ticks most boxes. It's smaller than a regular Publix, but I think they have fantastic prepared foods. I came for $5 Sushi Wednesday (inflation hasn't taken this from us yet) and they still had a good selection out at 7pm. The only drawback here is how difficult the parking is at peak hours. You could find yourself circling the parking lot here. But, it is a convenient location, close to the gym for me. I'm just exploring Birmingham and see a charger right next to a Publix. B, double E, double, R U N! I walked into a damn rich person wonderland! It's such a beautiful market! I wish I lived here! This is the nicest Public I have ever seen. They have valet and white gloved people opening doors, pushing your cart for you, and comparing the groceries in real time. You get a team of personal shoppers as soon as you hit the parking lot! Who knew you needed a team of three personal shopping helpers in a Publix. Three personally assistants is the only way for me now! They have been hiding these places from you guys. I found it, so now I am in the club too. Why do you think this place doesn't have any reviews? Luminati till I die! That's why! The selection is amazing! Things you don't see anywhere else. The jewelry / caviar case is something to behold! Wild luxurious foods at every turn with Buffy and Tricia bouncing through with their tennis shirts. The life size butter fountain for blanching lobster is a site to behold! Seriously though. This place is unusual. They have more of a wine selection than I have ever seen. Bottles that you cannot get anywhere else that I know of. The wine guy is a local legend. To add to the level of priciness, the Tesla Supercharger is $.50 kWh. That is 30-40% higher than all of the other Supercharger's I have been too. Still in awe of this whole experience. You can get a beer or cocktail from the bar and shop while you drink. Then you can just walk out of the store with your open beer or cocktails and just drive away. One last thing. I saw a $600,000 Porsche pulling in while I was charging. The tag said "GRLFRND". Damn. She was like twenty-five at most. Damn. She has my dream car at twenty-five. Depressing. Just stay on your side of town, Birmingham. It's too bad you're not rich like these folk are. '26 - 89
