Although I had to throw away those shoes , that jerk chicken platter was worth it. Baby! This is hands down the best in Philly. Every bite taste like I was back in Jamaica. The curry chicken was sold out (a good sign), so now I have the perfect excuse to come back. The owner was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Which was a bit contradicting if you know the rude customer service / good food theory. but anyways ... The ambiance is giving Jamaican Jerk Hut - definitely authentic taste and vibes. call ahead and time your pickup just right. Those PPA drivers definitely have a system in that grocery store lot. Stay alert, grab your food, and thank me later.

It was still when we he got home with my BBQ Salmon with rice and beans, greens and candied yams. Everything individually has flavor. The rice is cooked just rice; not mushy or crunchy. Great portion size of salmon and not drowning in sauce. The greens seasoned and not spicy. I have had greens from other restaurants where they make the greens spicy. It was a pleasant surprise not to have a "kick" to my greens. The candied yams were nice and soft and now drowning in syrup. Just the way I like it. I look forward to trying something else on the menu.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!…read more Ice cream is one of those enigmatic desserts that I've eaten over 51 varieties of, had as mochi, ordered from out of store and bicycles, and even had with random ingredients like sriracha and bacon. But despite this there was just something about the prospect of having it deep fried and without the end result being a messy puddle that was kind of off putting. But even so there was just something about ordering from that custom surfboard menu and looking at their smiling logo with a cherry on top that made it hard to pass up. Especially when I read about their Astro-S'more: a variation of the campfire classic that deep fried vanilla ice cream in a brownie with graham cracker crust, and topped it off with fudge sauce and toasted marshmallows! The above result was as amazing as it sounds, but I think the even better result might have happened on my 2nd visit during the Newbold Blues Festival when I savored a fried green tea ice cream sundae with corn flakes, lavender cake, honey, and green tea pocky! Looking at the menu further reveals even more inspired sundaes like one that pays homage to your favorite breakfast cereals of yester youth, and another inspired by warm apple pie. They even have ICE CREAM PIEROGIES! Moon Dawg Sundaes being a mobile operation only means that you'll only find them at festivals and popping up at some of your favorite breweries. But when you see them, you'd best stop and enjoy some of Philly's best new dessert!

They also added two green tea pocky sticks. It was really delicious, the ice cream was creamy and the fried part was super well done. All of the flavors came together harmoniously and nicely. A very cute street food to get indeed. The one thing I think that has to be said is that it's definitely a littleee pricey for the portion size ($8 total for this lil eggroll-sized guy, I split mine with my partner and ate my half in an entire bite). I'd be really curious to try the other flavors for sure, but I just don't know if I'd want to dish out $8 each time for something I can eat in seconds. I do really love the taste and concept of this super creative fried ice cream that goes beyond just your standard carnival fried ice cream and would recommend you get it at least once.
