I was surprised that this place didn't get a higher overall rating, but then I read the reviews and learned that some people don't like dining with children. (Surely they don't mean *my* children!) Aside from 2 Amys in D.C., I would be hard pressed to recommend better pizza in the area. Good sausage subs and salads too. Good brownie sundaes. It's great to be able to eat grown-up food without hiring a sitter. Finally, I should mention the rainy night when my wife and I were both hungry and cranky and we called in a take-out order about 15 minutes before closing. This is one of our favorite restaurants! Once the kids have cleared out (later in the evening), the atmosphere is relaxing and warming with the enticing aromas, pendant lights, and fire in the stove. Wait staff is attentive, friendly, and helpful, but not intrusive. The food is delicious. Many items on the menu are standouts, including the Primavera and Mediterranean pizzas. I have been meaning to review this place and now I have the chance. Be aware that it is a very family friendly restaurant, if trying to avoid all the kids (it does get a little crazy) try going around 7:50 or later. We had the fried mozzarella and it was really really good. I had the spaghetti and meatballs as an entree which had a great sauce and the meatballs were really good. Pizza was also really flavorful and delicious. The service was also very friendly and attentive. It is not one of those "trying to hard to be Italian places" but still has good decor and a nice atmosphere. It's a big staple in the average arlington family diet. This is our solid go-to spot for local pizza. I actually prefer the crust and sauce to Pupatella (theirs seems flavorless), but maybe that's just me! The four cheese is my favorite and a healthier runner-up would be the pear and arugula. The veggie lasagna is another favorite, but not as much as the pizza. Beware, there are usually a lot of children here, so if you're looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, then this is probably not the spot, but it's good for those nights when you want something in between delivery and a nicer sit down place. Their bolognese is not bolognese. It's a watery spagehtti sauce and not a really good one at that. Service was good and it's fun to watch the pizzas get made in the oven, but overall very average (below average) with OK food. read more

They offer one of the best gluten-free pizzas I've ever had - I also enjoy Upper Crust - but in general it's hard to find a gluten-free pizza this good. Unfortunately I also ordered a salad and informed two different people of my gluten allergy - it still came with bread on top. Further I requested the salad without peppers and not only did it come with peppers but the entire salad tasted like a pepper. It happens but don't particularly recommend the grilled chicken either. Love this place but would advise that some of the staff learn more about legitimate food allergies because the individual on the phone really did not seem to understand how sick someone can actually get from eating the wrong thing. Where to start? We have been trying to order food from various places during this quarantine to support restaurants and give ourselves a break from prepping and cooking...so much cooking! Often we fall into the rut of rotating through the same few places. I noticed someone sharing that Pie-Tanzania was coming out our way with deliveries once a week and we decided to give it a go. Everything on the menu looked fabulous, but we were planning a later dinner and I wanted something that worked best for that. I ended up ordering the take and bake pizza kit (3 pizzas!) with 2 toppings. It came boxed neatly and efficiently with clear instructions and we couldn't wait to get to it. Let me tell you - OMG - it was amazing!! We actually made 4 pizzas from it (thank you extra ball of dough!) and none was better than the other. The crust, the sauce, the flavor of our toppings - mushroom and sausage - were just delicious! My husband was stopping after every bite to tell me how good it was...in case I didn't know??!? We can't wait to order again, and now I'm torn between ordering more of this or trying something new! You WILL NOT be disappointed by choosing Pie-tanza! Oh, and I also ordered two sangrias to go and that made the great pizza experience perfect - yummy! This place is fantastic! It is kid friendly but it is also a good place to go kid-less. The portions are huge and not overpriced. I often will split something with my mom or a friend or order my own and have enough left over for another meal. The kids portions are decently priced and the portions are big for them too. The last time we went my 3 yo spilled a cup of water and they were very sweet about helping get to it right away and even though I felt awful they did not seem annoyed at all which was nice because accidents do happen. Our favorite local Italian restaurant. We eat here about once or twice a month. Food is consistently good. My wife has several salads she loves there (e.g., Chicken and Walnut) and I enjoy the soups, pizza and sandwiches. I have found the pasta dishes just average. Probably the best part is the servers who are always friendly, polite and attentive. This has always been the go to place for my family, but lately, it has gone downhill. Maybe its me, but I have noticed that as restaurants the quality goes straight down the toilet. I ordered the calzone with meatballs and my other half ordered the cheesy chicken (cant remember the name) and the waitress brought me one side of marinara that barely covered any of it. Great for kids but pizza tends to be soggy, salads are tasteless with grocery store dressings and when staff makes mistakes mgmt doesnt provide customer svc to do "the right thing" just sorry we were wrong and customer has to accept it. The "go to" neighborhood restaurant in the Arlington area if you have small children. Very kid-friendly, reasonably priced, with delicious wood-oven pizza. Staff are very friendly (often offer kids with little balls of pizza dough to provide much-needed distraction). Only negatives are small seating capacity and limited parking - this area is growing and the secret is out about this place. That said, they offer takeout, which we use often. We've quit going there because the place is always full of noisy, ill-behaved, screaming children, and the management refuses to provide an area where adults can sit and enjoy a quiet meal. I don't think this indicates good management, because when the tables are filled up with a lot of children eating at substantial discounts, the money is bound to be less than if they encouraged paying customers. One of the best in this area but again there aren't any real pizza places around Arlington. The oven needs cleaning most of the time since you could get a real burnt like taste on the pizza crust. Went here a while ago because Cafe Asia was busy. WOW! It was really good and a nice sit down place. The favorite pizza places in the area are Italian Store or Ledo's Pizza. But when I am in the mood for a sit down or date night, this is a wonderful place to do so. The wine list is great and when I asked which wine would go well with the pizza I wanted to order, my waiter was wonderful about telling me what he suggested. A girlfriend and I chose this place, well she did and I tagged along, for dinner Sunday night. It was pretty full, but the service was still competent. I enjoyed my tomato pizza. Forgive me for not remembering the name, but it was tomato sauce, mozzarella, sliced tomatoes and sundried tomatoes. I thought it was very good. The size was reasonable and since I didn't get a salad I was able to eat almost the entire thing. My friend got a salad with chicken on it and enjoyed hers. Her salad was so big she wasn't able to finish it, but I think she pretty much ate all the goodies off the top. The only problem was the dessert. My friend had been there before and ordered and was given the child's serving of an ice cream sundae. We were told they were not allowed to do that and that we would have to have two scoops and pay twice as much. The adult Sundae was not on the dessert menu at all and the manager was not able to explain why they would not allow us to have the smaller sundae to our satisfaction. I personally am okay with adults not being able to eat from the children's menu, but I think it is fair to say that policy should be printed on the menu and be upheld consistently. We ended up not having dessert which was fine with me anyway. I had eaten so much pizza I really didn't need it and I didn't really have room for it either. read more

So I came here last night with my dad to grab something quick and tasty to eat. We were kinda disappointed in the past we used to come here and the food was great. We ordered a plain cheese, pepperoni and white pizza with fontina--we were really hungry! All of the pizzas were burnt on the bottom which left a bitter taste. The crust was thin which is something I like. The white pizza with fontina was horrible it had way too much oregano or something on it and it tasted really bitter. I also ordered the tomato bread soup as something to eat before the pizza came out and it tasted like i was eating chunky tomato sauce like straight from a jar or something. Also the timing was off because I waited forever for my soup and then two seconds later our pizzas came out. I also noticed that the place was not as crowded as it used to be but there were still a lot of children there but its a pizza place that is to be expected. Overall, I gave it three stars because in the past the pizzas were really good, maybe they just left them in the oven for too long. I'd ordered vege toppings only, got it home, and found that what appeared to be onions was, in fact, ham... As I'm a strict vegetarian, I'm not able to comment on the "wholesome goodness" of their fresh toppings... The "pizza" (which actually massed less than the box it came in) went into the trash can... I don't believe they are really putting prosciutto on their pizzas - just some phony substitute. What a complete con.
