My wife and I visited Pier 49 Pizza on February 14 for Valentine's Day. The restaurant was very slow -- just one family finishing up and one other couple who had ordered -- so we expected a smooth and pleasant experience. We ordered the large pizza and breadsticks special for $19.99 and asked the manager how big the salad was to see if one would be enough for both of us. He told us it would only feed one person, so we ordered two. Our bill came out to $40 -- nearly $20 just for salads, which felt excessive. The menu listed the salad as having lettuce, cheese, olives, and mushrooms. We specifically asked for no mushrooms. When the salads arrived, there were no mushrooms -- but there were onions, which were not listed on the menu. We let the server know we didn't want onions, and she politely said she would take care of it. The manager then came over and began arguing with us, insisting we hadn't asked for no onions -- even though onions weren't listed as an ingredient in the first place. The manager was very unprofessional and rude in how he handled the situation. Instead of simply correcting the mistake, he chose to argue with us. He eventually remade the salad, which ended up being large enough to feed two people -- meaning we never needed to order two salads in the first place. When we asked for extra ranch because the small amount provided wasn't enough for both the pizza and salads, the manager said we would be charged for it. Being charged for extra condiments after everything else felt unreasonable. The food itself was fine, but the customer service -- especially from the manager -- was disappointing. I placed an order through DoorDash... And they've already refunded me for the issue. However, I did want to call and follow up with the store and let them know what happened or at least get their perspective on things since DoorDash is saying that it wasn't their fault that my order was wrong... I ordered a cheese pizza as the base with toppings. What I received was a half cheese plain pizza and then half of my pizza with the toppings I requested. That's not what I paid for. I called and asked to speak to a manager, however, was told there was no one there, except the person who made my order. I tried to explain to him what happened and he became belligerent and would not let me get in word in edgewise. He took it from a minor "hey heads up you got it wrong" to a near shouting match on the phone. I had to point blank Tell him he was talking over me and not listening to what I had to say. I've got my DoorDash order in front of me. I've got the receipt in front of me and I've got a photo of the actual food, Which I'm posting here. If Roberto hadn't been so absolutely rude on the phone there wouldn't be a review tonight. This would've been maybe a two minute call and it would've been over with. I had my money back. However his attitude and having escalated it for no reason because he couldn't emotionally deal with someone calling in to give him a heads up on an issue? Came in from out of town. Ordered pick up. Arrived 30 minutes later to find our order had not even been started. Had to wait another 30 minutes as we were not the only people who called in and then had to wait for their order to be started. The pizza was nothing special. It tasted like what you get at a convenience store. Definitely not worth the price or the wait. read more

We stopped by Pier 49 at about 4pm. There was absolutely no other customers in the restaurant. Some of the tables were still dirty and the booth seats needed some stuffing - it felt like there were giant gaps in stuffing. The food itself was good. They are decently sized pizzas. read more

We ordered pizzas for our office today for a 12:00 delivery. They showed up at 1:13. We had to call to see that was up. A nice little call to say we are running over an hour late or when we called be honest and say we forgot about your order we will get it in right now. The pizza was decent tasting but anyone makes a decent pizza. You gotta set yourself apart. read more

So insanely over priced for the smallest pizzas.. be prepared to wait an hour for one to actually get your food. Don't waste your money and just get some Little Caesars. They absolutely need to lower the prices. read more

I placed an order with Pier 49 Murray via Slice Life (online ordering partner) for about a 7:30 PM pickup, and I requested some alterations to the pizza, namely swapping sauce bases, due to my sensitive system not handling tomato-based sauces well after 6:00 PM. When I got home, I found that the order was not correct, and they used the tomato sauce, despite the system charging me extra for the sauce substitution. I called up the location, and I was given to the manager to talk about the issue. I was told "sorry, but you did not say in the comments 'no tomato sauce', so we don't see things, so it is best to call in an order instead of ordering online." This left me unable to eat with my family, and extremely disappointed in the level of service. Their website reads: Your Satisfaction is Guaranteed! At Pier 49 Pizza, we have only one goal - to help you Fall in Love with Pizza Again! We do it by offering more Specialty Pizzas, more Specialty Sauces, a wider variety of ingredients, and by hiring the best people we can find. We guarantee your experience will be a great one. In fact if you don't absolutely love your meal, or if your experience with Pier 49 is anything less than satisfactory, we promise to make it right, whatever it takes. The staff did nothing to work with me to come up with some way to make this right. I am not satisfied, and if I could leave a "0 star" review, I would. This has given no reason to use this pizza place again. Nice ambience. Pizza was ok, the crust did not taste like what I would call or think of as San Francisco sourdough pizza. Maybe it's because I'm from the bay and have higher standards for my carbs lol Service was absolutely terrible. I can deal with subpar pizza if the employees were nice. He was just generally upset and seemed inconvenienced by our presences. Asking for ranch was like asking a Mickey Ds employee for another sacred sauce cup or ketchup packet. It is a little pricey but the dinner for 2 was $19 and that's not too bad all things considered. First time, but definitely not the last time we'll order from Pier 49. We ordered the 'Something for Everyone' pizza, and it was great. The crust was soft with a crunchy shell that was just right, done, but not over baked and hard. The toppings were all exactly as described on their website. Best of all was the service! Our pizza was delivered 10 minutes before the stated time, and they included plates and napkins, which was definitely an unexpected plus as we are staying in a hotel for the night. I'm updating a review that was made last year, we didn't come back since we had a very bad customer service, but today under the circumstances we decided to have dinner there, customer service experience was awesome, the guy who took care of our order also made great recommendations, I was so pleased with the interaction. Just in town visiting and thought I would try this pizza place since it was close to my hotel. I ordered the Nob Hill Pizza and a order of Cheese Bread. Both came out really tasty! Customer service was fine, no complaints there. The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful and nice. The environment in the restaurant seems a little dated, but I think it adds to the effect of it feeling like a mom n pop type restaurant. Would recommend anyone to try this place! read more

They screwed up our order--didn't even start it despite confirming that it was ready--and then refused to do anything to help solve the problem. We went for dinner tonight we were concerned because it was 6 in the evening and this place was empty. We ordered a medium Nob Hill pizza. They make them on a sourdough crust. It was pretty good on a scale of 1-10 maybe a 7. Somewhat pricy($16.99) in my opinion. I would recommend trying at least once, but I doubt we'll be back. We're just visiting the area. read more

Service was awful. We ordered our food for dine in and we're the only customers in there sat down and waited for our food. The girl working and who took our order just sat behind the counter on her phone. After a while another couple came in and ordered food and sat down within 10 minutes they were brought their food. So after about 40 minutes we ask the girl who took our order what the status was on our food and she asked what we ordered, after telling her she turns around and grabs our food that was boxed up sitting for who knows how long, then ask for ranch and she throws it across the counter. No apology or anything. It's unfortunate because the food is good(when it's not sitting in a box for no reason) but the customer service is severely lacking. read more

I love this place! I've been coming here for awhile now everyone is always super friendly! It's a very clean and relaxed place to eat. They make sure to get your food out asap which is great, plus you can see it's fresh out of the oven. I have been here a few times now. Its close to home & convenient. I call ahead for pick-up & its no muss no fuss. I absolutely am addicted to the "garlic festival" pizza and I have them add shrimp! This review was for sometime in late 2011 Worst service ever! I was on a lunch break and as lunch breaks are I decided to grab a quick meal to go. There was no one in line and it didn't seem like the guy working was doing anything but taking down a quick order, so I patiently waited. 1. The guy behind the counter didn't acknowledge me for almost 15 minutes! Even when I politely tried to get his attention, he was still on the phone! (it turns out it was a personal call for classified ad!) after he finally took our order, we waited another 15 minutes ( again, on a 30 lunch break at work) to finally receive our food. The person helping me clearly did not care about anything. I know, I'm venting, but I mean come on! As someone who used to work in the food industry, that is by far the worst experience ever. Hopefully by now this has been taken care of. Food wise, didn't complain, but wouldn't be surprised if out of his carelessness to the world, if there might had been something in my food that wasn't on the menu. Really the pizza was fine. It's hard to mess up pizza. My lowish rating has to do with price. The pizza we got would have been $22. Luckily we got it for half off because of a coupon bought through city deals. Still, we could have gone accross the street to Costco and gotten a slightly larger pizza--same quality for $1 less. read more

Updating my review as I came back yesterday for their lunch special. I had a slice of the Tourist pizza and a salad and drink. Pizza slice was good and the salad (lettuce,tomato, cheese, olives) was fresh. They still have customer service issues. First, the kid who took my order yawned quite loudly and didn't even cover his mouth. Dude, get to bed early so you're not so tired! The other workers walked around like zombies and didn't smile. Second, not one of the little parmesan cheese glass shakers were full. I'm serious. I even looked at the tables and couldn't find a single one with cheese. And third, the tables were dirty... people left and no one came to clean up. Not good during the lunch hour. My rating improved but not by much. They still have some work to do. read more
