Phenomenal. I really don't know how I could give them any other rating than 5 stars. The family that owns PS is from the UK and my brother has been a regular customer for quite a bit now. This makes for a great recipe in my eyes since I really do miss almost everything about living in the UK and of course, I do trust my brother's taste in food. One thing to keep in mind is that translation of a recipe from one country to the next can be a bit different since you're talking about different sources (water, veggies, meats, etc) and it always surprises me when I hear or read digs on a particular place just because it's not exactly what one may remember from another place. Nothing may literally translate the 'authenticity' someone is looking for 100%. So I take it for what it is. And what it is - is great! On my first visit here, I tried the steak & mushroom as suggested. The crust was crispy and flaky while the steak was tender and juicy. And the mushrooms were a great way to round out the savory (yes ultra delicious) pie! It was also piping hot but gave me an opportunity to really sit down and enjoy every bite as it cooled down. I can imagine this particular one being eaten on a cold, winter day. Perfect! On my following visits, I ordered: chicken curry, apple pie, cottage pie, & a bakewell tart. Yeah, with all that food, I had two things going for me to keep the calories off: my parents' pool & the gym on Hunter Army Airfield. :P Anyhoo, the chicken curry definitely leans on Indian curry. Not spicy but the core of the curry flavor is deeply embedded within the filling (the cumin, turmeric - very well prepared). The pie is even topped with curry so you get that little bite when eating this little guy. The apple pie. Now this had to have been a favorite of mine because unlike the American counterpart served at many a US diner, it was dense; however, light at the same time. What I mean by that is instead of using a heavy karo syrup to bind the ingredients, I detected what I believe to be some sort of apple sauce in it. I thoroughly enjoyed their take on it! It wasn't overly sweet but sweet enough and then topped with a bit of sugar as well. I brought a large one home and I ALMOST brought it back intact but that lest leg of my trip was not so gravity friendly. So unfortunately, it came back in a blob. Did it stop me and my family from eating it though? Nope! I had it cold and warm and both ways were awesome. The bakewell was a special they had. The fondant was a bit too much for me though (way too sweet) and I found myself peeling it away to go for the cherry and the filling underneath. The cottage pie was a naughty little beef and gravy topped with mashed potato that was a lush even if I do say so myself! Now about the employees - they were so sweet. I had quite a few questions for them - especially on mailing options and taking some with me on the plane. And everyone came in to pitch ideas of which I was very grateful for. The folks here are friendly and I did hear them take their time with other customers too. The place is neat and well-taken care of - they even sell a lot of British goodies with the Royal Warrant tacked on the back of them as well. They even sold tees and coffee mugs (yes, I bought some for the fam - I'm a sucker like that). They also offer discounts for Gulfstream employees. That was a great tidbit to find out - they gave it to me since my dad works there. :) What else can I say? I hope that gives you a little insight into what to expect and I do hope you enjoy them. This was hands down the most delicious pastry place I've ever been too. We stopped in to have a butter beer at the little crown bar that's in the front of the restaurant and saw the pastries in a display case. We came back the next day to try them and were not disappointed! We almost went back the following day too but decided they were too flaky for the car ride to the airport. We got married in 2018 and Linda made our wedding cake. The whole Pie Society team was so sweet, and we had we had a special tasting in the restaurant. Linda can make any flavor imaginable. We went with a traditional flavor for the main cake, but Linda also made mini cupcakes in fun flavors for our guests! Not sure if this is something she still offers or is interested in doing, but wanted to give her credit and a great review! Ordered the steak and mushroom pie. Even though the crust was flaky and delicious, the innards of the Pie were bland in flavor, mostly salty. The apple berry pie confused my flavor buds. Not the taste I was searching for. Something about the flavor reminded me of a dessert you would buy from a store vs a bakery. This was a hidden gem I didn't think I'd find. They are not what you think. It is a british pie place which means savory pies, pasties, and tarts. They do have some sweet pies and scones and cookies but it's their meat pies which are the bomb!!! They have a wide selection of teas and they even do fish and chips for lunch/dinner menu items. They are nice and quaint and have two locations I know of, one in Pooler and the other in downtown Savannah. A great place to stop and enjoy a tea and a pie. read more

This is a nice little small shop. We came in during our first week in Savannah for a light lunch and was not dissatisfied by any means! The couple who owns it was very welcoming and cheerful. Too my surprise they even had beer! We tried four pies, the philly, steak, curry, and another steak pie. Too me the steak ones were similar to a beef stew so if you enjoy that you will love these! The only thing I didn't enjoy is the pork pie. It's just a delicious and flaky crust with a thick sausage patty inside. I don't know if that's the way they make theirs or if someone took a shortcut. Either way it's not the traditional pork pie with a smooth texture and congealed inside. It was nothing but ground breakfast sausage like you can get out the store. I was hoping for the real deal with this item. I don't recommend you order this item as it's not an authentic British pork pie. read more

It's cool place to bring a friend for their first time in Pooler. I've bought a couple pies from here last year, but it isn't really a place I visit often as a local. Honestly, everything here is either too bread-y or too sweet. I came in a few times to try several desserts and was blown away by the chocolate silk pie. It's rich, creamy, and tastes like a chocolate candy bar with crust. Of course, you have to keep in mind that they're typically ~70% butter and the rest is just sugar and cocoa. The Victoria Sponge cake was alright, and not over the top sweet. It was also a bit dry, probably from sitting out all Sunday uncovered. I would have loved to have a bit more berry flavor. The key lime pie had the perfect level of sourness, but it was way, way, too sweet. Likewise, the Bakewell tart (looks a lot like the Victoria Sponge) had icing that was inedible from the amount of sugar loaded into it. However, the tart itself actually could have used more sugar, and more flavor to make up for the very thin layer of berry. I also wasn't a fan of the peanut butter cookie at all, mostly because it was made to be crumbly instead of chewy. A bakery won't have everything on the menu every day, so it's a bit of a guess as to what's available when you get there. When I went with a friend on 2:00p on a Sunday, they were out of the cottage pie and beef and blue cheese pasty. So I tried the fish and chips with curry sauce. I really can't comment on the authenticity, but fried fish is a surprisingly good match with Indian curry. At the same time, the fish felt like it was missing something. More salt or seasoning perhaps? Really, I was surprised by how good the chips (french fries) were. The unassuming fries didn't have much grease, but were surprisingly flavorful. All in all, the half portion of fish with tax came to $13. Although I'm glad I got to try English-style fish and chips for the first time, it's not something I need to have again. The food is a bit pricey, and not all that great to me. The chocolate cream pie alone would make it a good 'once in a blue moon' treat. I travel up to this area every couple of months. We came across this place about a year ago and always go back. I always bring home Steak n Ale pies, Shepherds pie, pork n apple hand pies and the Apple Berry pie! Such flakey crusts! I usually will have a warm steak and blue cheese pasty or pocket sandwich and a sausage wrapped in their fabulous dough for lunch. The shortbread cookies are also amazing! Then we hit the chocolates! Cadbury in the USA is not good. You have to get the kind made in the UK to really get that milky goodness.Usually have to get a Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit n Nut bar, Caramel bars and Flake and Ripples! You will not be disappointed! The owners are super nice as well. They also do afternoon tea if you want to have a tea party with finger sandwiches etc. I have never done it but I saw some people having a tea party when I was there last. Super fun! read more

This is a tough place to rate because there's no other place serving food like this in the Savannah area. On one hand, for what it is, it's a five-star eatery. They specialize in British style pies, quiches and similar dishes. But specialization offers drawbacks as well as benefits. The food is delicious but heavy. And offerings tightly conform to the mission. We visited during the cold winter of 2014. This type of food sticks to your ribs. It's a great place to eat during cold weather. I'm not so sure how attractive it will be in hot weather. I'm glad we tried it but we probably won't return. You must want this particular type of food to stop here. This establishment has 5 stars in most food reviews but this place is most definitely a hit or miss. I paid $17 for a ham & cheese quiche to pick up the next day. It was in a box labeled ham but when I opened it at home, there was bacon all over the top. Also when it was given to me it was ice cold. I was told that the cashier was supposed to ask me if I wanted quiche lorraine instead. She didn't say a word, only gave it to me as if it was a ham quiche. They offered to replace it if I bring it back. Drove from Savannah to Pooler in bad weather. Cashier acted as if she didn't know it wasn't ham. I ordered again for next day pick up, same item and I asked them to not refrigerate it and call me when its ready. They didn't call me and they also put it in the refrigerator. What is wrong with these people? I can understand making a mistake once but twice, you really don't give a S about your customer. I spent a total of $34 because I purchased other items as well, and btw the beef and blue cheese pastry was soggy and the sausage wrap tasted off. I did not go back to get the second quiche. I will just lose my money; I don't trust these people. I believe because of their dishonesty and bad business practice, they wouldn't have given me a freshly made product. read more

This rating is what I gave as everything I have gotten so far has been excellent. However. Twice I got items n was very very disappointed. Especially as I had bought then before a few times. Their cottage pie was wonderful but last time I got it. The pie had very little meat filling as it was mostly a nasty thick gravy. Then I purchased the chicken n thyme pie which was great the next time inside were a few pieces of dry chicken. No rice no thyme flavor at all. Not sure what happened those times but I will go back to them n try again. read more

This is not high faluting dining but it's British ambiance is perfectly welcoming! I was greeted kindly, perused the legit Brit grocery section and noted for future shopping. Moved on to cold take away (to go) pies etc. also good for future reference. I had popped in for a quick sit down lunch so I moved down to the hot pie selection and opted for the chicken curry pie. I love curry, so take that as you will. This was freshly baked, piping hot, amazing meld of flavors that gave the curry a slightly sweet note, which was perfect. Sweet peppers, chicken in a perfect flaky crust. Forget two thumbs up, envision food happy dance. The flavors were really rich, well executed and was a perfect lunch. I found this place looking for sweet delicacies on Yelp while in Savannah. I knew they sold sweet and savory but I was expecting more sweet options. On this day there were very few sweet options around lunch time. We bought an apple pie and another small pie that was a cake with fruit filling and a lemon tart top. I was hoping to be blown away but i wasn't. The Apple pie had a beautiful crust and was covered in sugar. Cutting into the pie I was expecting to see coated Apple slices like in a typical Apple pie. Instead the consistency was more like Applesauce with chunks of Apple. Taste? Well it tasted like applesauce...the baby food kind. It was unlike any Apple pie I've ever had. I expected that it wouldn't be very sweet but there was no sweetness, no cinnamon taste. Nothing. My husband literally took the pie, seasoned it and stuck it in the oven literally making a Cobbler out of it. On the bright side, The other "pie" was interesting. Personally, I think it would have been really good without the pie crust. It was the better of the two. That lemon tart topping was delicious. So I come here multiple times a week for either coffee, English snacks, or their amazing pies. Their mini Bakewell tarts have definitely been re-vamped and taste a lot more homemade! During the holidays they do the best fruit cakes- please add marzipan in top! I mean the flavors are just incomparable. Omg! 5 stars is not enough. This tiny little bakery is always packed and I understand why. Started with the Turkey, stuffing and cranberry pot pie: stop the presses! This pie is off the hook delicious! Filled with perfectly season turkey and stuffing and just the right amount of cranberry. The crust in so think, just covering the top of the pie, so flaky on the top and perfect chewiness underneath. Also had the Spinach, Feta and Onion pastie: the savory yumminess if this was divine! Creamy, chucks of feta, perfect amount of spinach and caramelized onions. No talking, just eating and enjoying!! Then wakes around for awhile before coming back for dessert. The pecan pie was perfection but the Victoria Sponge cake: simply profound it's it's goodness, the sponge cake was dense, moist, and absolutely perfect, then the whipped cream and strawberry jam in the middle?? Thank you! It had just the right amount of sweetness without being overkill. I should have ordered coffee to go with it because this is a desert you want to slowly savor with a nice cup of....anything!! The ship and I will order. And when back in Savannah, I will visit again. Usually this would be a five star rating. I bought pies Cornish pasties n sausage rolls all of which were really tasty. However I bought a Victoria sponge cake which I've bought before n never had any problems but this time the sponge was very dense and not edible. We used only quarter of cake. Too expensive to not be able to use n enjoy whole sponge cake. I will give them another try n hope for what I know is their best. read more

Fantastic! Went for the afternoon tea last week. Love the fancy mismatched china. All the food was great. Little sandwiches, scones (truly yummy!), and a variety of treats and teas. Really enjoyed it and so did my daughter, who is 22. It was the first time for the tea but we've been coming here for the meat pies since they opened. Family favs are cottage pie, steak and pot, and steak and mushroom. It's so nice to have a specialty place like this in Pooler. read more

Great find in Savannah, Georgia. Stop in for lunch and got the Cornish pasty while my wife got the steak and mushroom pie. Both were excellent with flaky crust and rich flavorful contents. I always try to find real pastas and meat pies in my travels but outside of England this is the first time I found the real thing. Will definitely be going back on my next trip. read more
