Place is absolute gross. Food quality is so so poor. Think nursing home or prison. The worst cheapest quality bread, sad cheap ingredients. The cheese is "processed cheese product" and looks like government rations. The place is tiny with as few booths but somehow it's still dirty - sticky table, unswept, etc. And flies everywhere - like 10+ flies buzzing around you, your food, and the food behind the counter. The bathroom was nasty, person making my sandwich coughing up a lung into my food with no mask on and barely spoke to me during the interaction. On top of that the prices were same as Jersey Mike's which is about 50x better than thise place in all respects. The quality of food this place is using my sub these bulk orders of cheapest ingredients possible means my sub probably cost them 15 cents to make. How they're charging and people are paying like $10 for a sub here? Wild. read more

LoveD Pickel Barrel in the past, but not so much after this visit. Had crab salad, which is still delicious, and the bread is very fresh, but the portion was very disappointing for the price of the sandwich. I, basically, had a bread sandwich with a bit of crab. Middle of the road for me, they offer a wide variety for meat and style of subs. They only had two choices of bread and had decent amount of toppings. It's a sub I'd be okay with eating if I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. It's decent enough overall, but wouldn't say much stands out here. read more

I will never order purchase anything from this store ever again. We ordered 3 meals from here, and on 2 of the meals they forgot the chips. Fine. Called them to tell them and the lady said she'd have to run the chips back. 2 minutes later I unpack my sub, and realize there is ZERO veggies on this sub. Keep in mind I ordered "the super deluxe" in which is advertised "we don't leave a thing out" when I called the lady even asked me to make sure I wanted every veggie on my sub, I told her I did. So when I called back and told them the lady very rudely told me she would send a driver with the veggies in a bag. I just paid 10.75 (for the one sub alone) and she wants ME to make my sub. When we asked if she could just remake the sandwich she said "well I'm not going to remake the whole sandwich just because I forgot the veggies." It's not like she forgot to put pickles on my sub. She forgot EVERY SINGLE VEGETABLE THAT I ORDERED. Oh and they never ended up showing up to deliver our chips. This was an hour ago. Extremely mad. Never again. read more

My family and I ordered dinner and got three subs. My fiancé ordered the super deluxe sub. It shows on the menu it comes with all the veggies,meat, and cheeses. When the sub came there were no veggies on the sub. My sons kids meal did not come with the chips I ordered and my chips were missing as well. It look almost an hour for the food to arrive. When I called it was first in regards to the chips missing, she said they would send the driver back. After I hung up my fiancé informed me about the veggies missing from his sandwich so I called again and was rudely told that she was the one who messed up the order and would put the veggies in a container and send them with the chips. At that point I asked her why she wouldn't just make a new one and she was very rude and said 'I am not going to make you a new sandwich when all I forgot was the veggies' my fiancé grew angry and took the phone saying that a $10 sub should not be prepared by him when that's what he's paying for. He told her to forget it and hung up. I am very very very disappointed in this whole experience. I used to love pickle barrel but I do not feel I will be back, I can not believe we were treated that way. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I ordered food for my entire family (5 subs) get to the register for them to tell me their credit card machine is down. Now I get it this happens, you can't control when the internet goes down etc. but this is the second time in the last month this has happened to me and I don't carry cash. You can't put a sign on the door or tell people right as you're making my sub that you are only accepting cash? Go to subway on JFK, they actually carry about their customers. read more

This is my go to place for subs in Dubuque and have never been disappointed, their bread is so fresh and made daily! I just ordered subs for my family and all were so tasty, made exactly to order! The credit card machine works!!! They also have party platters and I had them for a graduation party and they were delicious and one of the first things to be gobbled up! They deliver too! read more
