This was a preventative procedure. Dr. Khandwalla assured us it was covered as preventative. We arrived after the 24 hour prep and were coerced into paying by credit card charge because the center did not preauthorize or let us know ahead of time. No one ever answers the phone. They did not use the right code. They billed United $11,000 for a simple routine colonoscopy!!! I have never in my life paid close to that. United agreed to $1200 which was already taken out of my credit card. Seriously? It's in a run down center in a sketchy part of Katy. The waiting room is shabby, and the staff are rude and disrespectful. I would not recommend using Dr. Khandwalla or Physicians Endoscopy Center which is shady and deceptive. Unfortunately due to my UC I have to have a colonoscopy every year. Physicians Endoscopy is the choice for my GI Doctor Dr. Khandwalla. I've had a few here before and I always have a pleasant experience here. All the personnel here are great and have great bedside manor. I'm a victim of surprise medical billing to. Fully insured, approved, paid my copay got billed $2600. This should be illegal. I highly suggest finding another medical facility. Also, they told me a day before my appt that I need a covid test which sent me in a rush to find a place who could me the results in less than 24 hours. I have called 3 times this week (Mon Wed and today Fri) and left messages with real people and also on voice mail each time, and just can't get a call back. As a business professional I find it extremely unprofessional when people don't return their messages. I called Physicians Endoscopy Center 1-2 days before Christmas to follow up on financial arrangements regarding a scheduled December 28, 2021 colonoscopy for my wife with an order from her physician. Upon calling, my call was eventually routed to Nikki at extension 2281 (billing dept) who informed me we would need to pay $1000 no later than the date of my wife's scheduled surgery on December 28, 2021 at 7:45am. I asked Nikki what my wife's remaining deductible balance was under her health plan, and she informed me $65.82. I then asked what my wife's unmet out of pocket was under her insurance policy was for year 2021 and Nikki informed me $4271. (My wife's total out of pocket under her policy is $5550.) It's simple math from there. $4271 X 30% (my wife's coinsurance under her policy) equals $1281. Initially Nikki informed me $1000 would be due the date of the colonoscopy, but then informed me over $1800 was due prior to surgery, which exceeds the amount required under her policy of $1281 as described. Furthermore this $1281 might not even be due, as another medical provider might file a claim first, which would make the insurance company responsible for charges due the colonoscopy (not us). I have a successful 34 year old insurance agency that operates exclusively from referrals from financial planners, other insurance agencies and satisfied policyholders. It's not possible to move forward with the scheduled colonoscopy without finalizing financial arrangements. Nikki refused to return 2 messages to finalize these financial arrangements and my wife's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. I have contacted a competitor (Memorial Hermann medical facility) who informed me they would not collect more than our policy requires, and my family will not be considering Physicians Endoscopy Center for future medical needs. It's stressful enough with scheduling surgery, getting out of work and making financial arrangements without the unnecessary stress Physician Endoscopy Center provided. Where do I begin. My son had endoscopy there and I asked that a pathology use for only in network. It was labeled for only in network pathology on the chart. Afterwards we received a bill for over $2500 from pathology. When I spoke to the billing agent at PEC they indicated that even though the chart indicates in network they use the path company that is there that day. Today I had for thr first time an endoscopy and colonoscopy all together! I was terribly nervous!! I have been having issues with a swallowing difficulty after having a terrible episode with acid reflux. Over a month ago, the acid travel all the way to my throat. So far I have been losing weight and cant swallow no solids. Doctor had me to take both tests here. I got here at 11:20pm, my appointment was at 12:30pm. They have me in less than 10 minutes of my arrival. Everyone was really friendly, I eased up by not getting nervous. Everyone was asking how I was, cheking on me. Around 12:15pm I was taken to the room to have my procedures done. So far, it was a great experience. When I woke up, the nurse was really nice to give me a cup of apple juice. Afterwards, Dr Azad came(he was really with two more patients) and told me everything came back good. He explained both procedures and told me to take a stronger medicine to work on my difficulty to swallowing. Overall it was a good experience for me read more

I am happy with my experience with this facility but have a warning. Even if the center and your procedure is covered by your insurance, they use out of network providers. I was told the procedure would be covered 100% and only after I asked, I learned that I will receive a bill up to $500. read more

Staff at PE were all very nice and kept me informed of my procedure. They were running short handed but were not rushing procedures unnecessarily as to do things correctly. I appreciated the efficiency and care the staff took for my procedure. I was called ahead of my procedure to advise what my out of pocket would be and was given information that the pathologist billed separately so I would know what to expect. I'm always nervous about visiting anywhere currently with the ongoing pandemic and they made efforts to keep the waiting area cleaned after each patient and put signs for reserved seating. There was plenty of room between patients and as much as I would have preferred to have my family member wait with me, knew that would mean exposure so the measures they took help to prevent the spread. I was also very impressed they helped the non-English patient in the room next to me with doing a call to a family member to help translate questions to ensure he understood everything being asked or advised. I had a couple of procedures done at this location last week (06/2018). My anxiety was extremely high. Let me start by saying that EVERYONE that I enter-acted with from front desk to back end was simply amazing!! The people that work here are extraordinarily kind, professional, and understanding. They ACTUALLY listen to your concerns and were excellent at distracting me and making this process one to remember because of how easy it was. Dr.Manji was the Rock Star that he has always been by me. Kind, reassuring, very knowledgeable and personable! Christian was the anesthesiologist and he was simply amazing....the best! He helped me through from beginning to end! I left there feeling as though I had visited friends and family! Wendy, Leslie, Lucy were also just phenomenal. I can't remember them all by name but they were ALL just great and a happy bunch! I cannot speak more highly of this place nor these people because I haven't experienced professionalism and kindness on this scale in quite some time.
