This particular one is located off of Dempster, across from the new mini Target, where once stood a resale/consignment shop. UltraMed addresses the following needs (and, more) for their patients: cold/flu, sore throats, fever, cough, pneumonia, respiratory infections, rash, eczema, yeast infections, various testing, and even offer school/sports/camp physicals. The front desk was friendly, and the P.A. that I saw was fine. I just found it odd that there weren't really any other patients there at the time, and there was just an incredibly long wait time in every aspect - a long wait time to be called back, a long wait time sitting alone in the room until someone came in, a long wait time to receive a confirmation of what I had, and a long wait to follow-up and to get checked out. It became awkward, because what felt like 30 minutes or so after receiving a prescription and thinking that my session was done, I wasn't sure if I could just have walked out. There weren't any check-ins at all during at any point in these scenarios, and I really thought that I was forgotten! I don't mind seeing P.A.s or nurse practitioners, but only if they are competent in doing their job. However, the particular P.A. that I saw seemed to look up/research on his phone, had to get constant confirmation from one of the doctors that were on the premise, and played a waiting game to receive the 'okay' to proceed in how to handle the case. If I knew that was how I was going to get my diagnosis, I would have just self-diagnosed using the internet! I just felt that there was no respect for my time. Why couldn't the doctor just come in and say what was needed to be said, or the case be transferred to someone who actually knew what to do? The amount of time I spent here, it would have been better just to have gone to the ER and waited an extra couple of hours. There was also a billing issue; make sure you always have a receipt when you pay with your insurance to confirm payment, as you may get notices of an inaccurate balance! I'm glad I finally got the results and the medicine that I needed, but I can't recommend this place to others, especially since there is no sense of 'urgency.' My patience and my anxiety just can't handle it. There's plenty of parking in the small strip plaza lot. +extremely long waits times in all aspects +located across from the mini Target +free parking in strip plaza lot

The friendly staff at UltraMed took us with no issue. The office staff is beyond friendly and accommodating; very helpful. Dr. Alex in particular provides exceptional care with the best bedside I've ever experienced. We came in to refill some post-surgery medications. Dr. Alex examined the incisions and noticed a couple spots he thought he could help heal faster. He was very thorough and informative. He took the time needed to help keep surgical wounds healing well and even let me watch closely as he worked. He made easy friendly conversation between being very clear about what he was doing and why. If I could make this Urgent Care clinic my GP I would. By far the best medical care I've experienced.

The tuberculosis shot and skin reading was a requirement from the agency that I plan to do my and internship at. Initially, I sought out Advocate Medical Group - Wicker Park after searching Google for places near my neighborhood which ended up not working out with its location due to me not being able to commit to making the drive back to Wicker Park for the 72-hour follow up for skin reading. That resulted in me seeking out other locations near my job to make it easier on myself which Advocate Medical Group - Niles ended up being the best decision considering it is near where I work. I visited late in the evening, so I walked into a fairly empty clinic with only a few customers inside. The employee I initially encountered was friendly and easy to communicate with which differed from Advocate Medical Group - Wicker Park, but that is a whole different rant. To keep me occupied inside prior to seeing the nurse there was a flat screen television hinged to the wall, which I barely had the chance to enjoy it because of how quickly they got me in for the tuberculosis shot. From the time I walked through the door to doing my paperwork to getting the actual tuberculosis shot, it took no more than 35 minutes entirely which was not too shabby. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Advocate Medical Group - Niles. And would not hesitate on visiting again for future services because I felt very welcome and comfortable with everyone I encountered within my short period. Thomas G

I received a text the day before from the office. I called to remind them that when I booked the appointment I had made it known that I didn't want to be texted so they texted me again. I showed up for my appointment and wanted to make sure that it would not happen again and the woman behind the desk was rude to me and only cared about getting my insurance card and driver's license. I did not want to proceed without first straightening out the texting issue and other privacy concerns. I had brought a list of 5 concerns about privacy to go over with the doctor first and this pissed her off even more. Then she wanted my insurance card and driver's license. I had a really bad feeling at this point and let her know I was not comfortable with the way things were going and I was leaving and not coming back and left. As I was driving home Dr. Edelstein called me to tell me off and to tell me to find another doctor. He was not smart enough to understand that when I said I was leaving and not coming back that I had already permanently ended things with his office. A little advice for the Doctor and his office - treat the person who is paying you with respect and put up with things like a no texting rule or plan to go out of business.

Due to Covid, there were instructions posted on the front window to call. Once I phoned, I was guided through what to expect by the individual who answered and told to wait in my car. The communication was great as it was very detailed and I knew what to expect. When Dr. Vitulski came to my car, she gave me a new clean mask and asked that I replace the cloth mask I wearing. Dr. Vitulski stood outside my car at a distance and took all my information. The only time I needed to enter the building was to give a urine sample. *Here is where I had my issue with a previous visit: I had a UTI at the beginning of the year and my sample was sent to a group that was not covered under my insurance. My insurance is an all-or-nothing so I did check on-line prior to the visit that the facility was covered but never thought to check on the lab. I had to pay the full amount for the testing. For this visit, before I left the building, I asked the individual behind the desk that they please check my insurance and send to a group that is covered under my insurance. They did... all was covered. When I exited the building, I waited in my car for a call with a follow-up and the initial results. Within a short period of time, the call came and we discussed what medications I needed and how much. I was also given details of what to do if there were any further issues. This was all done seamlessly, safely and with great detail. I felt that I was already armed with all the information that I needed and I was very impressed with the follow-up text... and even more impressed with the follow-up phone calls to see how I was doing.

I'd been having symptoms of the infection for 7-10 days when I decided to schedule an appointment at the Sauganash Immediate Care facility on April 10, 2026. I was running late and I wished that I could've simply called the site directly to let them know and change my appointment to a later time, but unfortunately there's just a general number for all the sites that is answered by that obnoxious fake AI voice - it's virtually impossible to talk to a real person. When I arrived at the center there was a nice guy at the desk who greeted me. There was a phone on the desk, so I knew that I could've easily just called and talked with him on that phone to let him know that I needed to reschedule for a later slot that afternoon. The most convenient way to communicate for many patients is via a simple phone call, not an app or a website. He informed me that the medical staff was out to lunch and would be back in 45 minutes. I just decided to sit and wait. Forty-five minutes later I was seen by a nurse practitioner, Joanne Da Silva. She listened to my lungs and determined that they were not severely congested and that I did not have pneumonia. She also ordered a COVID test that was negative. She advised me that if my symptoms worsened, I should come back and they would do a chest x-ray and prescribe an antibiotic. At that point I should've said that if my symptoms had not decreased or became more severe, why don't you give me the prescription for the antibiotic now and I can just have it filled in two weeks if I need it - rather than come back a second time and pay again for a follow-up appointment for the same illness. I didn't do that, however, but will do that in future visits to IC centers. Or there should be an easy way to contact the facility and request that the prescription be sent directly to my pharmacy without having to make a second visit. The issues I had were not with Joanne, but with the powers-that-be in her organization that I'm sure are probably in compliance with federal laws. I had problems with the treatment options (all OTC medications) that were offered to me: either regular Mucinex or Coricidin, a nasal spray ("Ocean" brand or Neil Med Sinus Rinse that I'd never heard of and are not available at local pharmacies were specifically recommended on the After Visit Summary instructions). I went to a local pharmacy and checked out the active as well as the inactive ingredients of the medications. Both of these name-brand medications are expensive and not covered by my AETNA PPO insurance. I also compared the ingredients to their generic counterparts. The active ingredients for the Mucinex knock-off were the same as the name-brand and the inactive ingredients were very similar: cornstarch, several dyes to make the pills look appealing, magnesium stearate, maltodextrin (Dr Eric Berg, a renowned natural food and supplements expert, states in one of his videos that maltodextrin is a totally vile substance that is harmful to one's health and has no benefits whatsoever), microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, polyvinyl alcohol alcohol, povidone, silicon dioxide, sodium starch glyconate, stearic acid, talc, and titanium oxide. If anyone out there can explain to me why these ingredients are necessary and promote healing I would be totally shocked! I purchased this item, but just couldn't make myself take any and will be returning them to the pharmacy this week. In the meantime, a friend of mine who is knowledgeable about natural remedies gave me a bottle of capsules called Z-Stack by Zelenko Labs that has vitamin C , vitamin D3, zinc, and quercetin. I hope (knock on wood) that I will be totally well very soon now. Next time I go to an IC center (which hopefully will be a long time from now -maybe never) that I'll have a much more positive experience than I had this time.
