With Michael as my music/guitar instructor, my musical tastes have completely exploded so that I now totally enjoy and play classical pieces(Bach, Mozart, Carcassi), Country(Johnny Cash, etc), all classic rock(including all AC/DC!!). I have learned how to practice, what to practice, and how to have fun and really want to practice, from ground up. I have learned all the Modes, harmonic and pentatonic scales, how to finger pick, how to play rhythm, how to solo, how to actually read music, and how to appreciate the guitar and music as an fulfilling journey each step of the way. As a music instructor Michael has a customized game plan specifically for each individual student. He has a great sense of humor, has tremendous patience, and is easy to talk to. He is an extremely skilled and devote guitar player and working musician. His lessons are a great value. He is very flexible with lesson times and each hour is start to finish guitar. There is zero waste of time. Michael is serious about the guitar as a voice and now so am I. I absolutely recommend Michael as a music/guitar instructor. He has opened my eyes to a whole new exciting world.

I started off as a novice guitarist and saw huge improvements in both my creativity and ability to play more difficult pieces of music.

If you are just starting or looking for a refresher he can teach you theory in a easy to understand manor and give you fun exercises to practice until your next meeting. Each week building off of what you learned, giving you more tricks up your sleeve to be able to improvise and effectively create your own music. The theory portion is where you'll usually get stuck in with the majority of instructors. But, with Dan, there is more to be had. After that foundation is learned is when it starts to get really fun. Dan not only has a vast library of digital music tabs which a student can learn how to play along to their favorite songs by artists; he also has equipment and software that a student, with Dan's help, can create and learn how to form songs out of nothing. Gaining additional valuable knowledge that goes hand in hand with playing guitar. I've had instructors in the past who were hard to talk to, awkward or made me feel uncomfortable when trying to learn. I never felt that way taking lessons from Dan. He is extremely easygoing, personable, patient, talented and well versed on all kinds of music, new or old. You will feel comfortable from the start, as Dan will figure out what your interests are and tailor your lessons to cater them. He is not the kind of instructor that will try to force feed you a genre you are not into. I can honestly say he has shaped the way I view music. Not only can i figure out songs by ear most of the time, I am able to pick apart each instrument while listening to songs and have a better appreciation to the effort musicians put into their work. He introduced me to bands as a kid I had never heard of, which all these years later are now my favorites and to this day still enjoy jamming out to. Simply put, look no further, if you are serious about trying guitar lessons, Dan is the man!

Confused, and slightly pissed off: A week before my wedding…read moreI called to ask about rentals, the person I spoke with on the phone was confident in everything I was interested in, and quoted $550 for the rental. He also mentioned that this specific store was well stocked and I didn't need to make a reservation, so I didn't. A week later (two days before my wedding), I go in person to make the actual rental. Here is where things get interesting. They told me they don't usually rent out wireless mics, I needed two of them, they also didn't have the mixing board I wanted (Model-12 with SD Card recording capabilities). Fortunately they were able to pivot and rented me some new gear that worked well, but they charged $700 for the rental, so whoever I spoke with on the phone either wasn't well informed, or didn't calculate the rental properly, either way, the additional $150 ($300 with the deposits) didn't result in customer happiness. They assured me that all of the gear was checked ahead of time, and everything was ready to be used. They also said they would throw in a couple extra XLRs Incase anything wasn't correct. This was not the case. I should have counted the XLRs because I thought I was renting 10, and there were only 9 in the package, and to top it off, 3 of them didn't work. The band had to literally drive into town and buy 4 additional XLRs. This is unacceptable, and one of the main reasons why I'm writing this review. Not to get petty, but the batteries were also dead in the wireless lav mic, and one of the four mic stands (see photo) was broken. Again, Unacceptable. Other than that, the sound was great, and the wedding was incredible. Okay, after the wedding, I go back and drop off the rental. I explain all of these issues and they say "oh sorry about that", then I ask "what can be done to protect the customer from this happening? You have rental insurance to protect the gear, but is there not any security or compensation to the customer if the gear doesn't work?" ... then they took off an additional $50, which is fine and all, but doesn't even cover the additional expenses of the 4 new XLRs or batteries I had to buy. Kind of a long story, but all in all, seems like there are some systemic things that need to be worked on, specifically in the gear checking, and customer guarantee areas.
