They seem to consistently overprice their merchandise, but in erratic ways. The store does feel a little museum'ish. The staff is nice and helpful, but something about the store doesn't really promote browsing or trying the guitars/amps. But hey, I'm glad their part of the landscape of music stores here in the Twin Cities. Certainly better to have them than be without.

Additionaly, they have some unique gems such as National, Dobro and Gretsch. American Guitar Boutique pride themselves on all of their teachers having music degrees, something unique in the area and, in my opinion, necessary for the student who truly wants to understand music, not just play guitar. So why the 1 star review? Customer Service. I have called several times to arrange lessons. I even went in and bought some accessories to try and track down a time for a lesson. After having a conversation with Adam, their education director prior to the Christmas holiday, you would think that this would be a straightforward process. It has not been. I have tried to follow up after the new year with no resolution. I called 2 weeks ago and have not received a follow up call regarding setting up a lesson. Why would I buy a guitar from someone who can't even sell me guitar lessons?

We got some time there before all the crowds arrived: after our first hour there, it started to get busy. I will say: this is borderline for 4yos. He was quite scared of how big the slides were so we didn't ride them until the second half of our time. You know your child best: if you think they might be scared, this probably isn't a good fit! The slides are REALLY tall - lots of stairs so be prepared! You have to buy the grippy socks they sell, you have to slide down face first on your stomach alone. Important to note that you won't be able to slide *with* your child if they're scared. I learned that if you as the adult aren't riding the slides, you don't have to buy a pass. That would make a huge difference and we'll skip the adult ticket next time! They have some stuff for kids under 4: a play area mainly. But again, better for older kids. Besides slides, they also have an arcade, bouncy ball courts, a zipline, and a swing into a foam pit. But definitely the highlight is the slides - they are quite a thrill! Best for adventurous and thrill-seeking kids!

There is a toddler play area and a big net to climb. The area is very clean. There is food options available and lots of seats throughout. It definitely seems to be the majority of big kids but our little one did just fine. There's an arcade area, but that requires that you pay Extra. You do need to buy their socks to participate. If you are a spectator. You do not need to pay.
