Upon entering for my appointment the two gals that I engaged with were very welcoming. I believe the gal that checked me in was Megan and the other gal I forget her name but she has red hair with cute bangs in a ponytail who was letting me know not to worry about the hour parking in front of the salon. My advice to those new to the salon is to get there early as parking is limited in the front and the ample parking would be across the street or in the residential area. Now let me get to my stylist who wow'ed me. This was my second time around with this stylist. Backstory I met Shawn Babauta at JCPenny as I went in to get a haircut and she mentioned she was moving to Dolce Salon which was the best decision she made as well as for Dolce Salon to add an amazing stylist to their team. Shawn is so talented and the thing I love about Shawn when I first met her was she listened to what my concerns were and what my inspiration was. Also Shawn gives good feedback on styles that compliment your face and how much work a certain style would be for example bangs. That's a plus for me because not many stylists listen or give you that type of feedback. When it comes to a long term stylist I feel that not only are their talents a plus but also vibing with them is important. (And I paid over $300+) It was difficult to see in the salon lighting, but once I got home a few days later, I noticed quite a few grays still very visible. I reached out to let her know. Since I was in the process of moving, it wasn't feasible for me to come back in right away, but I was hoping we could discuss an alternative solution once I got settled or explore some form of help given I wouldn't have the time to come in right away. Instead, I was sent a link to purchase a gray touch-up stick from the salon. That response was disappointing and, in my opinion, not reflective of a professional resolution to a service concern. Clear consultation, and follow-through are essential in this industry, especially when it comes to gray coverage, which requires intention and attention to detail. If something cannot be fully achieved during an appointment, it should be communicated transparently with realistic expectations and options discussed in advance. I hope this feedback is taken as an opportunity to refine consultation practices and client care. Growth comes from listening and improving, not from becoming defensive, rude, or passive-aggressive. I truly wish her the best and hope she uses this as a learning experience. Not one, two, or three times but as your company wants. Got it! My concern is that, regardless of whether the consultation was free, I still secured my appointment as requested with a credit card and set aside my time in good faith. From a client's perspective, a scheduled appointment is still a commitment, and repeated last-minute changes make it feel as though the client's time is less valued. If the situation were reversed and I had made multiple same-day changes or cancellations, I would have been subject to a fee. That difference in expectations is what I found frustrating and ultimately led to my decision to cancel. This is not about the consultation itself, but about mutual respect for time and consistency in how scheduling policies are applied.
