Had my first visit today, Dr Spooner has excellent bedside manners! Review all my blood work results I had with me with me and also my full body MRI I did. Office was clean and personnel was polite and patient. read more

Only complaint is getting a receipt for FSA is unnecessarily cumbersome. The office provided the wrong number for the billing person. Then the billing person didn't answer during normal office hours. Left a message but haven't heard back. It would be nice if the office had a methodology to provide receipts that are required by FSA in an area swarming with a federal workforce. One of the more painful ways of handling it I've experienced. read more

I was extremely lucky to get an appointment with Dr Spooner's office, sneaking in at a time that it has been difficult to find anyone taking new patients at all. She is both extremely conscientious and extremely kind, taking the time to explain things and soothe me through things that might otherwise have been extremely difficult. She truly cares for her patients and would take care of everyone if she could. The office staff are no different, from the lady at the front desk to the nurses in the back, and I love every one of them. I don't know how to properly emphasize how deeply I cherish having her as my GYN, except to tell you that I no longer live in the area and will still drive 2 and 1/2 for 3 hours to my appointment because I refuse to see anyone else. You would too. read more

I will never forget the experience I had sitting in front of Dr. Spooner the day I asked for a tubal ligation. I was maybe 27 or 28 years old, but very certain I didn't want children. She refused my request for the surgery stating I needed permission from my husband first. I was absolutely shocked at this response. This was around 2007. Her assumption that this wasn't something I'd already discussed with my husband at the time (the issue was made crystal clear before we were married) was surprising. This has been many years ago and I later found a male gyn in another state that was more than happy to do the surgery. I never once regretted that decision. read more

Have been going to see Dr Spooner for years and she's the perfect balance of professionalism and compassion. Her new location is even more convenient for me and the staff at the office are well organized and responsive when I call with a question or concern. I feel lucky to have Dr Spooner in my area. read more

How many women enjoy a visit to their gynecologist? Dr. Spooner is so warm and friendly that you feel extremely comfortable talking to her. In addition to truly caring about her patients, she is also extremely knowledgeable and competent. read more

I called and I asked if they were accepting new patients. They said they were not until January. I was a little shocked, so I asked why. The woman on the phone got huffy with me and I was not happy with that. I can ask why, it was a genuine question. read more

Dr. Spooner is the BEST! When I first called to make a new patient appointment back in the middle of 2015, I was told the wait-list was about 9 months! I was completely baffled! I was referred to Dr. Spooner through a co-worker so I decided to add my name to the wait-list and...wait! :) I got a call about 6 months later saying there was an opening and I made my appointment. Dr. Spooner really takes her time when she meets you. The first appointment was very informal in her office. We chatted about all the health things and she really takes an interest in what you say and the questions you ask. I was then moved into an exam room for my annual exam. Dr. Spooner has the BEST bed-side manner! She talks to you the entire time and lets you know what she plans to do. There are no surprises along the way! She is full of information the entire time and you do not feel rushed with her at all! The only compliant from me is probably the front desk. If you call and want to make or cancel an appointment, you aren't likely to reach anyone. You will be stuck listening to the hold music for about 4 minutes and then you will be prompted to leave a message. I'd rather someone answer the phone instead of having to leaving a message. read more

I saw Dr. Spooner today as a new patient and could not be more thrilled with my visit. Her front desk person, Joelia (sp?) was so helpful and was able to get me in because of a cancellation. Dr. Spooner saw me and was very thorough in her examination by asking about my history as well as the current status of things. She had her assistant do my blood work right there during my visit which kept me from needing to make another appointment. I just met Dr. Spooner but I certainly trust her. I feel she is knowledgable and genuinely concerned about her patients. Not to mentions her fantastic staff members! read more

FINALLY! I found a OB/GYN that i trust and love! Dr. Spooner, is thorough, never rushes my appointment, and you can talk to her about anything without feeling uncomfortable. Oh and she has a warming drawer for her instruments she uses for "down below." So they're never cold. super plus!! read more

Dr. Spooner is one of the most attentive, compassionate, and thorough doctors in the area. She takes the time to answer any questions or concerns during each visit. I have been a patient of hers for at least 5 years and I can assure you that she makes your visits as pleasant as possible (which, considering what you are there for, says a lot)! Her entire staff is made up of kind, sweet women. I have recommended her to all my friends. read more

VERY IMPRESSED. As others have posted; Dr. Spooner takes her time. My first (and thus far only) visit started in her office. She truly wishes to get to know her patients. After a 15 minute or so conversation, I then went back to the patient room for the exam. Questions asked and answers were listened to and responded to accordingly. She followed up with some other doctor suggestions (was not happy with a dermatologist I had seen recently) and she made sure the ones she recommended weren't the ones I had a problem with! Very approachable. Both feet are figuratively in the room with you the entire time. The staff was very friendly and professional. Luckily I don't have to visit other than once a year (no illness). read more

Dr. Spooner genuinely cares about her patients and really takes the time to explain everything. Can't say enough good things about her! But, be careful when you leave a voicemail with front desk. I had to call 3 times in order to get a return call. read more

Been a patient for a number of years of being brushed off and my health concerns not being taken seriously- no longer a patient as of today. Dr. Spooner lets her staff be her voice without telling them all of the details. They purposefully do not answer specific questions so that you are forced to schedule an appointment and pay a copay for a 5 min. visit to get one question answered. She cares more about her staff than her patients without listening to legitimate concerns about their care of her patients. Don't bother- she will never care about your health concerns like a good doctor should. read more

I left a message on a Monday, the reception desk went to a voice mail. I called again 3 days later. They never called me back. I asked for a new patient appointment. 1st question I was asked...what insurance? I responded UHC. I was then was politely told they are scheduling new patient appointments in December- a 4 month wait? That is completely ridiculous. Who can wait that long to see a doctor? read more

Dr. Spooner makes that awful annual experience just a little more pleasant. She always has a smile on her face, she's kind, thoughtful, and thorough. I've never felt rushed, on the contrary, she takes her time to explain and makes sure I understand. Also, she wouldn't recommend external resources unless she has or would use them herself. She deserves every one of these 5 stars! read more

Dr. Spooner is without a doubt the best gynecologist I've ever been to. She sincerely cares for her patients, doesn't make you feel rushed & takes the time to ensure you understand everything happening at your visit & beyond. Her front desk staff & nurses are just as supportive & responsive. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Spooner. I cannot say enough good things about her. I have been going to her for several years, and after a horrible experience at an office near the college I went to, I came to her over winter break for a second opinion on something. She is very smart and has never been wrong about anything. I would trust her with my life, seriously. She's extremely comforting and gentle and if you have to call her last minute with something, she will talk to you on the phone and try to help as much as possible, and if you need to make a visit, she can accomadate you. She is definitely the best doctor I have ever known. I highly recommend her! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Spooner for years and she is the best doctor I've ever had. She is very sweet and caring and never makes you feel guilty or stupid for not knowing what's going on. Appointments are usually easy to get and the rooms are comfortable. For a time when I was seeing her I was uninsured and she was able to work with me, giving me discounts and free samples whenever she could. I wish she could be my primary care provider! read more

Dr. Spooner would earn 10 stars from me if I could add them! I have been battling issues since 2007 that other doctors only partially investigated or simply brushed off. From my very first moments of discussing my history (oh yea, she brings you into her cozy office to get to know each other and your medical history before she proceeds) she had suspicions worthy of investigation. It is such a sigh of relief to realize that you're not crazy but that your body IS, in fact, trying to tell you something - and Dr. Spooner understands!!!! She's wonderful, the staff is professional and kind, and the overall experience is well worth the wait for getting in as a new patient. You WON'T regret changing from your adequate obgyn to one that treats you the way you should be treated! read more

The nicest doctor you will probably ever meet in your entire life! I recommend her to everyone! About 6 of my friends recommended me to see her and I definitely see why. Even her staff couldn't stop talking about how nice she is. read more

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Spooner and her whole staff! Always a pleasure seeing her. Definitely worth the wait for her. Giving a Doctor a rating of 1 star because she's not accepting new patients is kind of childish. read more

The best Doctor in this planet :) I have been going to Dr. Spooner for the past 6 years or even more and have been extremely satisfied. She is very professional. She takes her time with every patient. She makes you feel that she is your friend, not your doctor. She is awesome. I love her so much. She is very attentive to every detail. It shows she loves her job and practices it with dignity. I am blessed that she is my doctor ;) read more

Dr. Spooner always makes me feel like I'm the only patient in her office. She's thorough, caring and proactive. Even though it was a year since my last appointment, she had refreshed her knowledge of my file and it was as if I'd seen her just a week earlier. Best GYN I've ever been to, hands-down. read more

I am very happy to have read Yelp before to schedule first appointment with Dr. Spooner. Now, it is my turn to share my experience. She is super kind, gentle and she takes all the time to explain your test results, treatment, and also answer all questions. She is very calmed and pleasant, and makes you feel comfortable. I was surprised that even being on vacations she took the time to call me back, that's not very common. I'm 100% agree with all of those who gave her 5 stars here! read more

Ever since Dr. Spooner opened up her own practice the office hours have changed, they now aren't open on Fridays which obviously eliminates doctor to see her patients if they have a problem and need to be seen on Friday. I called the office today few times after 8:30 and the message kept changing from "we are closed for the holiday" and "we are here assisting other patients and leave us a message". They should just leave the message with the date when they are back to the office not to confuse their patients. Dr. Spooner is great as a doctor but ultimately it's her practice, so I think there are definitely few things that the practice need to work on to make it more helpful to the clients. The other things is if Dr Spooner is on vacation or sick there is nobody else who can see you. It happened to me last year and I had to go to another doctor in Reston. So having only one doc in the office kind of sucks. Hopefully, someone is reading this to make a change if they are willing to change anything. read more

I've been going to Dr. Spooner for about 5 years now? Maybe longer. She's super kind, it's really great that her voice is so calming so that helps not make me feel nervous. Dr. Spooner is by far the best doctor that I have ever had! She is both attentive and kind; and has always created a soothing and gentle atmosphere for my "lady appointments." She takes the time to answer all of my questions, and never makes me feel like I am asking a stupid question. She makes you feel as though she has all the time in the world for you. I have never had a doctor this good and feel so fortunate that I have found her! read more

I have been going to Dr. Spooner since 2008. When I moved to the area, I just happened to make an appointment with the nearest gynecologist--boy did I luck out! I love Dr. Spooner! She makes you feel welcome and at ease, is incredibly empathetic, non-judgmental, and knowledgeable. I have referred no less than 5 of my girlfriends to Dr. Spooner, all of which could not stop raving about her. She was the doctor that discovered my autoimmune thyroid disease in 2010 when I didn't even know to check. I have moved all over the DMV and will continue to make the drive to see my favorite doctor. I only wish she delivered babies! read more

After 20 years I decided to change practitioners due to my move to Loudoun County- Dr. Spooner is absolutely amazing and restores my faith in Physicians- she takes the time to speak with you and responds to voicemail in a very timely manner-Her office space is cramped but, staff is nice but, she needs a technology upgrade for records management. read more

While the doctor Spooner is very friendly and takes her time to talk with you be aware that extra talks and consultations may be charged to you as a part of non wellness visit. This happened to me during the last annual check up. Now I have to pay for the consultation I wasn't even aware of. Another thing is that the doctor may suggest you to take different unnecessary tests (when you don't have any particular symptoms but you take them anyway because you trust her!). Last year it would cost me $300 out of pocket. This year I've been careful not to take any tests but she suggested to take a diagnostic mammogram instead of a regular mammogram screening and again I had to pay $500 since my insurance didn't covered it at all! Doctor Spooner failed to mention this "little" detail. While she may have being a good professional the failure to warn and discuss the costs of her services is very irritating. read more

I love this doctor. She's very competent and thoroughly answers all questions. BUT the billing company she uses makes going there a nightmare. Twice now I have received bills for services paid, one for $1.50 going back two years. Today another for services performed FOR WHICH I PAID AT THE TIME. I have to spend MY time on the phone trying to straighten this out with the billing company. Why she even sends a bill to the billing company for a cash patient who PAID at the time of service is beyond me. But the front office makes it MY responsibility to call and straighten out the incompetence of the billing office. For this reason alone, I may look for another doctor. read more

I love Dr. spooner I've been going to her since before I turned 18..I've never had a problem here until today..I called the nurse because a prescription I had ran out of refills.i called at about 10am and left a voicemail. No one returned my call to tell me it was in or anything. Then I call back again at 4pm and try the nurse and get the vm so I call the front desk. I then proceed to tell them that I've tried to get my prescription refilled (mine you they are usually quick and call me back if I leave a voicemail within the hour or two) as I'm waiting the receptionist is trying to talk to me and talk to someone else in the background. I hear laughing and I'm not sure if it was pointed at me and they proceeded to tell me I didn't leave any information..I left my name, number and the pharmacy I use and their phone number..if they had questions I'd hope they call me back not be snotty about it..I will still be using Dr. Spooner as she is someone I trust and is very kind. Just a bad experience with the others..the starts are obviously for the experience with the front desk not Dr. Spooner herself. read more

First, Dr. Spooner is wonderful. Hands down the best gynecologist I've ever seen. She is extremely knowledgeable and has an incredible bedside manner. Her nurse, Eileen, is equally wonderful. Her reception/office staff, however, is just terrible, and the reason for my less than 5 star review. They do not ever return voicemails, and never call back when they say they will. I've missed time-sensitive procedures because they would not return calls. I've had them enter appointment times incorrectly and then been chastised for not showing up on time, even though there was no way I would have accepted my purported appointment time due to other commitments. If you use Dr. Spooner, make sure to double check your bills and compare them to your insurance EOBs. I've noticed several coding errors, and they've charged me for "non-covered services" that my insurer actually would cover if the office provided adequate information (simple information like the type of medication I received). I'm willing to endure the ineptitude because Dr. Spooner is so wonderful, but if you do not have patience for these types of errors and the time for a lot of self-advocacy, I'd look elsewhere. read more

All of the previous reviews are so true...Dr. Spooner is truly as wonderful as she sounds. Having experienced doctors with terrible bedside manners, she's almost too good to believe. I was a new patient and on my first visit with her, she took me into her office to discuss my history, needs, etc. with genuine interest and concern. I was blown away by this simple act of kindness...after all, who wouldn't want a doctor that (gasp!) truly cares for your health and well-being??? She then gave me an exam that was thorough yet gentle all the while asking if I had any discomfort. Let me just say that this first visit was not a fluke either...I've been back several times to address other issues and each time I'm treated with warmth and respect. I must also add that her Nurse, Eileen is equally amazing and together, they're the dream team! Dr. Spooner is by far, the BEST doctor I've ever had. She is an example by which all other doctors (regardless of specialty) should follow. read more

I love Dr. Spooner! I've been going to her for the past 7 years and have had excellent experiences. Dr. Spooner is the BEST! I LOVE having her as my doctor! After my family doctor ignored my concerns about my leg pain, I went to my yearly visit with Dr. Spooner and voiced my concerns with her. She ordered some extensive blood work and a referred me to a hematologist. I now know that I have a blood clotting mutation. Honestly, Dr. Spooner's actions may have saved my life as, if left unchecked, I could have developed a serious blood clot. Tell your mom, sister, best friend, etc. to go to Dr. Spooner! read more
