I highly recommend Medic Up. I attended their 16 hour initial CCW training and it was amazing. As…read moresomeone who likes to be prepared, I appreciated the emails from Juan clearly outlining the expectations for the training, including what to bring, maps showing where to go, and paperwork to fill out ahead of time. As a relative beginner when it comes to firearms, I was a pretty nervous going into it but everyone on the Medic Up team was so professional and patient. They had good senses of humor too, which made the class fun and eased my nerves. There were 18 people in my training, and plenty of instructors. Someone was always there to help me when I needed it. Victor and Sebastian helped me with my grip and trigger pull which significantly improved my accuracy. Not only are these guys very knowledgeable and skilled when it comes to firearms, you can tell they are passionate about it as well. Beyond actually shooting a gun, they also provided education regarding life saving measures and the importance of legal representation. Matt led the legal portion, and he had a vast understanding of every bill/law pertaining to 2A rights. It was very eye opening and inspired me to do my own research. Sebastian presented the medical info and you can tell he knows his stuff. He demonstrated how to respond to gun shot wounds to different parts of the body, such as using a tourniquet, packing a wound, or using a chest seal. When I got home I ordered a few more things for my emergency kit based off his recommendations. Day 2 was in a classroom, led by Randy. He was incredibly knowledgeable and answered every question and hypothetical situation thrown at him. He provided a lot of clarity regarding when you can legally defend yourself using your firearm. Also, I received my course completion certificate from Juan by the end of the day. Overall, this was a very organized, well-rounded course led by professionals. Despite my nerves going into it, there wasn't a moment where I regretted being there or felt uncomfortable. TBH I liked it so much I wish it was longer! It was engaging and informative and I walked away learning way more than I thought I would. I am excited to continue to hone my skills and I will definitely be taking more courses with Medic Up in the future.

10/10 Weekend and experience, I can't recommend MedicUp ENOUGH!…read more I found MedicUp Consulting through various recommendations on the CaGuns reddit. Every single review had high praise and spoke to the level of professionalism that the instructors brought to the class. Now I get it! Ron, Juan, Randy, Victor and Matt made this an incredible weekend that I will always be grateful for. Before this class, there were alot of things I was unsure about in regards to carrying, legalities, and mindset. We live in an age where everyone on the internet can give an opinion or advice, no matter how bad or wrong it may be. After this weekend, I feel both confident and comfortable in my understanding now. You get REAL answers and advice from active and retired law enforcement officers. They dont bullshit you or try to sell you fluff. And man, they know how to have a good time and keep things fun. 16 hours flew by and left me wanting to come back just to hang with them again! No matter how simple or basic a question you may have, they never make you feel stupid, nor put you down, and they really take the time to address ANYTHING. I never felt like I was just a customer or paycheck. Truly felt like I was welcomed into the family. During the live portion and quals, there wasnt a SINGLE mishap nor moment where anyone felt or did anything unsafe. Not once! It just goes to show how on it they are, and how well they can articulate, teach, and enforce safety. I'm thankful for all of the skills and information I took away this weekend, but probably the best/most useful was practicing and applying tourniquets in the Stop The Bleed portion. With MedicUp, you get what you pay for and MORE. I can't wait to be back in 2 years for my renewals, but more than likely I'll see yall again sooner for either the lowlight or shotgun class. Thank you guys again for such a FUCKING AWESOME weekend!

I was refused service here after the owner flat-out accused me of possessing an illegal federally…read moreregulated SBR, which is not only wrong, but an embarrassing level of wrong for someone running a gun store for 42 "effin" years as he so confidently told me. Laughable that a person can be doing something this long and still not know what the eff they are talking about. An upper receiver is not a firearm under federal law (27 CFR § 478.12), is not serialized, and is not regulated on its own. Barrel length by itself does not magically create an SBR. An SBR determination requires a rifle with a shoulder stock and a barrel under 16 inches (26 U.S.C. § 5845(a), (c)). That determination depends entirely on the serialized lower receiver--which in my case is a legally owned and DOJ-registered semi-automatic pistol, not a rifle, and is configured to be California compliant under California Penal Code § 30515. This is basic, entry-level firearms law. Being incorrect is one thing. Being aggressively, confidently incorrect--and then doubling down when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about--is something else entirely. Instead of listening or checking the law, the owner insisted I was committing a serious federal felony and spoke to me in a hostile, unprofessional manner and cursed at me, all while in front of other patrons. Embarrassing for him to say the least. This is peak FUDD behavior: outdated knowledge, refusal to learn, and ego over facts. Shops like this don't just inconvenience customers--they actively spread misinformation that can get people in real trouble, especially in California. If you've been "in the business for 42 years" and still don't understand the difference between an upper receiver, an SBR, and a compliant AR pistol, that's not experience--that's willful ignorance. Do yourself a favor and avoid gun stores that let pride replace competence.

During the online purchase process, Sako suggested a few FFL's, and Guns LA was one of them. I said yep, although I had never been here, and away we go. A few weeks later, I received an email notice that the rifle had arrived at Guns LA, and I drove over to go through the transfer drill. They buzzed me right in, I was greeted by a couple of the guys, and they handled everything right away. Typical easy California transfer: pages of paperwork, produce CDL, provide DNA sample, raise your right hand and swear you are not a communist or a Klingon, take a polygraph...the usual drill. Because they have a highly Yelp rated gunsmith, I handed them the Leopold scope and mounting rings I had purchased and asked them to mount it (yeah...as if I could have mounted it). No problemo. Ten long days later, I returned (and yes, the DROS paperwork stamps the exact minute from the ten days you started the process and you are damn RIGHT I was there at the exact minute to accept my rifle). They gave me a break on the price of mounting the scope since I did the transfer paperwork there, which was generous and unexpected. Everything was perfect. Although I live in Pasadena, and there are closer gun shops, I would absolutely go to these guys again. Thumbs up and thank you!

I had an excellent experience at Guns LA in Burbank and can't recommend them enough…read more About a year ago, I purchased a handgun from another dealer that has since permanently closed. Recently, I noticed some parts were coming loose and was concerned about safety. I reached out to a few shops, and while the first place was willing to help, I felt like they were more focused on trying to sell me something rather than genuinely helping with my issue. Thankfully, I found Guns LA right around the corner. After seeing their great reviews on Yelp and Google, I decided to stop by and I'm so glad I did. Deon helped me from the start and was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. He never made me feel uncomfortable and took the time to explain everything clearly. Not only did he inspect and fix my firearm, but he also spent time teaching me how to properly use my Holosun sight and gave me helpful tips to improve my shooting. He even shared a flyer for private training lessons, which I really appreciated. Best of all, there was zero pressure to buy anything. He genuinely cared about helping me, not making a sale. When I returned to pick up my handgun, Deon and Mike explained that the previous dealer had actually left out some important parts, something they couldn't believe. Luckily, Guns LA has a certified gunsmith on staff (apparently one of the only ones within a 20-mile radius), and they took great care of everything. I'm extremely grateful to have found this place. They've earned my trust and my business. I'll definitely be coming back for future purchases, and they're now the only shop I'll trust with my handguns and AR-15. Highly recommend Guns LA if you're looking for honest, professional, and knowledgeable service! Big thank you to Deon

My instructor, Eloy, is both funny and a hardass. Safety first! Their instruction revealed gaps in my knowledge that previous classes never addressed, to the point where I seriously questioned whether I was truly worthy of the responsibility of carrying. What sets Seven 4 Para apart is the depth of their expertise, real-world experience, and unwavering professionalism. They took me to an entirely new level in safety, technique, and situational awareness. My initial CCW class two years ago felt like a rubber stamp by comparison--no real challenge, no deep accountability. If you're serious about elevating your gun ownership, self-defense skills, and overall responsibility, this class is exceptional. The volume of essential information packed into 16 hours is intensive but absolutely necessary. Eloy and Alec go above and beyond to ensure every student truly understands the concepts--they won't sign off until they're confident you're safe, capable, and respectful of the responsibility. No shortcuts, no rubber stamps here. Huge thanks to the entire Seven 4 Para team for investing the time to advance my knowledge, sharpen my respect for carrying, and improve my decision-making under pressure. This training was worth far more than the cost--it's an investment in safety and peace of mind.
