The marinated salmon was our favorite. It was plenty of food for three in my opinion. Looking forward to the next time, but the menu is pricy so special occasion night out kind of place. We went for the 'gourmet' set menu at €23 each for two and did rather well. A main course of half (lengthwise) good sized lobster in a seafood bisque, with rice and squid. A dessert of fruit. All washed down with a nice bottle of cava. A free liqueur / spirit added in for good measure. Service is a bit slow but very friendly. Eating this and hearing the waves breaking on the shore is wonderful. Worth it!

Also, reservations for lunch and dinner are basically a requirement especially daily in the high season and on low season weekends. The best way is to stop by in person a few days in advance. Where's the best paella in Sitges? Quite possibly right here at Bon Estar. Whenever we come to Sitges we almost make a pilgrimage to Bon Estar to partake in their famous and fabulous Paella Marinera, Seafood Paella. Also unique and delicious is Arroz negro con Sépia y Almejas, Black Rice with Cuttlefish and Clams. This trip we went to Bon Estar twice. I tried the Prensado de Cochinillo "Bon Estar 50" which is Roasted Suckling Pig. I'm not sure what the 50 meant and the dish was not what I was expecting, thinking it would be more like a Lechon with crispy skin. Instead it came in a pastry puff shell. Paletina de Codero Asada a Baja Tempuratura, Roast Shoulder of Lamb was nice and tender. As always, the Tiramisu dessert is a highlight. It comes in a jar, and so rich and creamy! Pair it with a Cortado!

We arrived around 7:30 and it was empty. They asked if had a reservation. We didn't but it was empty. There were way too many servers standing at the door for us to be the only guests. The staff came across stuffy at first but eventually loosened up. We had two waiters attend to us and second provided great service. When I ordered the dessert first, our waiter said he had to check if that could be done. They allowed it but I thought it was weird that he had to ask. We ordered the homemade catalan crema (creme brulee) based on their recommendation and it was delicious. Cole had the chocolate coolant and he enjoyed it. We ordered the Paella con mariscos for (2) and that was enough for the three of us. We also ordered (2) portions of bread. The bread order came with a whole tomato and a whole garlic clove unpeeled. I had never been served that way but "when in Rome". I cut that tomatoes, crushed the garlic, added olive oil salt n pepper and made us a little dip for the bread. When paella came out I was surprised that the shellfish did not come with the shell. The flavor of the paella was really good. We squeezed lemon on top and had an enjoyable meal. At the end of the meal our server brought us some cake (pound cake?) and a sweet white wine to put on top. Perfect end to our evening.

The indoor ambiance is nice, with an upscale black tablecloth vibe. Lighting was a bit too harsh for decent indoor photos. Service was prompt and courteous. We shared appetizers which were delicious, especially the croquettes. Unfortunately they were out of my fish entree choice, so I had scallops. The food was good, but nothing that stood out. The place has lots going for it, beach side, clean interior (not my taste in design but that's not the point), friendly British proprietor, street side terrace. Let's start with the important stuff, the food. I had a Caprese salad on two occasions. First time is was really nice, nice enough to go back for another one. This time not so good. During my second visit my partner had a hamburger of which I had a taste and it was really nice. We went back on a different day because we were both in the mood for a hamburger. This time, though nice enough, it wasn't as nice as the first time. Also we waited for over an hour for a simple order if two hamburgers. Others had ordered a lasagna, only to be informed, 15 minutes later, lasagna wasn't on today. The alternative English Breakfast took about 45min to appear on their table. It was the size of an airplane meal so why it too that long is a mystery to me. The sangria was very nice! But after ordering a second round we had to wait quite a bit for a simple drink (just pour it from a jug and bring it over). We were actually rather surprised that it even arrived before we decided it was time to move on. They have a small menu so you'd expect the food quality to be very consistent and the wait wouldn't be too long. Neither were the case. There were no abnormalities to account for the long waits, like extremely busy (only four tables occupied). Good thing we weren't on any kind of schedule as we for sure would not have been able to keep it. This place has enough positive points to get a higher rating, if only more effort was put into it.
