    Sorry for the con phusion
    Fox E.

I have to now make this inclusion So I don't get a bad contusion So when in Ohio I think you should try, oh The boba and food here at Phusion! I want to avoid the Con Phusion, and write a review of Phusion Cafe in Cleveland. This is no longer my favourite place to come and eat, or get Boba for that matter, although the food is pretty damn good and pretty cheap as well. I brought Barbie here because of good memories for me, and we both agreed: The Boba is very disappointing. In the old days I used to like it more, but since it expanded into its new fancy location I've noticed that the drink standard really doesn't get it done for me on any level. Having said that, they do make an effort and I've had much worse boba in my day as well. So you can come to your own conclusions as to what you think of it really. It used to be 5-star quality, and service and popularity are still 5 stars, but with 3 star boba, it balances out to 4. I still wish them all the luck in the world though. Original review: What to get: Any of their Bubble Teas, but order it less sweet unless it's the Milk Tea. What not to get: ConPhused by their menu. It's pretty basic. Like your boyfriend. How to improve: Add Brown Sugar Milk Tea to the menu! There is some ConPhusion about what good Bubble Tea is and how important lovely service is. I'm big into Bubble Tea and I don't care too much about service as long as they get my order right. But for what it's worth, the younger girl working here (maybe the daughter of the owners?) is so friendly it hurts. Literally I get shooting pains up and down my groin area (both sides) from her obsene in-your-face bubble-tea-providing friendliness. As for the tea itself, it might be the best Bubble Tea in the CLE, but that really isn't saying much at all because this city does not have the excellent options of nearby Pittsburgh or even Rochester, and don't get me started on the bubble tea heavens of Cali, NYC, Toronto or Houston. It is really nice though, particularly by Cleveland standards. The milk tea is pretty basic and bland but then so is your boyfriend. It tastes good and that's what matters (unlike your boyfriend). I've also had the Taro and Lychee which were both a bit too sweet, but can be ordered with less ice - so I suggest you do so. They were really good, though, although again - I have yet to find anything here that would make me rush back and knock over customers to demand to be served my favourite bubble tea instantly. Because that is totally my usual type of behaviour. Especially when I'm around your boyfriend. But really, you won't get better Bubble Tea in Cleveland (I've tried them all), and the service is wonderful (if the younger girl is there, especially), so stop by Phusion and end the ConPhusion about who has The Land's best BT. I mean, ConPhusios liked it, so it must be good. Anyway I have to go. I have to catch a lightning bolt at the clock tower so I can go back to the Phusion. Which will go something like this. Doc: Unfortunately we never know when or where good Bubble Tea is going to strike. Marty: (Pulls up the page for Phusion Cafe) We do now. Doc: Great Scott! This is it! If we could somehow harness this Bubble Tea. Channel it into the Boba Capacitor. It just might work. Marty: Whoa, this Bubble Tea is heavy, Doc. Doc: Marty, next Saturday night, we're sending you Back... to the Phusion!

    beef noodle soup

Food is decent. The taiwanese chicken was my favorite, 10/10. The beef noodle soup was ok, could have used a little more flavor. But the beef itself was so tender. The Taiwanese cold noodle was not too great. A little bland and all the noodles somewhat clumped together. We also got their lychee and passionfruit drinks. Strangely, they didn't have ice? So our drinks were lukewarm, no ice, and still a bit frothy. Also, customer service was a bit strange, as the person at the front didn't seem to know answers to questions I had about the food, very quiet, and just felt awkward overall. I'd come back probably for takeout and try some different things.

I came to Cleveland for an interview from Houston (second largest chinatown in US), so I was not expecting much in terms of Asian food scene. However, as soon as I found a Taiwanese place, I knew I gotta check it out. Upon entering, I could tell the shop owner was Taiwanese from his accent, and we hit it off real well from the start. He was very friendly with customers, and he even joked that if I don't have money to pay cuz i'm a poor student, I can do the dishes. Onto the food. I got the braised chicken thigh rice. It was pretty standard taiwanese set meals with some ground pork sauce over rice, veggies on the side (asparagus in this case), and a braised egg. Good portion size in meat and rice, and owner offered me more rice if I needed it. It may not be the best thing in the world, but it tasted homemade to me like how my mother would make it, so I was very surprised. The milk tea tasted very much like ones I would get for breakfast in Taipei on the streets. The curry beef pancake was very flavorful, and I loved the sauce. Overall, 5 stars for service and the home-made feel. It definitely was not 100% authentic or the best taiwanese food I've ever had, but it was comforting and got my Asian food fix. Will definitely come back if I return to the city!

    A11. Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken

I love Taiwanese food and was super excited to eat here. They didn't have the braised pork belly (they said something about it being a seasonal dish) which made me sad! Instead, I opted for the braised pork with rice and an order of the popcorn chicken. Braised pork with rice was basically minced pork with rice. Wasn't really what I was expecting, but oh well. As for the popcorn chicken it was nothing like traditional popcorn chicken! Taiwanese popcorn chicken is coated in five spice and is juicy and crispy. They use a different type of seasoning and batter here. Again, not what I was expecting when I think of popcorn chicken.

First time to visit. I was pleasantly surprised to find this hole-in-the-wall, home-style Taiwanese restaurant. Ordered the braised pork belly plate. Was nice to have sides of green beans, napa cabbage, seasoned ground pork, and a hard cooked egg. The pork belly melted in my mouth and was braised in a flavorful yet mild sauce. The owner was nice, and also proud of his establishment. Next time I'm in town, I'm coming back.

    Chicken quarter
    Cameron Q.

I like their chicken quarter very much. The reason I give them a 3 is their popcorn chicken. Their popcorn chicken is the worst popcorn chicken I ever have so far. It was so hard and looked very weird. I tasted the breading more than the chicken. I was hoping to taste the five spice flavor, there was no to little flavor. My friend and I couldn't bring ourselves to finish up that popcorn chicken. However, the chicken quarter was pretty good value and yummy.

Good chicken but needs more peanut butter
    Lindsey S.

Walked here with my co-worker to get some lunch to go. We were happily greeted when entering this tiny shop that only has a few tables. My co-worker had been here several times before and recommended trying any of their chicken dishes. I ended choosing the peanut butter chicken rice bowl. After opening my meal back at my desk I then saw that the peanut butter was a drizzle on top that didn't even get to all of the chicken (or any of the rice) and not an all over sauce as I expected it would be. If I had known this I would have asked for more. While disappointed with the lack of sauce, I am very happy with the chicken. That chicken is awesome! It may take me a minute, but I'll be back to try out another chicken dish.

Lobe it! The place is very small, I see many people take out there food. It is not tasty as an expensive resturant, but probably the only one "real" Chinese home kitchen in the local area. The price is really reasonable. cheaper than the utana noodle. handemake dumpline is really made by hand. bubble tea is made by real tea. I would come here more often. pork belly and pork feet are recommended. somethong I dont like: shrmp Wonton noodle is not Cantounes version. the noodle is different and there is no a whole shrimp in each wonton. I guess it is a Taiwaness version. fine with thay, I just prefer the other version. fried chicken piece is too dry to me.

    Jenny L.

3.5 stars. I'm liking this restaurant's concept. The menu is extensive and mostly comprised of inexpensive appetizer-like dishes that you can share with a small group. I first ordered the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and while I have had better elsewhere, it wasn't bad at all. The portion size is reasonable for the cost. I then tried the scallion pancakes which needed more flavor so I used a sweet red sauce that was provided to dip it in. I enjoyed the fried dumplings the most. The wrapper was thicker than what I am used to but I actually enjoyed that aspect of it. Yes, this place is quite small, but most people order to go anyways so I don't think getting a table will be a problem if you plan on dining in. Phusion is a good place to go if you're not too hungry and just want some small bites, but don't expect anything amazing.

Pleasantly surprised to find a new Phusion Cafe location in the Uptown/University Circle area! This is a small cafe right across the street from the Cleveland Institute of Art, serving Taiwanese-style Night Market food (I.e. popcorn chicken, fried meats and ribs, egg rolls, scallion pancakes, potstickers, etc) as well as main course dishes like noodle soups, rice bowls, and sandwiches/crepes. They also provide what seems like unlimited combos of boba - just take a look at that elegantly organized menu written on the wall! Set up like a true night market stall, this cafe can seat around 16 people (perhaps 20 if you squish). Prices are reasonable - most noodles are less than $10, and most appetizers are less than $6. If you go for the Hakka style meats, those are about $13. There are so many things to try, so don't be shy about asking the owner for some recommendations or peeking over at what the table next to you is eating. For starters, I recommend trying the Taiwanese popcorn chicken for a good crunch (red sauce could maybe use an extra spice kick), and the Beef Noodle soup, with a Passion Fruit Bubble Tea (+lychee jelly) to balance the savory with sweet. From there, adventure on with your taste buds!

We stopped in here for lunch after our trip to the Asian Store. I found Phusion on Yelp, of course. The place has street parking only from what we could see. Considering it's only 10 degrees in Cleveland today, we weren't out looking for a lot. The place is very small and part of a few shared businesses in the building. Look for the red awning over the door or you may pass it up. We asked our hostess what was really good. She told us the beef noodle soup. We both got that, a scallion pancake & a shrimp egg roll each. Everything was outstanding. The soup had a wonderful broth and the bits of pickled radish really made it pop. The egg rolls were stuffed with shrimp and really good and the scallion pancake was not greasy and had great flavor. I look forward to coming back to Phusion to try more on the menu.

    New dining hall #1
    Steven N.

This place used to be a very small place with only two or three tables. Now the owner has expanded the shop to include a clean and new dining hall next door that could accommodate so much more people. As always, the owner was very friendly and even gave us extra food! I tried out the hakka tofu bowl (vegetarian) this time just as fun, and to my surprise it tastes just as authentic as the other meat dishes. Definitely recommend!

Authentic as can be as far as aesthetics, service, and food. The pork buns may be some of the best I've had and on par with anything better. The texture was perfect moist, soft, and airy. The pork did not deviate from well done traditional dim sum and there was no surprise flavor alteration. The pork was sliced, not scrappings, well cooked, and fresh. The wonton soup was good, I've had better, but really good. The chicken low mein was good, I've had better, but it shouldn't disappoint you at all! The dumplings had a great flavor profile with a welcoming hint of ginger. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food look no further!

There was one particular time dinning here when the service was terrible, our wait time was egregiously long, and to top it off, the staff were really rude to my parents (the nicest, calmest people). That self-induced ban lasted almost 2 decades and I came back in 2022 at the invitation of my daughter's friend's family. The place was SWARMING and we had to wait for our table. There is free parking but it's limited and usually full up on the weekend. Cart service was quick but I had to go over to the dessert ones to get them to come to our table. Offerings were pretty standard and thankfully, the taste was overall pretty good. Nothing was cold, everything was steaming hot. Wish they had a few more items to select from. The restaurant space should be expanded by now since they are so popular. It's impossible to walk around with all the big tables and people squeezed together. Afterwards, I bought all the kids boba smoothies from their bar in the corner (smart thing to have apart from the dim sum). They upped their prices over the years but portions are the same. Still more affordable than Lao Sichuan in Pinecrest but not impressed with the auto 18% added to the bill (because...weekends?). Cleveland needs more dim sum options! I have dined here for dinner once upon a time as well and I remember the dishes being pretty good and authentic but those memories are from circa 1999-2000 so back in ancient times.
