When I spoke with Manny, he explained there were only two available time slots on Saturdays: 9 AM-3 PM and 5 PM-2 AM. Since it's a kids' party, I asked if we could start at 2 PM. Manny assured me it wouldn't be an issue, as no one had booked that date, and I was planning to reserve the full 8-hour slot. Great! Another concern I had was whether I could bring in a bounce house, something they typically don't allow. Manny promised to check with his insurance and later confirmed it was approved. So far, so good. However, scheduling a tour of the venue became a challenge because I'm a full-time working single mom, and none of their proposed times fit my schedule. Eventually, Manny worked something out, and I was able to see the space. During the tour, I found out--for the first time--that if I had alcohol on the premises, there would be additional costs: either I would need to pay $600 for their security or bartender, hire my own, or risk having my guests turned away. This was never mentioned before, and I was shocked! Even if alcohol was in a guest's cup, they required the extra fee because they don't have the proper license. Despite this surprise expense, I was still willing to move forward and book the venue. Then, I received a text from Manny saying they couldn't rent me the venue on Saturday after all, and I'd need to book a Sunday instead. I immediately texted him back, explaining that Sunday wouldn't work for me and reminding him of his earlier promise to accommodate the 26th. I tried calling him multiple times, but every call went straight to voicemail, and he only responded via text. I asked if he could call to discuss things directly, but he refused, saying it was better to keep everything in writing. I found this incredibly unprofessional and told him that. Manny then informed me that they wouldn't rent to me anymore because he felt I couldn't be satisfied! Overall, this venue is nice but overpriced for such a small space, and the management's lack of professionalism and poor customer service ruined the experience. I'm so disappointed and now scrambling to find another venue because of their inability to follow through on their commitments. UPDATES!!!!! When you realized I was Black, you denied me service! Go ahead and share the text messages. As I mentioned before, I prefer a phone conversation because text messages can often lead to misunderstandings. Yes, you agreed to honor the time, but then you followed up with a summary that listed the wrong date! So please, post the messages. I appreciate you looking into the availability of the bounce house, but I wasn't aware of the alcohol policy. No, I didn't think I needed to ask or pay extra just because I had wine in my personal cup. Still, I was planning to book regardless. It would have been better if this had been discussed instead of you jumping to conclusions! Your behavior has been highly unprofessional. I reached out for clarification, but instead of responding, you sent me directly to voicemail and ignored my efforts to establish clear communication! These people are crooks and scammers…read more I was just a guest at the wedding and my wallet went missing at the wedding. The manager found my ID card and credits cards but instead of returning the items, they decided to discuss an unpaid invoice for the wedding with me. I was so confused as to why on earth they were discussing this invoice with me. The manager implied that my belongings couldn't be returned unless the invoicr was paid. I ended up calling the cops to get them to agree to return my items and when I went to pick them up, the manager (Lidia) handed me a phone with the owner on the other side who kept talking about this unpaid invoice. I kept telling him and her that I was just a guest and had nothing to do with this invoice but they kept demanding that this invoice be paid. I ended up calling the cops again and then finally the manager returned my items. I would never attend another wedding at this venue or ever book with them.

I've gone to their Latin events, and here's what it looks like: They have in-house instructors, and also bring in people from outside Houston. (I wrote about California's Kathy Reyes in two prior reviews, I hope she's reading this and makes the trip to Houston some time!) They have classes, and they have dance parties. Both are run well, charging market rates. Lots of parking. One medium-sized dance floor, two smaller studios. The bar sells drinks, both alky and non-alky. Restrooms are deep in the bowels of the building, down the hall to the left. The people who come are a good company, and are fixinta learn to dance better and to have fun. The social dance community of Houston is smaller than in other cities, so there's much overlap from one instructor to another, and it's likely that you'll meet someone there who you danced with somewhere else. I haven't met any snobs yet, but you can't assume that they won't be there. I first went to the Palladium for New Years Eve. I've been several times since then. The experience was similar to others I've been to in other cities. I've had a good time, and never drove home thinking "well, that was a waste of a hundred mile drive one-way." Beaumont simply has nothing like The Palladium, likely because few people in the Coonie Triangle are interested in ballroom or Latin dancing. I encourage you to find a class or party and stop on by.

The pro shop generally has a good selection of equipment and clothing, and members get 20% off on clothes. Sports like pickleball and tennis are available. Also, groups that play games like mahjong and poker meet here to play. The main restaurant, the Red Wolf Bar & Grille, has many choices with a seasonal menu and monthly drink specials. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive, and if you buy the X-Life add-on to your membership, it's well worth it if you eat at the restaurant at least a few times per month. Special weekly events, like Tasting Tuesdays and Pasta Night on Thursdays, add variety by offering items not on the regular menu. The outdoor restaurant, the Tourn, often has live music and other events. If you live in the area, especially within in Hearthstone or surrounding neighborhoods, Hearthstone Country Club is a great place for activities with family and friends.
