Vernon Avenue in Clontarf is home to lots of lovely restaurants and coffee shops so you're pretty spoiled for choice if you're looking for a feed around the area. Not having eaten in an Italian restaurant in what seemed like forever we decided to give Picasso on the corner facing the strand a go, especially as the Early Bird was still running and seemed like really good value at €22.95 for two courses. The restaurant is on two levels and we were seated upstairs, though downstairs did seem cosier and decorated much nicer; the upstairs part seemed more like an afterthought in comparison though it is quite spacious. The service was very quick and attentive, and the water for the table was chilled and served with fresh orange and mint which was a nice touch. I had the melanzane formaggio to start and it was served with a lovely rich tomato sauce and plenty of baked cheese, which was mopped up with the contents of the bread basket...delish! The three starters that we had were really generously portioned and each of them were gobbled up as they were mighty tasty. For mains I had the pork belly, served with mash and a rich balsamic sauce. The main courses were accompanied by a platter of gorgeous vegetables to share; potatoes dauphinoise, green beans and broccoli, roast pumpkin and courgettes, peppers and aubergine. The vegetables were delicious and really added to the main course as there was such a variety of them. We also shared a bottle of the house red which was Sicilian and really excellent value at €24 - it was an excellent bottle for the price. There are so many nice restaurants in this neck of the woods, and Picasso can definitely stake its claim amongst them. It was one of the best Italian meals I've had in a long while. Belissimo!

Rude service, unimpressive food and quite overpriced. The waiter even added on a generous "tip" for himself without asking.

Just arrived home from Mulino tonight. I went their with my Wife and two teenage children…read more The place is beautifully decorated and the seating is well spaced out. The chef and staff are very attentive and the service is excellent. I ate from the a la carte menu and the others from the early bird menu. 20 euro for two courses. 23 euro for three course. The kids ordered a generous portion of spicy chicken wings which where delicious. My wife had the Bruschetta which I was eyeing enviously until my Gambretti arrived (tiger prawns in tempura batter). Scrumptious. (I would return for the starter alone) We all enjoyed our starters and I had the rump of beef steak for main. Best steak I've ever had when dining. Simply divine. Huge portion. My wife and daughter had the Penne and my unadventurous son had the Pizza. All really enjoyed their meals and we had no complaints (which is a first with fussy eaters) We all had dessert which had been freshly prepared. I drank a bottle of Chardonnay from the varied list. All in All I had no complaints about this beautiful family restaurant and I cannot wait to return. This quaint family run authentic Italian would suit all types from romantic couples to families and parties. I have at last found my quiet little Italian which I will be visiting on a regular basis from now on.

Arrived here more by accident than by choice- as we were caught on the hop and needed a local…read morerestaurant at short notice-but as it turned out, a very pleasant surprise indeed! its a fairly standard Dublin Italian experience- a mix of steak, pasta and pizza. what made it different was the obvious charm of the owner and staff, a nice mix of specials- and the food, most importantly, was well presented and tasty. Ìt wasn't that busy for a Saturday- there were quite a few empty tables, but a pianist made the room feel full with a lovely mixture of tunes- so it was actually even better, not having to compete with a noisy room! Would I go back?- absolutely- it was a lovely experience and would recommend highly! salut!
