I'm really heartbroken writing this…read more Daisy, my 14-year-old dog, came in for grooming and was returned looking clean... but clearly not herself. She didn't wag her tail, didn't come to me like she usually does, and was unusually quiet. Something felt off. That night she stayed calm at home, but the next morning, after just five minutes outside, she refused to walk. I noticed her paw was swollen and inflamed. The vet said it looked like trauma or possibly a burn around the nail bed, consistent with grooming-related injury. The salon later sent a photo of Daisy after the grooming, but it doesn't show her paws at all. That felt strange. When I called to share what happened and ask for accountability, the owner was cold, dismissive, and refused to take any responsibility or even acknowledge the concern. I'm not here to point fingers, but I do want to share my experience. Daisy is healing now, but this was and still is a painful and stressful experience for both of us. We have a new appointment at the vet.

She was fantastic at communicating and was the first groomer ever to actually listen to our requested haircut!! Having a doodle means a certain style of grooming, but we just needed her to be short all over and she's the only groomer that didn't question our decision and did exactly like we asked. We didn't need any touchups! (Which is a first). She was perfect! I highly recommend Astrid for grooming and will continue to book with her going forward!! Plus, as an added bonus, everyone at this store was so friendly and sweet to my little puppy.

I have mixed feelings about my experience at River Dog Jax. On one hand, the instruction is…read moretop-tier. I absolutely love Keiko Swanberg; she is a highly experienced and incredibly positive certified trainer. Her teaching style makes a world of difference, and the progress seen in the classes is a testament to her expertise! However, the facility itself leaves much to be desired. The space is consistently dirty and unkempt. There is a very noticeable smell, and dog hair accumulates heavily in all the corners and along the edges of the room. It is disappointing to have such a high-quality trainer working in an environment that feels so neglected. I hope the management prioritizes a deep clean soon to match the caliber of their instructors.

I am not much of a Yelper but decided to leave a comment on here in addition to my Google review…read more Our pup Indie has been going to Jax Riverdog for nearly 2 years. Indie requires some extra attention and care due to some injuries and food sensitivities, and when Carolyn and Kim were there- she definitely received all the love and attention! Indie knows Jason very well and enjoys his company, and I believe she is slowly warming up to some of the newer staff (she is a particular pup.) Indie always comes back exhausted from camp, and we always love seeing photos of he on her walks, or playing games, or, her favorite, getting pup cups! The team at Jax, especially the Companion Camp have always been informative and caring and we know that Indie is in good hands here, when there were days her arthritis was acting up, the Jax team was quick to contact us, and let us know how she was doing so we could determine if she should just rest, or if we should come get her. She also wears a brace (for her arthritis) when she is active- so Jax has been very understanding in learning how to put it on her, and when it should be used. We have also given her a bath in their facilities (wish it was open on weekends but understand that requires additional staffing) We are currently taking our 2nd class on K9 Nosework with Austin on the weekends - and she loves it! We have had positive experiences at Jax and truly appreciate all of the folks that look after her when she is in their care.

My personal preference is for my dog to not be in a kennel or cage so that was my guideline. The first time we needed to use Happy Hound was on fairly short notice and I appreciated that they were able to accommodate me. HHH requires each dog to come in to visit and be evaluated before coming for a stay. The staff also will give a tour of the facility, which was reassuring to me. The evaluation was not really formal, my sense was just to see if they behave well around other dogs and would do OK at the facility. Note that they don't allow young children to come to the tour or inside the facility - I actually appreciate that even though it required some extra planning. After the first time I dropped off my dog, one of the staff called me one or two days later to let me know that she was doing fine and enjoyed hanging out in the kitchen. It was a very nice gesture for them to call. A different time that we brought our dog, she was very nervous to even get out of the car - the manager was so patient and gentle in helping get her out of the car and then called me a couple of hours later to tell me that she was doing well. I even received a couple of photos emailed to me from her stay - hanging out in the kitchen of course. If my dog was high energy, this place would be heaven for her given all the outdoor activities and opportunity to run, move and play. Since she's older and low energy, the staff tries to have her hang out with some older or calmer dogs. I agree that the price is a bit high, but it's a different pricing model (one price and the dogs have fairly free range) than other places which have a set price and then you add on for outdoor time or playtime per day, etc. I really feel like the owner and people working there care about the dogs and are knowledgeable. I separately asked the owner for advice on a concern with my dog and she replied quickly, remembered my dog and had good input. We'll certainly be back, whenever we need a dog hotel!

‼Please read before coming here‼rude staff and inexperienced lazy grooming‼I am mind blown at how…read moreawful our experience was today. Rude staff, lazy groomer (specifically the older Chinese man) My golden doodle was brought in with MINIMAL mats on the hind area. and I told them please keep her fluffy but shorter than she is currently. So they said totally fine. the front desk lady did not call me, I called them to ask about an ETA for pickup, and she told me "by the way he might have to go a little shorter cause of mats" I said "okay fine no worries as long as she has some fluff" come pickup time, my partner walked in and she had him pay BEFORE receiving our dog (already shady and weird) and when she brought her out, my dog was unrecognizable. Shaved down almost to the skin, head is a triangle shape, tail is half way shaved down, paws were shaved down, and overall choppy. My boyfriend told her that if he would have known she would look this bad, we would have done her ourselves at home. When I went in after to complain, she told me then I could be refunded which is good. I was happy with a refund but shocked at how bad she looked. I get home and I call the front desk lady to ask what the hell happened and why would he do this, she rudely told me "well I told you he needed to go shorter so I don't know what to tell you." I explained how she was previously brought in very matted after our cross country move and she was still worked on, returned nicely and fluffy. She said "I'll just have an owner call you" and hung up on me rudely. I cannot believe how after they ruined the way my golden doodle looks and her fur, that I would be treated this way. Hung up on? When I was just asking for an explanation? Or something that made sense? Disgusting. To add, she also told me that "each groomer has their own way of doing things, some like to work on mats and some don't." I said "this is not their dog, she is MY dog, and should not be groomed a certain way without my permission." She swears up and down that she told me that he has to "cut her a little shorter" but I was not expecting this mess. I'm really disappointed in how I was treated after. Any good business will be apologetic and understanding. Instead I got looks of "you're bothering me" type of vibes, hung up on and told "I don't know what to tell you." I have brought her here several times, I should've stopped bringing her here when they took SEVEN hours the first time, this will certainly be the last. I encourage you all to find a different groomer. Especially considering they just swap out dogs in kennels all day instead of working on one dog at a time. They could care less about any bad experience. My golden doodle I have had go to many groomers since she was a puppy. Never has she looked this bad, and never have I seen such laziness. Also, my dog who is very calm, is now shaking and peeing of anxiety when I bring her in, which makes me think she was not treated the best. I saw in another review someone said the same and I had the same experience. The photo of her fluffy is the before. The skinny version of her was the awful cut today. To the owner: please get your employees in check, this is truly awful customer service and and will take months to grow back to anything close to what it was at. Do not recommend, especially for golden doodles.
