So I was pleasantly surprised of how organized this place was. My son hit a curb the other day while driving. He needed a replacement wheel rim so a friend suggested we go here to find one. When we pulled up it wasn't extremely busy but soon did become packed with pickers. The place is organized by cars and has signs indicating where are the models are. There are plenty of vehicles to pick from. Everyone was also nice. We didn't understand the mechanism to take the tire off and some guy came up and showed us plus helped us get it off. It was a good experience. I would recommend this place over getting this new. You can get a replacement part at a bargain. Would recommend. You will spend some time looking through the various car parts. There is a small admission fee, they offer warranty, and prices are very reasonable for what you collect. We arrived at the establishment and presented our military IDs, the individual was nice and said "I'm going to go ahead and flag your account so that way when you check out, they'll know to apply your military discount." I thanked her and said we really appreciate that and she proceeded to let us know that we had until 530 to be in the establishment and we went on our way. Upon checking out we asked why the military discount wasn't applied since the lady said it would be flagged. The extremely rude young man with all the cheap a$$ jewelry then proceeded to argue with us about what the woman said. When we reiterated that's what she said, he said" no she didn't," and we went back and forth a couple times and he turns to the heifer at the counter who then lied and said "I just told them they could get a discount." Why would you take the time to say "I flagged your account so they'll know when you check out" instead of just saying "be sure to mention it when you check out." Like, what was the point of wasting the time? Maybe it's so they don't have to give you the discount? Seems like an inside trick to me. If this is how they're gonna treat veterans who fight for this country and risk their lives, maybe this is an establishment you don't want to invest in. The best way to get and keep repeat customers is to honor the discount you say you're going to offer...make it right by not arguing with the customer and offering to apply a credit as soon as the mistake was realized instead of just being rude and condescending, so I'll probably never come back here and I will tell everyone I know what a shitty establishment this place is and refer them to Wrench a Part from now on. At least both of the Wrench A Part locations in San Antonio were clean, relatively organized, and not some sort of biohazard minefield that looks like it doubles as a rage room. Good luck trying to get a cart or engine puller around this place unless you spend an hour clearing a path. read more

After making me jump through every hoop imaginable they failed to show up or even call both times.Then when i could finally reach them they wanted to schedule me again but for a week later. Although I didn't find the part I was looking for, I have to say the experience was pretty good! Was in search for a part for my 2008 Eclipse. They had a total of 9 Eclipses (2006-2012) in their yard. Probably the biggest selection of this car available in San Antonio. I called 2 other places and while they did have Eclipses in stock, they only had about 3-5. I believe they charge a $1 fee to enter the lot. Very easy to navigate through their lot. They will print you a paper with all available models of the car you request, and the paper will tell you what row the car is, as well as the color, trim, and year. They also have very large signs that will show the emblem and or name of different car brands. This makes it easy to find where your specific vehicle would be. Everything is self service, so you can go inside with your own set of tools to pull just about anything that's on the cars there. For me personally, there's just something so fascinating about seeing totaled or abandoned vehicles all in one spot. The best part is; everything is up for grabs. read more

I love to buy crappy cars and make them suck less, yes I do. I am also not filthy rich, so I can't let this hobby of mine break the bank. So what do I do? I get up early and drive my butt to Pick-N-Pull to salvage parts off their inventory. You can check their website beforehand to see if they have the vehicle you're looking for in inventory and what row it is in. Trust me, you're going to want to get the row number. The selection is ok, at least for light duty trucks. Lots of Fords and Toyotas. Don't expect to find an engine or a transmission. If they are decent, they are pulled right off and sold. This goes for pretty much any car yard! The yard is pretty big. Be prepared to walk a ways with your tool bag. They do offer a free shuttle that drives around the yard every so often if you're willing to wait for it. Your bag will be checked for parts which you are not allowed to bring in. It's a car yard. It's dirty. It's dangerous. You get to see the beauty in salvage and you do your part not letting these old vehicles go to waste. I love it. read more

Upon entering the business I was amazed to see how many cars with hopes to find what I was looking for. However when I got to the actual entrance to go pick and pull the front ladies lacked customer service so badly. Why am I waiting on them to finish a non work related conversation just for them to stop and look at me like I'm interrupting something so serious that needed to be talked about then and there. Is anyone reviewing Yelp before choosing a do-it-yourself junk yard? I doubt it. So why would anyone write a Yelp review for Pick n Pull? For the free T-shirt of course. But since I took the shirt, I figured I might as well write a proper review. Pick n Pull is a mixed bag depending on what you're looking for. They have a massive selection of vehicles and a pretty respectable turnover rate. This visit was to harvest some Ford Super Duty wiring harness components to replace what a vandalous squirrel chewed up under my hood. Who else is going to let you pick apart a wiring harness for a few bucks worth of components? Pretty much no other yard. I've done the same for my old Jeep and loaded up on figurative gold in OEM electrical components. There is something primordial about being able to walk the yard and just take whatever you want without concern for what's left behind... Need OEM bolts, screws, switches, bulbs, fuses, jacks, etc? Pick n Pull's got 'em at bargain prices. The Super Duty pickings are relatively slim, but enough for what I needed. Diesel Super Duty's are very rare with only one on the yard, but that was just enough. For $20 I was able to repair the damage and have some extras, which turned out to be a good idea since the little bastard came back and chewed up one of the repaired wires again. As others have said in so many words, Pick n Pull is not for the squeamish. It's crude, dirty, and potentially dangerous. But then, does anyone know of any refined, clean, and child-proofed junkyards? If that's your expectation you probably should just pay someone else to fix your car for you so you don't get icky stuff under your fingernails. However, if you're not a pu$$y who is expecting a sanitized reality and a comfy safety net, come on in. You signed a liability waiver at the entrance so pay attention to what you're doing and man-up to savor Flavor Country. I've found the staff to be just fine. They aren't going to treat you with kid gloves and they aren't going to do any of the work for you, but they are reasonably professional about it. Note that in the title of the place, "Pick n Pull", there is an implied "you", as in (You) Pick n Pull. I have found the staff to be direct and to the point, fair on the pricing, and they know where most everything is. Better ask in advance if it's anything major though. Some items cost about the same at full service yards and they have already done the work of pulling it for you, and sometimes that's a lot of work. To the eco-concerned: This is the end of the life cycle for all but the luckiest of automobiles; they're born, they live and serve their purpose, they get old, and then they die. Just like us, except a dead car has value. This is recycling in its pure form as 90% of a car will be reborn as something other than garbage, and without your tax dollars subsidizing it. Now that's organic man! ...and no hippies required. Guess how much of what you throw in your recycling bin at home is actually recycled vice quietly going to the dump? A lot less than 90%, and that number is precipitously falling in recent years. I'll take the junk yard over the garbage dump. Take part by taking a part. read more

Auto salvage yard! Pick-N-Pull is a large salvage yard on San Antonio's south side. This is a place where if you need an old part for your car, don't care what it looks like, you can go out and tear it off of your car on your own. They have a website that shows the make/model and year of all the cars in their inventory. However, it just says that it's there, not what it has, what kind of condition it's in, or what it still has on it. When you show up, they charge you one hundred pennies to get in as an admission charge. Then, you are free to wander the lot with your own tools tearing off anything from any car you want. I went to get license plates once. I spent hours wandering around the yard looking for out of state plates for a project I was working on. After spending hours on the hunt, I presented them to the clerk for payment, and they took them away from me, saying they didn't want to sell them. I've also gone out here looking for parts, after confirming that they had the type of vehicle I was searching for. I got there, and found that the vehicle was a heap of metal scraps, with nothing much salvageable on it. Expect zero assistance from the employees here. Nothing is priced, it's up to the whims of the clerk at the entrance/exit to decide how much to charge you. This place is also an environmental disaster. There's pools of used motor oil on the ground, and fluids leaking from the cars onto the ground and into our water system. read more

My name is Abraham. On Monday 19, l visited your place. I love to go there! I don't visit often though. I do want to write this experience wich l think, it had the potential to had been fatal. I'm not blaming nobody! It was poor planning on my side. I was at the end of the yard, where the chevy trucks are. It was around 3:00, the temperature was 104, it felt like 117, l run out of water, l only took 2 bottles. I should have taken at least a gallon. Anyway, l decided to head to the exit, not tired but, very thirsty. Walking by the fence where there was a little bit of shade, l sat on a tire to rest.there, it came to my mind to call the office and ask for help. I checked my bag for my phone, l didn't find it. I went back about 2 blocks looking for my cellular. It was there! Immediately, l called for help!! I told them where l was. The lady that answered the phone told me to walk to the nearest ally , that way, l would pick up right away. She said she didn't have anybody to help me out. Having no alternatives, l kept walking towards the exit. Fortunately, l barely made it back!! I'm 70, in great physical shape but, that heat without water almost proved to be too much. When l got the shade, l couldn't get water out of the soda machine. A black man walked by and begged him for water, rapidly, he got me a cold bottle of water! I feel he saved me!! Please!
