I've been going to this location for years and have referred MANY to our previous groomer who was let go with new "salon management". Notified day prior to our dual back to back appt. First appt with Bree was great but second was scheduled with Hope the salon manager who informed me that because she was a manager with possible other duties it could take longer than our usual 1.5 hrs. I pay for what they call VIP service which excuses dogs from kennels. When I questioned and said I'd have to find someone else if this was to happen Hope was about to give my dog back. Grooming proceeded, next dog was drooped off, I sent text how cute they looked and thank you. Also messaged for next appt. No contact. Called store mgr to ask about status and discuss conversation with Hope. Tyler was to have them call me for next appt. Couple weeks have gone by and no contact, even after messages left and text sent. Called today and was transferred to salon. They informed me the mgr was to call me and would not schedule appts. Word will get out about this horrible salon manager and their lack of service. Big mistake as I've referred tons of people to this location. read more

My husband and I come here often for dog food and treats. The staff is friendly for the most part, but we did run into one cashier who must have been having a bad day and decided to give my husband an attitude and treat him like a piece of trash. Now, whenever we go to Petco, if I see her standing at the register, I'll just wait in the car. I don't know her name, but she's a younger female with glasses. Called to get an appointment for my 2 dogs to get groomed. They were booked out 2+ months. I said okay and made the appointment. About a month later they called and said the groomer hurt her back and couldn't groom large dogs and had to reschedule my dogs for another groomer. That pushed the appointment another 2 weeks. Now, a few days before the appointment they send a text saying they have canceled all grooming appointments and closed the salon. She likes live food and she likes it often. As big box pet stores go, I'm a fan of Petco (3 stars). It's not the cheapest option (hmmmm... what is?), but is cheaper than many of the boutique stores. Two of the eastside locations are convenient for me -- Factoria and Issaquah. It's great for insects for "the destroyer". I'm bumping the Issaquah location up a star from my Petco baseline of 3-stars for these reasons:. - consistently friendly and helpful people. - fresh superworms -- frequently less than 1-2 weeks since arrival - insect containers are full of living insects, not half full or half dead. - decent reptile supply I am very much NOT fond of the Factoria store (2 stars) for the same reasons: - people are not friendly and seem to avoid contact or helping out - many times ALL of the superworm containers are months old with lots of deaders. - I've purchased superworms here a number of times where the containers with 50%-60% of the listed number of wormsl. Why? Don't know, but it's happened three times to me. I complained twice about it but now have just stopped going. Happy end-of-brumination! It's spring. read more

Worst cut for my golden retriever. One leg looks like one person cut it, the other leg looks like a completely different person cut it. It's clear they have no idea how to cut the hair of a golden retriever. Nails/paw trim was so poorly done that I had to do it again when my dog got home. Paw hair was not cut at all. If I could give this a zero stars I would. The service is horrible and the manager Aaron is just as unprofessional and should be fired. For the manager to hang up in my face after they didn't finish services on my dog is ridiculous. I don't understand who put her in a management role. I took both of my dogs to the grooming for the first time there and the service was horrible I spent over $100 just for one of my dog to be there for over 8 hours and not even dry. The groomer claim he was scared of the blow dryer which is insane to me because he gets groomed all the time and never had a problem with being blow dried. When I arrived to pick him up he was soaked and looked horrible, The groomer said I can come back and get a free service due to my dog not even being completed and when I try to do so they come up with every excuse in the book not to finish my dog services that they still made me pay for and never completed. I would not recommend!! These groomers are not experienced and the manager Aaron there seems like they need management training as well. This whole store overall needs a visit from corporate. I went on line to see what the price of front line plus 3pk was and all of the stores (target,PetSmart, Walmart etc ) were 34.33 . I made sure this was not just an online price and sent my husband to purchase this , he went To Petco and when it was run up it was 71.00, when he got home I called PetSmart first to see if the price they had online 34.33 was correct it was. So I called Petco back and asked how much their frontline was and he replied 67.00plus tax. I took it back and got my money back, I asked why online it says 34.33 and he just shrugged his shoulders. I bought two Canadian goose for my dogs, I asked the cashier if I can come change it to different size the following day he said YES, I went the following day he suggest me to go to different PETCO, I went to PETCO Factorial. Just got back from Petco with the worst experience !! I took down our small puppy for 1st grooming, and due to a few mats they refused to perform any items. I didn't want a haircut, but wanted a pet bath, trimming of the nairs, and some hair cut away from the eyes/face (where there were no mats). However, the groomer kept stating that it was company policy that they were unable to perform any 'grooming' if the dog had any mats. I will definitely find another place, as I didn't know that I needed to have my dog groomed before paying more money to have her 'groomed' by Petco. Jennifer D.'s review is all too familiar! We had seen Krista for years at the Issaquah location and loved her. Sadly, she moved to the Bellevue location and its just too far of a drive for us. We have seen a couple different groomers at he Issaquah location and every time I just felt like I was "bothering" the employees by bring my dog to them. The last groomer (Stacy) on 8/24/2014 was last straw for me! She was rude, overcharged and did a HORRIBLE job! I know our little Yorkie can be a drama queen but this little dog hid in her crate for hours. When she finally slinked out of her crate, the look on her face was pure embarrassment. This dong somehow knew she looked ridiculous, thankfully its Summer and she will grow out. Our family will still shop at the store but we are done with the grooming department. read more

Overall: My gut feeling is that this is not a nice place This place feels worse than Petsmart (is that possible?) We have been here twice, first time to look at what kitty litter they had to offer (before we got our little-un) and second time was to see what kitten food they had after that pet food recall. It just is weird in here, dark and dingy, even the place smells - ok, I will say it, it smells like a load of animals stuck into a shop. Yes, theoretically it is that, but it doesn't bode well. It does a good selection of most items, such as food, toys, litter and other accessories. However, their customer service is NOT great. I personally don't like this place - I think it's just a weird gut feeling. I have no need to be going back as we now buy our kitty food from Wholefoods during our weekly shop. read more

I have no words for the absolutely Horrible behavior of the grooming staff!!!!! Our appointment was dropped with no notice or explanation, they gave our appointment away to another client without explanation. After talking to a manager (who never denied our appointment was given away) he did nothing but said we where problem costumers and he could see it in our file. By problem costumes he means there was one complaint in our file because 5 years ago at another location I ask their groomer to stop violating pulling my dog by her tail. She then threatened to shave my dogs tail if I continued to complain (last time I ever went to that location). So here we are 5 years latter and they are using the fact that I stood up against them abusing my dog as justification when called out on their shady behavior. read more

I too had a horrible, very bad experience here, well my Labradoodle did. She was SHAVED and had many SKIN CUTS/NICKS. When called the manager when picking her up, i as told "you signed off on cutting mats". She has been severely traumatized and I believe they were cruel in their treatment of her. I had to take her to the vet for the injured ear tips that may not grow hair again. My advice: RUN do not WALK away from the groomers at this site. I've purchased through Petco for years, but never had to call in to customer service. Recently I moved and shortly after the move I placed an order online. I had issues with the website being sluggish and with it keeping my information -should have been my red flag, but I continued on anyway. After calling into customer service I was on hold for 20 minutes before a rep was available. Once the rep did come on the line she was rude, cut me off after she asked me a question. Making it impossible for me to answer her with the correct information. I eventually had to cut her off so she had the correct info to fix the order. The above situation along with horrible experiences with the dog trainers has reminded me why large corporations are not my style. Overall: This has probably cured me from shopping online or at a Petco store. I'll be shopping local. read more

Easily the worst pet store ever. Almost all the animals they sell are either sick or dead. Today I went in and like any other day I found so many reptiles with horrible cases of metabolic bone disease as well as the bearded dragons being skin and bones. One could not even open its eyes ( I saw him trying) also I have bought 2 animals from Petco both dying within months because of sickness they both came with them when I purchased them. Petco is truly a horrible place :( I wish it wasn't this way but it can't go on like this. Petco is blatantly abusing their animals. Every time I go I always see dead or sick animals. Took my dog here because our usual Petco had no available appointment. I usually get a bath and brush and sanitary shave and leg hair trim. I tried to show the groomer there what I needed and she kept saying she has it in her records from the other Petco and didn't pay much attention to me. Then she shaves my dog down to his undercoat all over. I was so mad when I saw him. Complained to the supervisor who also could not care less. They just refunded me the cost of the grooming. I told them if his coat doesn't grow back they are responsible and they said"uha". I just called our usual Petco to book a grooming appointment and the person told me the pervious groomer has put a note in our records not to provide service for my dog. That he bites and does not like to be groomed!!!! Instead of admitting their mistake and taking responsibility, they are blaming the poor dog who was subjected to their treatment. This is a convenient location for me as I tend to shop in the Target/Trader Joe's area regularly -- it's the main reason I go here. I do like the fact that it's about half the size of the PetSmart and so I spend a lot less time trying to find stuff that I need for our cat. What I don't like is that they don't have a consistent stock of canned senior/mature food in the 5 oz. size. Sometimes they have every flavor of every brand. Other times, there will be less than a dozen cans (I like to purchase a case at a time so I'm looking for 24 cans) of one brand in a single flavor and nothing else in senior/mature from any of the non-organic companies. I don't understand how it should be so hard to keep a decent inventory... I like that when I purchase Petco stuff either in the store or on-line and use my PetPerks card, I earn a percentage back and receive a coupon quarterly to use in-store. I also like that I can purchase online through a rebate site and get a percentage back AND still earn the PetPerk points! The other thing, and this is truly petty but in the world where we try to save trees, their receipts stand out as being truly ridiculous. They can't put 12X $1 for a dozen cans of the exact same cat food. They have to input 12 lines of 1X $1 each. The receipt for an open case of cat food with half of one flavor and half of another is about as long as my arm. Totally unnecessary and a waste of paper and ink! Their software could really use an update! Otherwise, I'll continue to go there but I will continue to plan ahead so I have a least a week's worth of food available at home -- it's iffy whether I'll be able to get more or not on my first try and the cat is picky about going hungry! read more

Fish/aquarium only review: One of the big myths that you read on aquaria forums is that bigbox pet stores have dirty water, that they have diseased fish or that they have ignorant employees. I've visited this Petco many times and I've found that: 1) Most of the aquaria employees own fish themselves and they are quite knowledgeable, one notable individual going as far as spending a lot of time explaining certain filters to me. In fact, more helpful and knowledgeable than the most LFS (local fish store) owners themselves, because these Petco employees are enthusiasts whereas the LFS owners need to sell you stuff. 2) Their filtration system is quite good. I had one of them show me and I was quite satisfied that the capacity of the system was more than enough for the fish load and to keep the water clean and the fish healthy. Each stand of tanks had a total capacity of about 200 gallons but their biosystem was good for 500 gallons. 3) I've observed the employees cleaning the tanks almost every other time I go there. That's a lot of time spent cleaning the tanks, in fact, more than I do. 4) All the bigbox stores have fish guarantees whereas the LFS don't. I can understand that as the bigbox stores don't carry a lot of expensive fish and they probably make much money selling you accessories rather than fish. The ironic thing is that I'm generally against bigbox stores of all kinds and would rather see local stores succeed but I would have to say that for your run of the mill fish, bigbox is the best place to go. I give this particular Petco full marks for the cleanliness of their water and the friendliness and knowledge of their employees. read more

Love the grooming salon here!! I have a havanese puppy who is not the easiest to groom just because you have to clip in a havanese style so they don't look freakish and weird (it's happened before!). The guys at Petco do a great job and it's not too expensive. They were wonderful when I took my aging chihuahua in for a bath. He was old and cranky but they did a great job with him. Sadly he recently passed away but I can't say enough about the caring staff at the Issaquah Petco. read more

The Issaquah Petco store is great with friendly staff but the GROOMING department is horrible and drops the rating score. I started going there a few years ago and I lucked out and the groomer did a superb job. I made sure to always have her groom my dogs and was disappointed when she transferred to a different Petco much farther away. I tried numerous groomers at the Issaquah Petco but they charged me for services that they did not perform. Many small dogs need their glands expressed or you will have a dog that scoots non stop. I finally had enough and drove to the other location where the excellent groomer had transferred. My dogs were groomed properly and all was well. Sadly, she decided to change careers and I was without a competent groomer one again. I did try quite a few groomers at the Issaquah location since it had been awhile but it seems they are even worse if that is possible. I have 2 dogs and I pay extra to have them groomed. When I pick them up after being "professionally groomed" they are damp, unbrushed , covered with loose fur, jagged nails despite spending extra money and my dogs immediately started scooting. I will never bring my dogs there. It is rare to see the same groomer there and it seems like my dogs are not treated well since they are way more stressed and upset than they normally are after being groomed. read more

I brought my Jack Russel/Chihauha mix to the grooming salon to get his nails trimmed. We've brought him here many times before and up until now have been happy with the experience. I checked him in, showed the girl his latest vaccine record and left him there while I went into the store part to buy dog food. When I came back it was chaos and trauma! My dog was bleeding and she was unable to control him and yelling at him. She then started screaming at me that there is something wrong with my dog and he doesn't like to have his nails trimmed - what dog does? And how inappropriate to be screaming at a customer. Then my dog was running around, terrified and bleeding all over and she kept grabbing at him to "try and stop the bleeding". Once he got close to me I scooped him up by the harness he was wearing and held him while she applied sawdust to every paw exept the bleeding one because apparently she couldn't tell where he was bleeding from. All this time she was still screaming at me. I stated that we had brought him there many times before without a problem. Isn't this what they're trained to do? Groom pets? Yikes! She will never groom my dog again. I will partially blame myself for bringing my dog to a commercial grooming salon such as this and will find a true groomer who is appropriately trained. read more

For Fish/Aquarium Department only. I find that the employees at this particular Petco store are extremely knowledgeable and friendly and are willing to help you find the most accurate information. I went to this store once when my family is at Ross and Target, and must I tell you, i was very satisfied with the experience. I was picking out some plants for my fish tank, and the employess there showed me which was the best type for my tank, and they seem to know what they are talking about. They do not seem annoyed at all when I ask them to do things for me, and when they don't know something, they'll get somebody who knows to tell me the accurate information, not spilling out incorrect information. Overall, the employess here are very good. The ONLY reason why I only gave them a 4 instead of 5, is because of their small selection of fish compared to other pet stores. I would definitely revisit this store soon. *Note: if you are planning on buying betta fish, this is the place to be, since they have some of the most betta fish i've seen, the cups the fish are in are bigger than the ones at Petsmart, and the fish seem MUCH more healthy and active than the ones at Petsmart. read more

I will NEVER go to the grooming salon here again. I had a bath and brush 2:00 appointment for my 2 dogs - one a shepherd and the other a lab. When I called at 4:00 to see if they were ready, I was told that it would be another 3 HOURS! They gave an excuse that they forgot that one of the groomers had an hour lunch. I called at 7:00 and was told they were still not ready and would I be interested in taking one home and bringing him back the next day. I said no - they were ready after 7:30. They were there for 5.5 hours without a bathroom break. I doubt they had water, based on how thirsty they were when I got them home. I also paid extra for a bath that was supposed to release the undercoat hair and they said they would give a thorough brushing. When I got them, they were still shedding hair. Also, their nails were not trimmed and I doubt the ears were cleaned as promised. Very poor service. read more

Awesome customer service, mostly friendly employees, and whoever does orders for the animals there is awesome! Sometimes there is a kinda condescending aquatics specialist but that's common in pet stores nowadays. Other aquatics specialists who've helped me are very friendly, informative (not in an in-your-face way), and make good conversation which is always a plus! I guess it is because they may be a little understaffed but crickets take a very long time for a small amount but overall, very happy to come here and will drive out the extra 10 minutes to go here instead of the one closer to me when it comes to getting a new pet read more
