I was recovering from right shoulder surgery and not progressing in physical therapy. I had a very good therapist whom I'd used twice before (knee, other shoulder), so I was perplexed. My friend Ronnie suggested I see a chiropractor she'd had success with and I said I didn't think this was a problem a chiropractor could solve. She said maybe not, but suggested strongly that I at least consult with him. That's how I met Dr. Rudy Gehrman. I found Rudy to be an intelligent, welcoming, smiling, adorable man who treated me with kindness and respect. He listened, suggested, advised, commiserated, but didn't push, or insist. He told me that my lack of progress was due to scar tissue (I knew that) and he could probably snap the bands that were preventing me from moving my arm above should level, however, the process would be quite painful. My surgeon had suggested "putting me on the table again" to cut the bands of scar tissue, but I didn't want to do that unless it was absolutely necessary. I also knew that scar tissue can grow back. Physical therapy had been quite painful, so Rudy's admonition didn't scare me. I decided to go ahead. It wasn't a picnic, but it also wasn't nearly as painful as physical therapy had been. I continued with physical therapy while Rudy was treating me just to hedge my bet, however that proved unnecessary. It took a while, but Rudy snapped all but two bands (we think) of scar tissue and I was able to raise my arm above my shoulder. This was a critical juncture as my right side is dominant. Those were my early days with Rudy. It was a medium sized practice that included a variety of other complimentary services provided by various other professionals. As time moved forward, I had other requirements including physical therapy for my knee. Rudy suggested I consult with Jeanine Robotti, a physical therapist he'd recently hired. I liked her instantly and because she incorporated Pilates into her sessions, I was intrigued. I can say the same things about Jeanine as I've said about Rudy and, again, I'm very pleased with my sessions. I've also received wonderfully therapeutic and relaxing massages from May after each of my physical therapy sessions. Physiologic often combines services to provide the best possible results for their clients. Ask! I haven't met all the people who work at Physiologic and I haven't been able to take advantage of all they offer now, but I have the same opinion about all whom I've met and with whom I've interacted--highly competent , warm, caring and professional. Rudy's wife Linda runs the Pilates operation in addition to other things and you'll find her to be just as expert, concerned and nurturing as everyone else. I sprained my neck about two and a half weeks ago. It created a pinched nerve and I was in terrible pain for a several days. After getting a recommendation to go to Physio Logic, I made an appointment. Best thing I ever could have done. When you walk in, you don't feel like you are at a doctor. The space has warm light and looks clean and inviting. I met with Rudy for my first consultation but I have been working with Stephen ever since (who is equally kind and thorough and helpful). After just two appointments I felt seriously diminished pain and greatly increased mobility. I am still going to appointments and working on getting 100%, but almost every piece of advice from Stephen has helped me recover. Whenever something doesn't work, I tell him and he gives me new strategies and approached to try. They never force you to do things that make you feel uncomfortable or weird, and they have TREMENDOUS respect for how the patient feels. I do NOT like going to the doctor, and now I even look forward to my appointments, because I know that I'm going somewhere with well-trained people who will listen to me and to my body. I am writing this because I'm so grateful for everything that everyone at this office has done for me. Update: 10/10/11: I am pretty much back to normal. Pain is gone and my physical therapy is making me stronger and more aware of how my body works than ever. I've resumed running and managed to run 8 miles today with absolutely no pain or discomfort during or after. As a pregnant woman with previous back and hip issues, I needed some help as the third trimester hit and with preparing for delivery. I've tried other methods but nothing really worked. Physio Logic was recommended to me by another chiropractor who was not able to take me on while pregnant and I am extremely happy to have found them. The treatment is administrated as a whole - every aspect of care they offer is considered when building the plan. I see a chiropractor (Stephen) and a masseuse (Nicole) to help both relieve pain and prepare my body for delivery. Every time I leave I feel better, energized, not as drained as I would usually feel after any other treatment. Much like the environment they work in (like the other reviewers mentioned), the approach to treatment leans on tradition but doesn't ignore the present, combining more modern elements with the well known basics. I'm a physically-active 64 yr. old male, and I've been coming to Physio Logic for years to deal with various injuries I've sustained while running and lifting weights. Dr. Steven has been my go-to therapist, and I can't say enough good things about him. Last March I visited Hawaii, and while there I made an ill-advised jump off a cliff into the Pacific, and instantly dislocated not one, but both of my shoulders. Luckily the hospital staff there was able to get them back in their sockets, but I was left with some incredibly painful, low-functioning shoulders. Upon returning to Brooklyn, I reached out to Dr. Steve, who suggested I work with Dr. Sarah, which I did. I found her to be knowledgeable, concise in her explanations, patient and positive. After visiting her for evaluation, therapy and re-evaluations, and following her rehab routine religiously, I'm happy to say that my shoulder are not only back in action, but as good as new. I have had PT for different reasons off and on for years. Always went to Rudy. His Physiologic location is extremely nice. Spacious, clean, peaceful, excellent staff - from reception to Insurance assistance to service delivery. I only have good things to say about Physiologic. It combines many services under one roof that one might need for an injury or chronic condition, which means I don't have to shop around for different practitioners. I had PT with Dr. "Rachel", and I can say, thanks to her, in a matter of a few weeks I went from painful walking (I had a hip issue) to being pain free. I still do exercises at home. I also received therapeutic massage which revealed some issues I did not know existed - now I can address those proactively. It is reassuring to know there is a place I can go to for immediate attention should old injuries rear their heads again. I highly recommend Physiologic to anyone considering Therapeutic care. I highly recommend Physio Logic on Remsen in Brooklyn. As a professional squashplayer, currently ranked 40 in the world, I have seen a lot of physio's and chiropractors and I honestly found that the people at PL were amazing. Very friendly, very helpfull. Also the practice is very spacious and I found the atmosphere very relaxed. I arrived in New York with my back in total spasm. The next day (the day I was due to play) Dr Rudy made time to see me and did such great work that I ended up playing without any restrictions. This place is truly 5 stars. I was sorry that they did such a great job with my hip . Now I don t need to go there that much anymore. They have fantastic physical therapy, a great chiropractic staff and 4 of the best massage therapists i ve ever had. I have gone through years of searching for a place that would help me with my osteoarthritic hip. They have, with there 3 modalities of therapy, almost completely restored movement to my hip and given me a solid base to work from. I cannot recommend this place enough.
