Was listed as a three-star hotel on Expedia but has more of a motel or two-star feel (beds are ok but not great, low-quality towels, cement walls, etc.). The prices they charged are certainly for a higher quality hotel. They don't clean the rooms everyday, although they didn't say anything about that when I booked or checked-in. We stayed 4 nights and wanted the room cleaned at least once; the staff were polite but unhelpful until we really pressed them. No restaurant or bar on the premises. On the plus side, it's in a good location and the hotel overall is reasonably clean. Wouldn't stay again. I have no idea who owns the place, but dealing with them, it reminded me of interactions I've had with businesses owned by a faceless management company or private equity, the kind of ownership that doesn't empower the staff to be helpful to the guests. read more

Stayed one night in September 2025. This place is a step back in time - like a 70's Day's Inn (which is exactly what it used to be). Check-in staff is sure friendly and offered good options for dining. The hotel is well worn, but super clean. Great bed that offered a solid night's sleep. Room was large and very quiet. The place was grimy. Our room was right next to the pool, so our window opened into the pool. They weren't going to come clean the room each day. The place was out dated. I was disappointed. Stayed one night July 2025. Friendly and helpful staff, rooms appear to be recently refurbished and very clean. Didn't use the pool but it looked nice. Only complaint is that hallways are big noise conduits. Doors impossible to close quietly and any voices are amplified to excessive levels. read more

An ok place for overnight. Beds were very nice and comfortable. Indoor corridor room entries and all on one floor. Yah! Parking close to all entrances into the building. The indoor pool was open and highly chlorinated. A sign at the pool warned of bathing suit fading from the chemicals. We did not use the pool. No coffee or breakfast, which was fine. Convenient location but be aware of the road construction, they are putting in a roundabout and some streets are one way. If you want soft bathroom tissue and Kleenex, bring it with you. This hotel is close to the cruises pier but you still need a car to get there. read more

If I could give this hotel less than 1 star I would. Seriously, this place is a price gouging dump. My husband and I had a car accident and were stranded and had to get a room. This place was the only place available and they charged us $200. I was expecting better quality for the price and it was a big disappointment. When we got here to check in it took forever and they were overbooking the place. You'd think they'd have a better system. The elevator was not working and the pool was drained and being filled. Our room had permanently locked sliding doors to the pool and since they were filling it you could hear all the banging around. They don't even offer breakfast in the morning. What a fricking joke. Large desk table. Great pool, hot tub and sauna. Free coffee bar and ice near front desk. This is a TERRIFIC little hotel!!! We stayed here Sep/30/2022 through 3/Oct/2022. The hotel has that Up-North-Michigan-log-hunting-cabin feel. I've attached some of my pics. My wife, Kimberly Y., also left a review--we live in Lansing but she hasn't updated her profile so it indicates Longbranch, WA. The staff is REALLY nice---shout-out to Heidi at the front desk who was SOOOO sweet and helpful!! The hotel is modern, clean, well-kept, and the rooms were the same way. The rooms have a fridge, microwave, hair dryer, and coffee maker. There are also coffee dispensers in the lobby, which are nice to supplement what's in the rooms. There are some clothing souvenir items for sale in the lobby too. There's free WiFi, a nice heated pool, a steam-room sauna, and a hot tub. The hot tub ONLY accommodates 6 people, so it's a crap-shoot if it's available unless you don't mind dealing with strangers in a close-quarter setting. The small hot tub is my ONLY negative aspect about this hotel. There's one thing that MAY be important to some---there's NO ELEVATOR. If you have a mobility limitation, you would want to address that for a 1st-floor room. This hotel couldn't be more conveniently located--The downtown area is about 3 blocks away (seriously--it's that close). There's a Family Fare grocery store literally across the street along with the Munising visitors' center (if you go to the web cam for the Munising visitor's center, you can see the hotel across the street, the Family Fare sign, and the Shell station), a Hardee's, an auto parts store, and Shell gas station. We stocked up on goodies at the Family Fare to include breakfast sandwiches to microwave in the room versus having to go out 1st thing for breakfast--there's no breakfast at this hotel. If you're into the stink-weed, there's a couple of those shops nearby too. The Eh, Burger restaurant in town had excellent food at a good price---try the 5-piece whitefish basket!! Lake Superior whitefish caught locally--YUM!!! The gift shop in the Pictured Rocks Cruise center is the biggest, most complete, and best in the area...FYI. In short, don't hesitate to stay here as it's a REALLY nice place. I'd have NO quarrel booking a stay in the future! read more

We returned to this motel and they now have a computer system at the front desk for taking reservations, etc. No more 3 ring binders, so that's good. I was initially heartened to see that a brand new air conditioner had replaced the loud antique one that had been in the room on our last visit. Unfortunately the new model is not up to the task....our room never got cool. They need something with more BTU's; I think they got cheap. They have upgraded some of the light fixtures to new modern ones. NOTE to the cleaning staff: Cleaning the room every day is supposed to include vacuuming and cleaning the toilet. And, you ought to wash the windows once in a while. When making reservations you are informed that they have a 72hr cancellation policy.... that's unreasonable and not in line with other establishments. I'll keep my 2 star rating and the recommendation to lower your expectations, or find somewhere better (if you can). read more

Great time from start to finish. Booked my room MONTHS ago by phone, great experience. When we arrived at 2:00pm, of course our room wasn't ready, not the hotel's fault, but they got us all pre-checked and we chatted and then went off to explore Munising for a while. Had lunch (see review of Eh! Burger.) Got back, checked in. Staff we dealt with, Sonya, Debbie and Julie were simply delightful. Hotel is older, but obviously cared for. Beds are a little less than the best, but after a long day sight-seeing I had no trouble taking the night train to Sleepytown. Coffee in the lobby was always ready and good. Room amenities are standard and adequate. I WILL be staying here again. read more

I think it wasn't bad , rooms fell a bit damp. After you shower. Disappointed there wasn't even a continental breakfast set up, they do have coffee. Jacuzzi was not working but pool was nice. This Hotel/Inn was the epitome of how not to care about the standards that your guests are paying for and should expect. It is in desperate need for an update and there was a ad saying there was a continental breakfast but it was really a coupon to the bagel shop across the street that was so busy that there was an hour wait to sit and order. But back to the room it was like no one had cleaned or paid attention to the maintenance and upkeep of the room at all. See attachments. There were bulbs out and toilet seat was very loose, not to mention the hairs in the tub and bathroom floor along with the multiple black stains and streaks on the bed covering. The owner was at the desk and when I mentioned the issues she checked my acct info and was more concerned with how I got the room for 140$, she said we should be paying 200 per night. Thanks trivago. They have a indoor pool but when we went to use it the air was sooooo littered with the aroma of chlorine that we could not even sit in there let alone swim, even the small amount of time I was in there I came away with a major headache. So I recommend NOT EVER staying in this dirty, infested, attempt at a Hotel/Inn the only good thing was location but there are other options....Take the smart route and rent somewhere else read more

The location is amazing for pictured rocks. Right by downtown, the lake, and state parks. The hot tub and pool was a plus for later in the day. The room was out dated, but we didn't spend much time in it. Heidi at the front desk was super sweet and helpful. We were really disappointed by our stay at the Pictured Rocks Inn & Suites. The customer service I received at check-in was rude and unaccommodating. They post a passive aggressive sign in the bathroom about items in the hotel room, the hot tub was broken and the entire hotel is old and unkempt. That said, I appreciated the coupons and discounts to local restaurants and cafes. Also, all of the cleaning staff were super sweet and upbeat so that's a plus! My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is definitely outdated, and needs some remodeling. That being said, it was pretty darn clean and the staff was friendly. Parking can fill up quickly but seems to be well lit and secure. The hotel is directly across from a grocery store, a Hardees and a bagel shop-being as small a town as this is, having those things nearby is convenient. Most things close early though so keep that in mind. read more

We reserved a weekend trip through Expedia a week before our travel date and we're looking forward to seeing the lake and its natural beauty. Sadly, my wife took sick the day before the trip, past the date where we could receive a refund for both nights but we explained the situation and asked nicely for a refund. Pictured Rock Hotel said that, since the reservation was made through Expedia, they would have to approve the request. When we made the request to Expedia, they said that it was up to Pictured Rock Hotel to approve. So, we assumed that they agreed not to refund our first night at the hotel. It's ok, they have both lost a customer and we encourage all potential visitors to Pictured Rock Hotel to reserve with caution and to potential users of Expedia to make the reservations to be aware that there are no exceptions to their rules and once they have permission to charge your credit card, they definitely will. No excuses! There are other hotels and reservation sites in the Munising MI area. read more

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!!!! NEGATIVE STARS!!!!!! Dirty room and bathroom, smells of mold, carpeting is filthy, the bathroom smells of urine, has a mildewy shower curtain, and a previously opened soap and shampoo left for us as new. The keyless entry works intermittently. The staff is surly and disinterested, too busy with their iphones to provide good service. DON'T STAY HERE!!!!! Our stay at the pictured Rocks Inn and Suite was awful. Do not stay in room 66. The receptionist said it was her favorite room But, she mislead us.It is a large room, but it is located next to a mechanical room. It made horrible noises from midnight to 6am. We are up all night and the room was 200.00. The room was also outdated and housekeeping was slow. The clerk was very disorganized and hotel appeared old piece milled together. For what I paid I was very disappointed. The hot tub wasn't working, the sauna light was out so the room was pitch black. When I said something to the front desk workers it was to bad so sad. Friendly staff...but the rooms are very overpriced. Should of been a $60 a night room not $200. The room smelled of stale smoke. The bed was VERY uncomfortable. Ended up sleeping on the pullout couch it was so bad. We weren't going to use the pool but it was broken down. I see others have posted about the pool in the past also. So not a new problem. Way over priced, we stayed in Room 20. It was quiet at night and again the staff was nice and allowed us to cancel the second night. I used booking.com and half the reason I picked this place was for continental breakfast, they DO NOT have breakfast. In addition to not having breakfast, in the room once I walked in the door didn't close behind me, then I pushed it shut but it still didn't stay closed, I seriously had to push hard in order for it to latch. Then the window, which is broken on one side, and the hotel also made it so that the window can not be opened (major fire hazard & violation). Then the bathroom, this door won't close no matter how hard I push. The furniture is classic worn out furniture from the 70s and hasn't been updated since. The bed was not very comfortable and it was supposed to be a queen but I have a queen at home and this bed was much smaller, maybe a full? Definitely not the hotel room I expected for how much they charge, if I knew how bad it would be I would spend an extra 20 bucks a night and be in one of the (actually) nice hotels right on Lake Superior. I definitely will not be coming back, very under satisfied. read more

We reserved a room for two nites recently, needed a king bed and all that was available was a king suite. Got to the room and it was a large room with a king bed and couch on one wall, TV and dresser on the opposite wall, a desk and fridge on the wall next to the window and this big area in the middle of the room. This is not a suite just a big room. The pool appeared clean and temp was comfortable. The hot tub was warm with half the jets working. Breakfast was cereal, donuts, breads and fruit. Expected a little more for the price. (went out both mornings) The second nite we got back to our room and thought we would have a wine cooler with our pizza we brought. Went to the frig and one of our wine coolers was missing. After a little looking we found an empty bottle in one of our bags. Now I know I didn't drink it, my wife didn't drink it so our assumption is that when house keeping was in the bathroom changing towels some one must have slipped in, drank it, put the empty in our bag and left before she came out of the bathroom. Where to start...The nicest part of my stay was the ladies at the front desk. They were extremely nice and very welcoming. This hotel is outdated, overpriced and smells. It's a blast from the past. The rooms look like the 1950's and are nothing special for $175 a night!! Our room smelled like mold, the mattresses were springy, and are in desperate of an updated. Hardly any towels, soap or shampoo in the bathroom, as well as no extra toilet paper rolls. The hot tub, my bath water was warmer, which was a total bummer. Our room was above the pool area. Which was horrible when it came time for bed. The light that came in to the room, along with the noise. They need to put ALOT of money in to updating this place. With $175 a night, you'd think they could totally afford to do that. Pay the extra $100, and stay in a chain hotel. I wanted my money to stay local and in Michigan, but, if they can't put the effort in to their guests comfort, I won't be staying here again. read more

We checked in and found the carpet to be filthy and torn, the shower curtain was dirty and old, there was no screen on the window (ground floor), and it smelled badly. We went back to the desk to tell them it was unacceptable, and they charged us for a night anyway. Do not go to this place until they renovate, and honor customers. read more

This has been a very unpleasant experience overall. The staff was very rude on the phone and in person. We inquired about checking in early (20 minutes early...) and the woman insisted there were no rooms ready. On top of the unfriendly staff, the stairwell wreaked of body odor, the coffee maker is IN the bathroom, and there was no rod on the tissue holder. Disappointing experience. I made reservations through bookings.com for a weekend with friends back in February. My mom went into emergency surgery which kept her in the hospital for nearly 1 month. I contacted bookings.com to cancel 2 days prior to my expected arrival date. I was charged because I didn't cancel in time. I explained my situation and bookings.com tried working with Pictured Rocks Inn & Suites who stated they needed to talk with me and the manager before a decision could be made to credit my account for the cancellation. I called multiple times to reach out to Cory (sp?) with no success, no return calls. The cancellation was made 2 days in advance. The situation was completely unavoidable and I feel I shouldn't had been charged for a room they had the ability to rebook. They did have a nice sauna and it seemed relatively clean on the surface. But those were about the only positives. It was extremely overpriced, $140/night for a full bed!! There was a line when we were checking in and one of the workers literally said "no" when the other worker asked for help. Then the room smelled like mildew and the water never ran at a constant temperature. Even the "hot tub" jets and shower would fluctuate between burning hot and cold. Also with the shower, the curtain didn't fit right so the bottom few inches of it sat in the dirty water which was disgusting. The window didn't lock and it seemed like you could just as easily open this from the outside. The rooms aren't soundproof at all so even if you could sleep thinking about how terrible it is, the noisy people running up and down the halls will probably wake you up. read more
