BEWARE OF PIERCE TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER - TRYON!!! TECHNICIAN NAMED NICKEY!! PLEASE READ FOR YOUR SAFETY!!! I picked up my u-haul equipment on January 18, 2025 at 8:30 AM. This is my second time renting a U-Haul from this location. I've usually don't like going there because it's so dirty and the door doesn't have a handle. After picking up my truck I drove it about 15 miles to my old address. I was moving to Greenville South Carolina so that's about 55 miles + away from Asheville. After getting my truck loaded, I started to head to South Carolina and the truck started to stall, and then it broke down on the side of the highway. After speaking to roadside assistance, they sent PIERCE TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER-TRYON (I CALLED BACK THE NUMBER AND HE TRIED TO PRETEND HE DIDN'T REMEMBER ME! I MADE UP A FAKE NAME AND HE AGREED THAT IT WAS HIS NAME! COMPLETELY DISHONEST AND DISGUSTING) HIS NAME IS NICKEY! he told me all I needed was fuel. I went to the gas station and filled the U-Haul with a full tank. I became hesitant after my first experience and didn't understand how that could happen because the U-Haul was at a quarter tank, I pleaded with him and ask him are you sure the U-Haul's OK to drive I'm going all the way to South Carolina and he told me "it should be". I Started driving about 10 miles and this time the U-Haul started to vibrate, stalled out on me and almost left me in the middle of traffic so then I was stranded again on the side of the road. I tried to get off at the next exit which was exit 53 but the vehicle jolted and terrified me. I ended up having to drive on the side of the shoulder just in case the truck shut off on me. After that experience and barely making it to the Cracker Barrel parking lot, I was not going to drive that car again because I knew in my gut and from my short experience in the vehicle that it was NOT SAFE. I sat in that parking lot for over four hours because they would not send someone to tow the car because That service technician NICKEY from PIERCE TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER-TYRON kept telling them that the vehicle was safe to drive after recently putting my life at risk. After the third hour, they sent a second technician and within five minutes there were three codes that came up on the vehicle and he told me I wouldn't of made it 5 miles(I have picture and video evidence). This location put me in a truck that put my life at risk and if I didn't have enough sense to stand up for myself and not drive the vehicle again I know I definitely wouldn't made it to South Carolina, but I also don't know if I would still be alive today. This was complete negligence on U-Haul part but specifically this location. It's clear whoever was supposed to inspect the vehicle to make sure they were in safe driving conditions drop the ball and did not do their job! What I went through that day nobody deserves to go through. I'm still traumatized from sitting on the side of the highway by myself and having my family calling me worried about me and my safety. Everyone is to blame in this situation and I'm still waiting for U-Haul to make it right specifically this location at 3161 sweeten creek rd. I have already submitted all my documents for reimbursement through roadside assistance customer Service as I was directed to and I still haven't received a call. I am completely disgusted. I will never rent a U-Haul from this location again, but I don't think I would ever rent a U-Haul again in my life after what I experienced. The toll that this took on my body and my mind was completely unfair to me. PIERCE TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER - TRYON YOU DIDN'T INITIALLY PUT ME IN THE U-HAUL BUT YOU CONTRIBUTED TOWARDS PUTTING MY LIFE AT RISK BECAUSE OF YOUR LAZY INCOMPETENT WORKER NICKEY THAT COULD'NT BE BOTHERED TO DO HIS JOB CORRECTLY. I CALLED FROM TWO DIFFERENT NUMBERS HE ANSWERED BOTH TIMES AND I RECOGNIZED HIS VOICE SO I HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS COWARD MAY BE THE OWNER! THEY SENT SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNEW HOW TO DO THEIR JOB! Don't waste your time like they wasted mine. The person that worked the front desk was particularly unhelpful, and clearly has no mechanical knowledge, which made it virtually impossible understand what was going on or what my options were. So, I ended up taking it elsewhere. read more

Sitting in the waiting room currently for them to do a tire check for a slow tire leak and they only charge 21 bucks to do a repair from what I was told at check in. The staff was really nice and they've been very busy the whole time I've been here. Even with the people they are being really polite and communicating well as a team. The leak ended up being on the valve stem which I hadn't been able to find. They got me good and back on the road in under an hour! read more

My car became stuck in shallow but very slick mud on a slope one foot above a deep ditch. I called five tow services, but no one would come because of fear of getting stuck themselves. I called Pierce's and they were there in one hour and had me out in 10 minutes. read more

I have been doing business with Pierce for several years, primarily because it is locally owned. My wife and I own several cars and have purchased our new tires exclusively from them. This week I discovered that the lugs on my daily driver wheels were severely over-torqued. I could not loosen them, even with a breaker bar. Broke a socket trying. Factory spec is 85 pounds and they were off the scale on my torque wrench. But everybody makes mistakes, right? So I took it in this morning and explained the problem. Fixed pretty quickly with their commercial duty impact wrench. So why am I not happy? I was charged a "minimum fee" of $22.00 to fix their mistake!! I will hot be back. read more

My girlfriend blew a tire while I was 45 minutes away at work. She was late for work, nervous, and had no cell service. Pierce tire saw her and pulled over to help her change it no cost. They were then able to order her new one for us and we just needed to show up the next day and we were set to hit the road again. Been going to Pierce Tires for a few years now for all our car needs. Today will be the last day we take our cars there. For the past few years they have passed our car for its yearly inspection. Today they said they could not pass our car due to the window tinting. The cars window tint hasn't changed since we bought the automobile. Apparently it was fine the last few years we brought it to Pierce but this year the tint doesn't pass? I get it....if it doesn't pass then it doesn't pass, but tell me that the first time I brought it to you years ago. Just don't pass it every year then decide today you can't pass it. The young lady who checked it was just doing her job, but the inconsistency in the way the business operates is frustrating. It's a shame but I will bring my business and money elsewhere to another outfit after this experience. read more

I've done a good bit of business with Pierce Tire over the past 6 years. The other review about the grumpy woman at the front end is spot on. She has since been replaced by a well-intentioned, but quite dim-witted, young woman who rises to the level of clueless on a good day. The owner, Mickey, is friendly and knowledgeable. That, combined with fair prices and proximity to my home, is why I keep going back. But if they ever get competition in this market with customer friendly staff I'm out of there. read more

The woman at the front desk, in addition to be incapable of speaking in complete sentences, was rude and irritable and her treatment of her customer, me, was deplorable.
