I was a patient with Dr. Patel for over over 15 years. Found out today when trying to make an appointment that she's only seeing patients if they pay an extra 2000 dollars yearly, on top of copays. This is because she wants to see less patients, but still make the same amount of money. The healthcare system in this country leaves a lot to be desired... I should not have to shell out thousands of dollars for a routine yearly checkup. This is NOT ethical, and I hope she loses each and every patient she has. Thanks for nothing, Dr. Patel. Good to know you don't care about your patients unless they have enough money to be worth your time. What a disappointment. I've been seeing you since I was 14 years old and I really thought you were better than this. We live in a nation where being healthy is a privilege for the affluent, and that is truly a shame. I feel conflicted with this review but hear me out. I moved to the east coast nearly two years ago and I really needed a care team. This team of doctors was highly recommended and when I met both Dr. Patel and Dr. Rausch, they were spectacular. They BOTH know exactly what they are talking about. I had had two miscarriages and was having trouble conceiving. Dr. Patel got right on it, no nonsense and direct to the point. I trusted her completely and by the end of last year, I delivered a healthy baby boy. Dr. Rausch saw me post partum and she was in the delivery room. I was excited to have a team of doctors that cared for me and knew their stuff! Sometime in the spring of this year, I received notification that they'd go to a concierge service which is like a membership service where you have to pay a fee to be their patient. I understand part of it is the insurance companies screwing them over so this new platform would have the patient foot the bill. I really can't blame them but as a patient I also cannot quantify the cost. Which sucks because before I moved I saw THREE doctors and no one helped me the way these brilliant doctors have. As far as their skill and knowledge goes, they truly are the best. I wish them the best, I truly did love them and the staff, I feel like we bonded through my pregnancy journey and I wish I could have stayed longer for them to help me with any future pregnancies. read more

We had the most incredible birth experience with Dr. Patel and Dr. Rausch. From our first appointment, Dr. Patel asked thoughtful questions, answered all of ours, and made sure we felt taken care of after a difficult journey to get pregnant. Her and Dr. Rausch took every precaution with my pregnancy, were thorough and never missed a beat. I felt myself and my baby were in spectacular hands. My water broke 5 weeks early, and Dr. Rausch answered calmy in the middle of the night and guided us on that we needed to go in. From there, her and Dr. Patel made smart descisions on my labor and worked with me on my preferences. They never once pressured me on meds, I chose an epidural when I was ready, and did everything possible to see I had a vaginal birth. When I reached 9cm at 2am, Dr. Patel hurried over and was guiding me from the beginning. She was calm, sat bedside and never once made me feel anxious or worried. She diligently kept an I on me and our baby's health and had NICU ready and waiting. Her incredible bedside manner made one of the toughest experiences a woman can face as calm as humanely possible. In the final moments, she delivered the baby with ease and then saw that I was properly taken care of. She saw that I got to hold the baby before she was whisked off and then kept me calm during a trying moment. After the delivery, she visited both days I was in the hospital and saw that I was healing properly, on July 4th weekend no less! She is a rock star and truly incredible. So many of the hospital staff raved they used her for their births, too. I plan to continue to see her and the practice for years to come, and feel so blessed and lucky she oversaw our birth experience. read more

I would not recommend this practice. Just help yourself to not add more stress to your pregnancy journey. Dr. Patel in particular have very bad bedside manner and horrible temper. She will raise her voice to you and tell you to follow her way or leave. No considering about patient's situation but herself. read more

I may be an outlier but I had a beyond unprofessional experience with this doctor and staff. After about 4 minutes into the appointment just giving her my medical history and why I was there, Dr. Patel had to walk out to take a phone call. A few minutes later her staff came in and told me there was an emergency delivery and she would not be returning. Obviously taking time off work for this appointment i was frustrated but decided it wasn't a huge deal because it meant that if I was delivering, she would drop everything (although I would have liked her to pop her head in for 10 seconds to tell me there was an emergency and she had to run since I was a brand new patient, but she may not have thought of that if it was a true emergency so I wasn't too mad). Then, it appeared as if there was no protocol in place for an event like this which there clearly should be since it's an obgyn office and babies come all the time. When I asked what next they told me I could wait and when I said I had to go back to work they said they guessed I could reschedule -while one of the staff wasn't wearing a mask I might add. We rescheduled and since I hadn't actually had an appointment, I asked to make sure I wouldn't get charged for that day and the response was "Oh, i guess I can leave a note for the office manager about it." Which I was surprised by because I clearly didn't get the appointment I booked so why would I be charged for it. I got a voicemail that night saying I didn't need to come in and Dr. Patel would just finish the appointment over the phone. I'm trying to find a doctor that will be my partner in conceiving and delivering my first baby so I just decided this wasn't the right fit for me personally so I canceled my appointment 3 full days beforehand which was more than enough time. Fast forward a couple weeks: I just received a bill saying I was charged for the appointment I never received. I left a voicemail the minute I got the bill and when I returned their call the following day, I explained the whole situation. She spoke to the doctor and apparently because Dr. Patel gave me one piece of generic advice that my GP and internet gave me, they were going to charge me for the entire appointment that I only got about 4 minutes of and there's nothing I could do about it. Each piece alone is not a huge deal, but combined, it was weirdly unprofessional and just confirmed my choice to go elsewhere. read more

I went here because a friend recommended Dr. Rausch for her caring personality and excellent bedside manner. The same friend also gave me a heads-up that the office staff leaves a lot to be desired but that is supposedly the norm in Northern Virginia. After two months worth of OB visits to Physicians for OB/GYN Care, the only interaction that I had with Dr. Rausch was a short phone call in which she informed me that she will forward my medical records to a new OB but I need to pay her office $10 first. That only reinforced the feeling that I am making a wise decision to transfer care to another OB. If the 3 physicians that make up 'Physicians for OB/GYN Care' actually CARE for their patients, that is not apparent at all. On a couple of occasions, the staff seemed to have no idea why I was there; another time, the doctor relayed the wrong information about my reason for an ultrasound to their ultrasound people; and the time I asked for clarification on a bill, the young woman at the Front Desk, clearly more engaged in chewing gum than providing customer service, replied, "I don't know. So are you gonna pay this right now?" As for the other 2 doctors in the practice, Dr. Cauble and Dr. Patel, I can't say that they were any more caring or patient-oriented than their staff. There are much better options in the area for OB's, don't waste your time with this practice! read more

Unfortunately, I have to leave this review (I do not leave Yelp reviews) due to the incredibly unprofessional attention I received regarding a consult and subsequent scheduled surgery with Dr. Patel. I feel it is my responsibility as a fellow professional to leave this review. I was referred to Dr. Patel after a series of tests confirmed masses in my abdomen that were identified as pedunculated fibroids. After getting news that this may need a hysterectomy, I was distraught, and was refreshed and relieved to hear , after a consultation with her, that Dr. Patel seemed skilled and trusted in Myomectomies. She ordered blood tests on the spot. Her office called me the following week with instructions, and soon, a date for surgery. I followed all of them, including a form I had to sign that states that if I were to cancel surgery less than two weeks prior, I would have to pay them $550.00. To be continued... I mentally prepped for this surgery for 3+ weeks. I was so excited to maybe finally feel some relief. I took off work for 6 weeks, I made sure things were in order. I am a teacher, and declined summer income because it would not make sense to accept and have to quit by 8/6, surgery date. Now it's Monday before surgery. I am prepared. I've sacrificed summer income, I've made work arrangements, help arrangements. The prior Monday (7/26), I called to ask if I need to buy anything additional to prep. They said, just the bowel prep and we will be in contact. A nurse did explain the costs associated w varying levels of coverage, but never once implied that this would be upfront. Important to note, is that I did call -- they returned the call and then when I immediately called back, they said voicemail was full. But it was I who called them first. And I called right back. I am a very conscientious person, and I knew their numbers and insurance numbers. And I always just call back. Fast forward to Monday. I am having dinner w a sick friend and saw the 703 come up. I planned to call back when home. By the time I got home, however, I had received an email from a Patricia stating that they had been trying to get a hold of me and that if I did not call back my Wednesday, they would cancel surgery. I was alarmed. I checked my phone log-- no missed calls. Also, if they had really wanted to get a hold of me, why not email me like they just did? Something was awry. I called first thing in the morning. The nurse (Lisa Hoffman) told me that unless I could pay ~3500 dollars upfront by next Monday, they would cancel. I was blindsided and confused. I said I would see what I can do. I immediately called insurance and they were confused as well. I explained that the office had told me they were out of network, but insurance explained that they were in network just not a bordering county. So I call the office back and explain that. I understood that it was being covered at a lower level, but if the office wanted 3500 upfront, they needed to tell me way before a week prior. Needless to say, I was on the phone all day between insurance and their office. Trying to understand. I was reviewing my call logs. This, for me, meant a sacrifice of summer income, reworking my teaching schedule, basic life re-arrangement. So, I put my concerns in writing. Lisa, the nurse, told me that printed out the email and would show it to Dr. Patel the next morning (Wednesday). At about 9am on Wednesday, I received a call from Lisa that they were canceling the surgery. She gave me two numbers to call. Baffled, I asked for a reason. She would not give one. I then asked for a reason in writing as to why they wouldn't work w me. She responded with a Dr. Patel is obligated to write anything. She is no longer available and that is the end of this conversation. Um, but I think you do, Dr. Patel. My entire summer revolved around this surgery and I sacrificed a lot to make appropriate arrangements to finally feel relief. You scheduled a surgery date. You canceled less than a week prior. You do owe me an explanation. You wouldn't even tell me yourself. You put Lisa in the middle. It was perhaps the most unprofessional handling of a situation I've ever seen. So, everyone else reading this-- put everything in writing for this group. They will and can screw you over. Do not trust them. I could add more details-- like how the phone number on Pattys email went to a different office w no Patty. But I'll leave that for you. Something is wrong there, and I'm glad I probably dodged a bullet. read more

The doctors and staff (even new staff) here are outstanding women in a practice FOR women. I've been here for about 5 years, 3 pregnancies, and due with 4th this fall. They deliver at Reston Hospital, which is not the hospital closest to us now, but worth the trip for the quality of care that Dr. Patel and the staff provide. I call myself a patient of Dr. Patel specifically but I have seen everyone and they are all fantastic. I have also seen some of their affiliates who were on call during or after delivery at Reston. I have had 3 different procedures/deliveries (C-Section, D&C for loss, and VBAC) and in each case the doctors were empathetic, supportive, knowledgeable and most importantly, cheerleaders and advocates for my family. They no longer offer sonograms onsite, which kind of is a bummer. The practice has undergone some business changes in the past year or two that everyone still seems to be adjusting to- staff is busier, hold times are longer, and Dr. Cauble is no longer with the practice and has not been replaced (however this change is not necessarily Privia related, but they're down a doctor regardless). The remaining medical staff remains superb though and I highly recommend the Drs Patel and Rausch. read more

I have had an absolutely wonderful experience with Physicians for OBGYN Care over the past few years. During my first pregnancy, I miscarried. The nurse staff and Dr. Rausch were absolutely amazing, making me feel comfortable and better about the situation. My second pregnancy, I visited each of the Drs at least twice (3 Drs total) and ultimately decided I felt most comfortable with Dr. Manisha Patel - she is knowledgeable, to the point, and exactly what I needed to get me through having my first baby. Nurses on staff were also extremely helpful. I had a tough pregnancy and had to call the office on numerous occasions asking questions and receiving feedback - I am very grateful to those ladies for *holding my hand* through the process. To give a completely honest review, I will note that one a few occasions, wait times to see the Drs were frustrating. At least twice, I had to wait an hour past my appointment time before I was brought back to see the Dr. I voiced my concerns about the waits to the office staff and I must admit it got a little better. My advice would be to book your appointments as early as possible with this clinic, it seemed anytime I went in the afternoon they were always behind and the wait was longer. Other than that, I have nothing but positives to say about this business and if I ever have any other babies, I'll be sure to be returning to this office. read more

My review is a mixed one, but I would not recommend this practice to a friend. Dr. Cauble is very nice, and appointments ran on schedule- those are the two positive things I can say. I do not feel that this practice is focused on caring for women. As many other reviews online have stated, the front desk receptionist is cold and uncaring. Beyond that, she can be downright mean and sarcastic. If you plan on calling in with a question more than once during your pregnancy, I suggest you have a very thick skin. After I had had to call in several times (see below for explanation), and stated my name, I was met with a sarcastic sigh, followed by a "I will have to have someone call you back." The tone was much less than friendly. I had difficulty not only with the front desk, but also with lab work. One of my tests during my pregnancy was not sent out. I had to call three days is a row (AFTER my tests were due back) to find this out. The front office lied to me ("The doctor has them, she just needs to review them before calling you") for days before the doctor told me the truth- they had not been sent out. As it turns out, the test was abnormal and I required medication. If I had not called each day, I don't think I would have received the prescription I needed. When I requested a copy of my medical records, they cancelled all of my future appointments without asking if I was leaving (I had been planning on a second opinion). No one ever asked if and/or why I was choosing to leave the practice. Over a month later, I was erroneously billed $550. When I called to clear this up, I was immediately faced with attitude from the front desk. The receptionist raised her voice to me and was extremely unprofessional. On top of all of these issues, while I found Dr. Cauble to be kind, I did not find the practice in general to be open to critical thinking. I felt that my questions were answered minimally, but when I raised any concern about something that was apart of my treatment, there was no discussion about options, and my questions were met with "Here is what we recommend, no one will force you to take it" rather than "Here's why we're recommending this, and here are other options." All in all, I suggest you stay away. This is not an emotionally safe place for a pregnant woman, nor is it a place for a critical thinker. read more

Dr. Kathleen Rausch is one of the best doctors I have ever been in contact with, I was so happy with the care she gave me during my first pregnancy I could not wait to call her as soon as I got a positive result with my pregnancy test for the second pregnancy but to my dismay I find my self looking for another OBGYN practice to go to as the treatment by the office staff is simply becoming unbearable, they are rude, inconsiderate and arrogant, thank god they are not in the delivery room when you actually have your child, they would make it a very unpleasant experience. The only reason I tolerated the office staff in this practice for my first pregnancy was because of the excellent care given to me by Dr Rausch. As soon as I got my positive test result I immediately called the office to schedule my visit.... And the rudeness began; the receptionist was unpleasant and very arrogant. For my first visit I was to see Dr Manish Patel, My husband advised me to have my first visit and bring up the case of the rude and unpleasant staff to the doctor at the end of the visit as he felt the best way to improve a service we use regularly would be to provide honest feedback and if the doctor takes it to heart, the necessary changes can be made so the experience can be better for everyone concerned as they use this very important service for in the community, When I broached the subject of the rude staff that I have observed over the course of 1 year with Dr Patel, she point blank told me that I could choose a different provider if I was not satisfied. I was SHOCKED. I hope both Dr Rausch and Dr Cauble; make note of the fact that telling the patient to choose another provided should not be the first option presented to a patient that has some concerns about rude office staff, I am not sure where Dr Manish Patel received her training from but it looks like it did not include basic patient handling and decent manners. read more

Words cannot express how wonderful Dr. Patel was during our deliver (as well as the prenatal visits with her, Dr. Rausch, and staff). Prenatal visits: we found all of our visits to be informative, supportive, and easy. The office is a clean and respectful environment. All staff were very friendly and approachable. Labor/Delivery: Dr. Patel is professional and supportive. She addressed all of our questions and concerns promptly and clearly. We felt confident in her clinical decisions. Honestly, we cannot think of one criticism to provide. A great choice for our OB! read more

I have been a patient of this Office for almost 6 years and specially Dr. Patel's for nearly as long. I think they are wonderful!

After moving out of downtown DC where my OBGYN's office felt like a factory, I am very happy (for the most part) with this practice. Last year I had 3 failed pregnancies, 2 which I found out weren't viable during ultrasounds. Dr. Patel is particularly warm, caring, empathetic, and patient. It's very hard to find a good doctor these days that doesn't rush you out the door. She's an excellent doctor. The office staff however, could use some lessons in courtesy and kindness. I find myself during many visits standing at the counter in front of the glass door above reception that welcomes pts with a sign "PLEASE DO NOT TAP ON THE GLASS". And you can be standing there for minutres before the receptionist looks up and pays any attention to you. read more

I have been a patient of Dr.Patel for the past 4 years and I am very happy with my experience so far. If you are looking for a "warm and fuzzy" type of doctor, Dr.Patel is not for you. She is a sweet person, very professional, factual, direct, to the point. For my annual exams, I can be in and out within 40 minutes (including paper work, waiting time, exam, walking from/to my car). I rarely have to wait over 5 minutes at the waiting area. She only delivers baby at the Reston Hospital so this is something to consider when you select her as your doctor. read more

She rushed us and didn't discuss birth control options like the RN had told us she would. She had a huge attitude with us and was very snarky. I wouldn't trust her with my own care let alone anyone else's. Waited for an HOUR and got a 20 minute appointment with her. DO NOT SCHEDULE with her. Dr. Rausch is better. Would give a zero if I could. Dr Johns was in my delivery room and that was the first time I met her as she was the on-call doctor during weekends for Physicians for obgyn care group, reston. She introduced herself in a hurry and I thought she will check my dilation, all of a sudden she broke my water and I was in a terrible pain and by that time my Epidural was not given. I told them several times before that I want epidural they ignored it and broke my water first after that they gave the epidural. Usually Epidural will be given first then the doctor should brake the water so that we don't feel the pain. That pain was so terrible that we cant even imagine. She was in a big hurry felt like she wants to finish everything faster. read more

If you are looking for doctors who are willing to provide flexibility, alternative options, and thorough explanations for their recommendations, this is probably not the practice for you. Dr. Rausch gave me the best experience out of the 3 doctors there. She spent a good amount of time talking with my husband and I early on and answering the questions we had at the time. She had a comforting, experienced, knowledgeable demeanor and had me convinced that their practice is mother-centered and reasonable. At my very first appointment with Dr. Cauble, she came in the room and said, "Ok, we have a problem." She didn't introduce herself or ask how I was doing, so that abrupt entry was incredibly alarming. I didn't know if she meant something was wrong with my pregnancy....my baby....I had no idea what she was talking about. It turned out to be some papers I was supposed to sign that they had never given me to sign, and she acted like it was my fault. I told her I'd be glad to sign them, but it's their responsibility to let me know. She didn't apologize or anything, we just moved on with the check-up. My worst experience was with Dr. Patel, who called me after I had spoken a couple times with a nurse about declining a test they were "requiring" me to take. Through consultation with other doctors I know personally, I had found a safe alternative to the test and felt more comfortable with that option. Dr. Patel called and became very belligerent with me on the phone as I explained the decision I had made. When I kept asking her to explain why their recommendation was better, she said, "We have studies supporting this, and I don't have to explain all of that to you. This is the way we do it and you have to accept that." She threatened that she would write in my file that I was being neglectful and putting myself in danger, that I could have a stillborn child, and suggested that I didn't care enough about my baby. She told me that my previous test numbers were "extremely high" when other members of their office had already told me they were only a little bit high. She finished by saying she "was not going to argue with me," and that I needed to find another doctor if I thought someone else could take better care of me. A few days later she called me and kicked me out of the practice, saying they would no longer provide me with care beyond a 30-day emergency-only period while I find another provider. Thankfully, I had already decided that I would be leaving. Lastly, I also had the same issue as another reviewer with them putting the wrong diagnosis code for my ultrasound. I also had issues with the billing department, who sent me a bill for my OB Deposit, which they told me was due at 7 months, and then they sent me a bill for it saying "Overdue. 2nd Notice." When I called to ask the billing lady (Patricia), she said "don't worry about it, I know when it's due. It's not due until your 7th month." I'm 26 weeks along now and regret that it took this long to realize this wasn't the place for me. I was willing to overlook the unprofessional, abrasive receptionist and the smaller issues like my first experience with Dr. Cauble, and just kept hoping it would get better, but it is truly a relief to be leaving this practice. I never expected to be treated the way I was treated by Dr. Patel. It was completely unprofessional and unacceptable, and I deserve better. read more

This group is absolutely horrible! I made an appointment back in April for 1 pm and when I got to the office the door was locked and there was no one there to answer my multiple phone calls. I waited for over 25 minutes before I decided to leave because I was in the middle of a work day. After I left I decided to leave a voice message to reschedule the appointment and no one called back until 5 days later. After rescheduling my appointment a month out, I received NO notification/reminder of when my appointment was supposed to happen. I called in today to confirm what I thought was supposed to be my June 15th appointment and the receptionist, Debby, that I didn't have an appointment for that day and that I should've received an email notification. After explaining to her that I didn't receive an email notification and that this would be my second rescheduled appointment she didn't seem empathetic at all and it almost sounded like she was rushing me off the phone. Note to the practice: 1.) Treat your new patients, like new patients...with kindness and a sense of concern. 2.)Don't schedule an appointment during a time you know everyone is out at lunch. 3.)Get your customer service together! read more

I haven't had my appointment yet, but did want to mirror what the others have been saying about brusk customer service. I am new to the area so just called the office to make my first appointment. I was on the phone all of a minute and a half and the receptionist reminded me 4 times that I will be charged for the appointment if I don't show up. They book appointments a month out with pretty much no exceptions (I have a breast lump I'd like to have looked at sooner rather than later. At the end of our call, the receptionist reminded me one more time about the cancellation policy and I said ok, great, so that was (and I repeated the date and time) before I realized she had already hung up! I went to this practice for over 7 years and they recently changed to GW. They sent my lab specimen to an Out of Network Lab when I specifically stated where my labs go and it is also on my insurance card. I was balance billed hundreds of dollars so I contacted the office as it was a mistake on their part and I should not be held liable for this. The front office staff was unbelievable rude to me and told me it was my problem...I will never ever go back there due to the lack of support for an issue they created. I'm surprised and saddened to see other negative reviews. I have had nothing but the best care from these amazing doctors. I started seeing them after moving here from Arizona. I saw three different doctors/practices in AZ with varying degrees of care. My first pregnancy in AZ ended up being a high risk one with serious complications at the end. I went to see this practive after moving here and getting pregnant with my second child. All three dctors are very knowledgable and specialize in high risk pregnancies. Working together, we ended up mitigating all risks and I gave birth safely and healthfully to a happy, healthy, full term baby. In the year after birth, they have supported me in my recovery and have always been more than helpful on the phone. I have full confidence in the doctors and staff and would absolutely recommend them to anyone. read more

Words can't express how grateful I am for the wonderful care I received from Dr Patel and the staff at Phys for OBGyn. They were there for me every step of the way though a somewhat stressful pregnancy due to previous miscarriages. They never made me feel that I had too many questions or concerns or that they were unimportant. I can't speak highly enough of Dr Patel. She made me feel so informed and comforted throughout my pregnancy and especially during labor and delivery. I couldn't ask for a better doctor, nurses, and staff too care for me. read more

My physician here is Dr. Patel. She was nothing short of an amazing doctor to me. I have had a medical condition all my life that did not allow me to have a period. I lived in a small town so maybe the doctors there were a little country, but they never could get me to cycle. In fact told me I could not have a child nor cycle unless I was on a harsh hormone replacement therepy which they said would be very hard on me. I had 2 visits at this office and the second visit Dr Patel told me that she thought my problem was that my brain hadn't developed in a certain area when I was young and simply didn't sent the right signals to my body. She said that being on Birth Control should solve this. Within 3 weeks of being on the birth control at the age of 28 I got my first period. Wow. It was that simple. I had seen many doctors who never seen this solution. I recommend anybody to her. She is pleasent and makes me feel comfortable.
