First off, the store itself is gorgeous inside out. The staff inside was extremely friend and accommodating of non-French speakers. They helped me pick out which macarons to go into my box and even offered for me to sample the confiture (fruit jam) they had on display. I got their 18 macaron box and it came out to be 51 euros in total (45 for the macarons themselves at 2.50 euros a pop and 6 euros for the box). The macarons are delicious. Not too sweet, with a supple and flavorful interior, and perfectly shaped shells. If you were only to get a couple, my recommendation would be the Mogador and Ispahan. These two are their some of their most well known flavors.

Now This is a Macaron Shop! Step in, and all you see is fancy French cookies. I feel so low grade calling them cookies!!! They're beautiful pieces of art! So many flavors! Very good taste! Very expensive! Annoyingly so. You must buy a canister if you want multiple macarons, the canisters are $3, $5, $8, and $12 euro's. Each macaron is $2.50. But they are pretty... both the tiny canister and The macarons. The pricing can absolutely be confusing, even out tour guide admitted. They overcharged one of us and had a heck of a time trying to figure out how much.. about $10 euros. Long story short, it's all about the experience and souvenirs. Somebody is gonna be happy.... right??

Had heard about their macarons and decided to give it a try. Must admit I was slightly disappointed with the flavors and texture. It was missing the intensity I have come to expect with macarons in paris. Not the best thing in town.

There is a reason why their vanilla bean macaron was voted #1 best macaron for years! Stellar flavor (I believe ganache filling) with the perfect crispy exterior, pillowy interior shell. All their flavors were light yet fragrant, and was the most delicate burst of taste with each bite. I sure wish I got to try their chocolate croissant and other pastries--I'm regretting not getting them while I was there! This is a must visit spot!

Best baked good I sampled in my week in France. The lighter style macron beats out Laduree in my humble opinion, and the flavors are refreshing and vibrant. One is around 2-3 euro depending on the flavor and I am not ashamed to admit I spent $100 on french cookies for my family- to eat that day. We went back one other time but sadly could not take any home since we were going to Spain next. I liked the Lychee/rose/raspberry combo as well as the jasmine and the rose.

Came here for a little snack with my husband! We ended up getting four macarons, a cheesecake, and a vanilla bean tart. My favorite macaron was the one with jasmine in it! It had a really good aroma and was really good. Their dessert aren't TOO sweet, which is perfect. The cheesecake was very light and creamy and their vanilla bean tart was my favorite. It was full of vanilla flavor but also wasn't that sweet. Definitely a great place to grab a little dessert or some pastries. There were a lot of other things I also wanted to try but didn't have the stomach to! The prices aren't too bad either.. nothing too different than high end pastries/cakes in the US.

Had to come back again on this trip. This time I ventured out and decided to try new flavors. I have to say I prefer the single flavors. Jardin des mousses: the basil flavor was overpowering. Montebello: the mix of framboise and pistache . I prefer the regular pistachio. Caramel, chocolat and noisette were all delicious. My fav is still the infiniment pistache. Hands down the best macaron place! 7 macaron= 16 euros= better savor every bite!

I cheated on Laduree while on this trip to Paris. Some friends had told me I should try PH and I'm glad I was able to try some of PH's wonderful macarons. The macarons are very colorful and well-made, seriously delicate shell with a flavorful center. What won me over are the savory flavors they incorporate--caviar, foie gras, balsamic vinegar-- it just makes these little sweets so much more decadent. My new favorite--Truffle and Hazelnut. So perfectly balanced. The gent behind the counter was perfectly friendly. Accepted my attempts at French and easily spoke in English when needed. Love PH!

Amazing croissants with raspberry, lychee, and rose! We did a good tour and this was the best food on the trip. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Also a large selection of macaroons, including an olive oil one. Everything to go. Definitely check this place out!

Yep, Pierre Herme's macarons are the best! After trying a bunch of different places, Pierre Herme macarons had the best flavors, beautiful colors and solid shape. Laduree is great, but Pierre Herme is better. Everything is super fresh. Go earlier in the day before they run out of things. I loved the black currant and jasmine flavor. The jasmine macaron was this beautiful opal color. Almost too beautiful to eat. Your choice of 7 macarons is 16 euros. This smaller location mainly had just macarons and chocolates. We walked past other Pierre Herme locations around town that were a lot bigger with cakes and even more pastries.

I've been looking forward to trying Pierre Herme's macarons ever since I've heard of his name and what he does. I've even bought his books even though I've never tried any of the pastries from his stores. Now that I'm in Paris, i MUST come. Walked in, welcomed by chocolate and macarons. So many choices. I wanted to try a few first before diving crazily into purchasing a dozen or more. I got 4 different flavors. Rose, Lychee Macaron Vanilla Olive Macaron Caramel Macaron Pamplemousse and something else Macaron Just 4 little ones costed almost 9 Euros, but it's okay, I was sure it will be worth it. Well, the moment came to finally tasting these babies and this was no fireworks moment. The shell on these macarons were soft. Filling seemed to all have the consistency of karosyrup. Terrible. Just terrible. I was so surprised and thought I didn't know my macarons and how they should taste like, I had to confirm it with my friend (we shared the macarons) that I wasn't imagining this. These were so terrible that I'm sure my very first batch of macarons would have been better than Pierre Herme's. I'm sure if Herme was here to taste what I had just tried, he would have been extremely disappointed how much the quality has gone down. I don't even think I should keep his recipe books anymore.

So many macarons, so little time. These macarons really melt in your mouth. It would be a shame to only go to Laduree as Pierre Hermé's macarons are superb! I ate 5 in one day and should have gone back the next day for more. The Rose and Pistache were perfect. However, my favorite was the Citron. It was hard not to eat the macarons I had bought for a friend who I was visiting in another city the next day! I was slightly intimidated when I walked in, but the staff helped me out and also corrected my pronunciation which I did appreciate.

Delicious fresh taste with a variety of choices. Our tour guide recommended this place and I am glad she did. I was very excited and pleased with the macaroons. The only thing I did not like was when I started my order the girl helping me automatically pulled one of the green boxes to gather my macaroons. She didn't not inform me that I had to pay for the box. It is important to let the customer know what they are in for. When she rang me up the total was 47 Euros. I like macaroons but I did not plan on spending that much. I could have bought a full cake for that price. When I told her I did not anticipate paying that much then I was informed about the box. I wish I was given an option. I tried to change the order but they did not know how to refund my card and redo the transaction. This was a stressful experience, the line was getting longer and they tried taking half the macaroons back and refunding me 2 Euros which was inaccurate. It took a lot away from the experience. Left much to be desired. They need to be clear about those little green boxes, I would rather pay for more macaroons not the green boxes that cost a lot of green.

This spot at the Carrousel du Louvre is a full service shop that gives out samples and allows you to build a box rather than just grab a premade assortment from a kiosk. I say this because we walked all over on our last day (wanting to make our own boxes) so we found out where the full-service shops were. The people who work here are very patient and kind while you make your selections. And of course, it's fun to sample the decadent merchandise. I highly recommend the Maracuja (dark chocolate w/ passionfruit pulp ) or the Salvador (dark chocolate ganache w/raspberry pulp). We made the mistake of turning our kids into chocaholics so we had to pay the price and bring them both home a box. Couldn't forget one for ourselves either. Each box comes with a handy picture guide so you can identify the merchandise. Or just pop one in your mouth and be happily surprised.

The BEST!!!!!! Oh…read moreman! I will start by saying that I don't even like macaroons in the United States. They are just dry and nasty most of the time lol But in Paris, I decided to give them a try! And I am glad I did. They tasted so good! Seriously, they were delightful little treats. The inside of the macaroons was moist and flavorful, while the outside had a nice firm texture. So good! I almost ate an entire dozen of those by myself! lol My fiancé was not super motivated to try one (probably because they suck in the US), and I kept telling him how good they are. Finally, he tried one and was shocked at how good it was too! They are not cheap. But worth it for a decent macaroon. I can't eat macaroons in the states now lol Ruined me for life. lol

This chocolate boutique was founded in the 80s by Patrice Chapon, once an ice cream purveyor for Buckingham Palace. Since then, he introduced his now-famed bar a mousse concept, allowing chocolate enthusiasts to sample made-in-house varieties of mousse sourced from cocoa beans across the world. I first visited a Chapon outpost on a quiet side street of Saint-Germain-des-Pres. You might miss the narrow storefront and brown awning on first glance, but melon-sized bowls of mousse in the window are unmistakable. The interior is warmly lit, featuring tastefully worn wood motifs. The backlit shelves to the right are curated with prepackaged confections, while the display to the left is decked with à la carte chocolates. We arrived for an early afternoon treat, and the friendly service patiently talked us through and offered samples of multiple mousse varieties. My favorite was the Equadorian, a dark, full-bodied flavor with some floral notes. I also enjoyed my sister's Madagascar, which had a thickness and richness reminiscent of caramel. My mother opted for the lighter, fluffier Peruvian, which was nearly the consistency of meringue. Lastly, the 100% dark Venezuelan had the thickest texture; however, the red wine-y flavor might turn some off. While the mousse is delicious, the prices might be harder to swallow; our 3 small portions ran over 20 euros. Nonetheless, I was impressed by the staff's ability to suggest an ideal mousse to suit each of our preferences. For a unique experience and a mousse that is sure to impress, don't miss out on Chapon.

Pierre Hermé If you…read moreknow Pierre Hermé from social media and all the viral videos, then this review needs no introduction. But if you haven't, this is a strong contender for worthy macarons in Paris and at a convenient location across the street from Ladurée. Located inside L'Occitane in the most gorgeous floor space ever, you will find Pierre Hermé at the center of it all. They have an impressive array of flavors that were much more unique than other patisseries. I definitely asked for a few recommendations as well since I tend to order the same thing (pistachio, raspberry, lemon, etc.) The workers were very kind. They indulged my request to converse in French and corrected me in a respectful and endearing way (I know some people get upset at this idea but I personally prefer it.) I had ordered a dozen macarons but truthfully would've ordered the entire lot if I wasn't alone and especially if I wasn't already taking a ton of sweets back for my flight home. I am a Ladurée purist and what I can say is that Pierre Hermé definitely had the best and most unique flavors compared to the two. The prices are fairly comparable and the coffrets are just as tasteful. Both are strong contenders and worthy of your money. I certainly will be returning and look forward to trying the rest of their selection. (15/50--2025)

Pierre Hermé is home to some of the best macarons I've had in my life -- which is probably too many for the good of my health -- and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the macarons, the staff's attention to detail, and all the unique flavors this shop had to offer. As a popular macaron shop in one of the hottest tourist destinations in Paris, this location is undeniably crowded. There's usually a huge line circling around a central display of macaron after macaron. The line looks pretty intimidating, but it moves quite quickly, and there are so many flavors that it'll probably be helpful to have a bit of extra time to review the menu. My friend and I split a pack of four macarons, including their seasonal isapahan (rose, lychee, raspberry), infiniment praliné pistache, and a jardin de cassandre (red currant, rhubarb). The macarons were delightful. I loved the two seasonal items; they were delightfully fruity and slightly floral, and I loved the slightly tangy flavor from the raspberry in the isapahan and rhubarb / currants in the jardin de cassandre. The praliné pistache was nice and nutty, and the inner cream offered a great additional richness. It's usually super crowded so seating tends to be quite limited. My friend and I ended up taking our macarons to go and enjoyed them elsewhere as we toured Champs Elysée.
