This place also has the nicest and most helpful staff I have come across in a long time. Just be warned that it is a small hotel, so can book up fast. This is the nicest hotel that we have stayed in in the UP. We go on a trip every tear for our anniversary. We went to the UP In 20, 22, and now 22. We did arrive pretty late. They usually have staff from 11pm to 7am, but they didn't the night we were staying. We arrived at 11:20, and the lady at the front was super accomodating. We had called before hand and they let us know that it would be ok. When we walked the halls, everything looked super nice and clean. They had some nice art work, super nice chairs, and decor. We walked in the room and we saw there was a door that let to the bedroom and one for the bathroom: the bathroom had another door that also led to the bedroom. They were really nice wood doors. There was a small living room. The bed was massive (we got a king). The room was super clean too. We were so happy to have a nice clean room. We did have breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was great too. When we were checking out, the worker reminded us we have discounts at local shops. We decided to go to the party store to get some gas. read more

The hotel is very warm and welcoming. The old hospital is remodeled into a modern hotel. This is the third time we have stayed here and the bed is comfortable with an attached suite. The many touches with the blanket having a cute belt, granite bathroom sink with iron legs, freshly painted walls with gorgeous wood trim and doors. Wide doorways and gorgeous photos of Lake Superior adorn all walls. Short walk into town, church, grocery store and the lake. Views of Lake Superior on the north side of the building are amazing. There is a snack room with treats and soft drinks. Staff are friendly and the place is spotless. Worth the stay. The attached restaurant Tracey's is delicious. Have fun with this stop! read more

I could write a very looooong review about how wonderful this Inn is - but I will try to sum it up. If you are visiting in town and are looking for a place to stay, as a very frequent traveler to a lot of cities and states, this has been one of my favorite places I have stayed in a long time. For a small town, this is the bees knees. Attention to detail, fantastic personalized service, the rooms are spotless and very, very well decorated and welcoming. We spent three nights at the Roam Inn recently and it was a great property. The proprieter Anna was a wonderful host and very helpful. We chatted with her a couple times and she is wonderful. The rooms are beyond spacious and extremely clean and well kept. The pictures throughout the property are spectacular of the local sights. It is really a great property whether you stop for only one evening - but we recommend more. And if you are only passing through - you need to plan on having dinner at Tracey's! Stayed at Roam for a few days. It was a really cute and unique place to stay. Great location. The room was cute. We had a suite and well yes looking out off the balcony you do see the highschool you can still see munising Bay and it's beautiful! You can walk down across the street and catch a sunrise at the multiple picnic tables down by the bay. The major complaint was the air-conditioner was right next to the head of the bed and it blew directly into your face while asleep, and had a slight mildew smell. There were no screens on the windows or the sliding door so you couldn't enjoy a fresh breeze, kinda weird. Staff was great and so was the restaurant downstairs, very pricey but was worth it to eat there once. Kinda akward walking through the restaurant to get to your hotel room suite . The regular rooms you dont have to they have a back entrance. In the morning at the bar area of the restaurant they had out muffins and yogurt and granola, cereal and fruit which was nice to have. Talk about a Diamond in the rough. The Inn looks like a Swiss chalet. The high school across the street blocks most of the lake view. But, oh, what a great nights sleep I had. Bedding and bed were first class. The bathroom was modern with great water pressure. Luxury bath soaps and lotions were in abundance. Big, soft fluffy towels. Coffee and tea available in the lobby. We had a king suite. Nice living room combo with a door to the bedroom so you could have more privacy and quiet. And don't miss the charming restaurant on the premises. It depends what you're looking for. We reserved and stayed as 3 adults; so we reserved a bedroom/sitting room combo. It was clean and comfortable. It was quiet and we got a good night's sleep. Yet... I paid $312/night for 2 nights ($624 total) and the in-room refrigerator couldn't handle single-serve bottles of water and Coke without laying them on their side, the sleeper sofa wasn't made (I had to ask the desk where the sheets were and we had to make it ourselves), the bathroom didn't have enough space on the sink to hold our stuff. read more

Loved our stay at Roam Inn!! We booked this place for our honeymoon and arrived to the sweetest letter with a bottle of champagne. Highly recommend this place. We stayed three nights in #18 king suite with a balcony and great views of the water. Such a relaxing week. I actually called a few weeks ago to get some recommendations since we had never been up here and Debbie was so helpful!! She even made me a reservation at Tracy's, the restaurant at the Inn. Food was amazing!! We got the surf and turf for 2 ($125). The week was filled with hiking the beautiful waterfall trails in the area. Everyone in the town is really nice and made our experience so great! We will be coming back in the Summer! read more

We stayed at Roam Inn in Munising Mi. on 06/08/2024. 0n 06/11/2024 we were billed $500 for a smoking charge in our room. I do smoke and from there camera on the outside of building they saw smoking 2 times outside. I did not smoke in our room. We also went to the casino at Christmas for about 5 hours and gambled, where everyone smokes. I am sure our clothes smelled like smoke. I was able to stay at the Roam Inn when I went to visit Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the spring of 2018. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and it was a rainy morning but the evening was nice enough to enjoy sitting on the patio of Tracey's (the restaurant in the hotel) and enjoy a few Happy Hour drink specials. I ordered the pineapple margarita (Not that great for a margarita but not surprising for northern Michigan.) and my boyfriend got one of their Michigan beers. I honestly would recommend trying the beers at Tracey's as they have a largish selection and several from the UP region. I really enjoyed the patio and on the Saturday afternoon we were there and had some down time the bar was closed but we got a 6 pack of local beer from a store up the road and enjoyed sitting on the patio again. The front desk dude (I am pretty sure his name was Andy and he was just the best!) told us the hotel was originally a mansion, added onto for a retirement home and about two years ago renovated into a hotel. The majority of the rooms (except for a few above the restaurant and common area) are on the first floor with the hotel floor plan being roughly in the shape of a U. We were in room 11 and it was very charming. The view out our room window was of a fence but you don't go all the way to the UP of Michigan to sit in your hotel room so I wasn't that upset. The mini bar selection was extensive, the bed was super comfy, the closet nook area was efficient, they had Discovery on the TV and overall it was very clean. The only things I have to complain about the room were pet peeves like no soap dish in the bathroom and no mirror in the room other than the bathroom mirror. The common spaces, employees and Tracey's restaurant were probably the best parts about staying at the Roam Inn. Just past the front desk in the hall leading to most of the rooms are a ton of photos of the area and a giant map of Northern Michigan and the UP. The map had a bunch of details and listed several great activities to do based on your interests like hiking or kayaking. There were a ton of bathrooms in the common area (Which I totally appreciated since I am usually a big bathroom shopper and we stopped in at Tracey's a couple times while we were there!) that were beautifully appointed and very clean. The front desk check in is a bit awkwardly located right in the middle of the bar but we knew exactly where the bar was as soon as we got there! (If they just flipped in 180 degrees to the other hall or swapped it with the bathroom directly in front of the front door, I think it would be less cramped but I am no interior designer either.) The patio space is very well done with an AMAZING view of the water, docks and terrain of the area including just a glimpse of the Pictured Rocks. Tracey's Restaurant is definitely a must if you are visiting Munising but reservations are recommended as the interior seating is limited and seemed to fill up very quickly when we visited. We were lucky that the weather allowed us a seat on the patio the first night and we had made reservations for the next night. They have a dining room, bar and patio seating in different areas of the common spaces which makes for an interesting layout but is aesthetically pleasing overall. The food is very good but the prices are a little high and they couldn't make a strawberry margarita. For our entire visit we came across several employees including the front desk attendants, servers and housekeeping staff who were nothing but pleasant and accommodating. There was a personalized hand written post card waiting for us when we arrived in our room and it was super cheesy but I actually really liked it. Andy from the front desk was super nice and gave us a ton of pointers on things to do, where to shop and sights to see and even joined us for a beer after he was done working for the day. The Roam Inn is slightly more expensive than the majority of places to stay in Munising but not by much and it is completely worth it. The hotel was quiet at night, new, clean, has friendly staff with a great restaurant only steps from your room. I would 100% recommend staying at the Roam Inn for your next visit to Munising. read more

This was my first time eating here so I wasn't sure what to expect. My husband and I ordered three small p,ages to share and a bottle of wine. We were with another couple and it was a little disconcerting to be served my first plate 5 minutes before another In our party was served. I was always taught to wait to eat until everyone e is served (parties less than 10]. Its was probable 10minutes before we all were served. Coffee was ordered W with dessert and was served after dessert was finished. My potato chip crusted whitefish was delicious. The tomato and herb sauce was delicate and flavorful. My husbands mushroom/Parmesan pasta was tasty And a little on the rich side. The Brussels sprouts were a big disappointment. They were maybe roasted but the balsamic made them soggy. The flavor was off-putting and left a not so pleasant taste in my mouth. What the total meal was lacking and could have really enhanced each dish, was bread. A good focaccia with olive oil and sea salt would have been ideal. Without a bread offering to sop up those beautiful sauces and cut the richness, may be the determining factor whether I could come here again. read more

I visited with my sister this past weekend. When we arrived, we walked into what looked like a Christmas party being hosted there. The whole set up of the place is warm and beautiful. The receptionist was so nice and check in took two seconds. We were thrilled to find a living room attached to our standard room. It also had a tv, pull out couch, small refrigerator and even a snack bar! We plan on coming back with our friends in the future! read more

Roam Inn was part of a tour to Pictured Rocks. We had lunch in what appeared to be a meeting room. The room was old and dilapidated. The food was the worst I ever had. Everyone agreed. All the food was cold. We were served spaghetti that had been sitting long enough to be dried out. Some was so dried it was hard. Bread was hard and dried. Green beans were tough and chewy. Mashed potatoes were over salted. No sauce or gravy served. Chicken breasts were the frozen kind with water injected. Dessert was cookie, I didn't try them. Overall practically ineatable. Avoid this place. I rather eat at McDonalds. read more

This place was amazing! We were here for our anniversary and pleasantly surprised by the quality and size of our room. Not only did they check us in at 11am, They had champagne, water and a card waiting for us in our room upon arrival. The staff at the front desk as well as the restaurant were top notch. Our dinner at Tracy's was amazing as well. We are already planning another trip and can't wait to come back. We stayed at the Roam Inn last weekend while visiting Munising for the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The room rates are pretty pricey I guess because it was a weekend and they make the most business on weekends (All the cars in the parking lot were gone by Sunday morning!). The rooms are very clean, towels were very soft for a hotel room. The Tracey's Inn restaurant has a limited menu and again very pricey but the food was well presented and tasted good so no complaints. I would recommend it to anyone willing to spend a bit more for a hassle free weekend. read more

I came to Munising for the first time last weekend . I was attending a rescheduled photography class with Neil Weaver and Aubrieta Hope. The Roam Inn staff welcomed us warmly, check in was seamless. My room was large and spotless. I had plenty of room to store all of the equipment needed to take my class. We had dinner on the deck one evening it was delicious and the waitstaff was charming and attentive. We stopped in for appetizers and drinks at the bar after a sunset shoot. The bartender was amazing... unfortunately his name escapes me. This charming hotel was a great base for excursions . Covid has changed the housekeeping process , but the staff where still very attentive to any request. I enjoyed my 5 days at the Roam Inn and would recommend it to anyone heading up to the UP. Inside of the hotel room was small but decent. Bathroom was fine, new tub. The problem(s). Since the restaurant Traceys is right below the rooms, I heard dishes clanging, the entire side of the wall would boom, from what I'm assuming was kitchen related. All this noise went on until about 1am on a Saturday night. I had a day of hiking planned for the following day and didn't get the rest I needed to fully enjoy it. Since the restaurant was closed on Sunday and Monday (not sure why), I got better sleep the last night. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Roam Inn, in Munising last Friday night for his Birthday! The staff was so friendly and amazing. The room we stayed in had a lovely balcony on the second floor. My boyfriend and I were both in awe, of the lovely classy, rustic room we got for the night. Our room was so clean, the bathroom and bathtub were huge. It was all the little touches we loved so much! Reminded me much of a resort you'd stay in, in South Lake Tahoe. We enjoyed an exceptional Dinner at the resorts restaurant downstairs, Tracey's! Everything on the menu looked great, but we decided to try the Japanese side of the menu. We shared the Pot stickers, Spicy Lobster Roll, the Chicken and Shrimp rice bowl, as well as the Waygu Beef Ramen bowl! Everything was mouth watering and the flavors were spot on, even down to the pickiling of the veggies, and the marinated egg. Being someone who has had there share of Japanese cuisine and a half Japanese daughter I was more than satisfied, and impressed. To finish our meal we shared the Creme Brulee for his birthday dessert. It was by far one of the best Creme Brulee's I've ever had if not the best! It was so sweet, light and fluffy, and the top was perfection, not over cooked just a nice thick layer of caramelized candy! The manager Dusty came over and talked to us for a while, he had such a great energy we both enjoyed his conversation, and appreciated his taking time to come talk with us. Being the slow season and all there wasn't much to do in town for the night , but that was ok our room and the whole hotel was so cozy we retired early to our room and enjoyed the comfy environment, and watch T.V. We were also on the tour to Pictured Rocks (as mentioned in the review by Betty B.) and had lunch here as part of the tour, and, we feel completely opposite of what this person mentioned in her (earlier) review. The meal was GREAT, the atmosphere was GREAT, and the experience overall was GREAT! Hats off to the server that served our group. She did an excellent job overall. So, in the earlier review, this person said that everyone agreed? Not true. Not even close to true. The group I was with had a nice experience. There was a particular group of 3 or 4 individuals who had nothing nice to say, ABOUT ANYTHING. I have a suspicion that there wasn't going to be any way they were going to be pleased, regardless. It's a shame that people can ruin the experience of others on the tour. They really should travel "on their own" so they don't affect others out to have a nice time. read more
