We adopted a wild beast named Willow from this organization...being told it was a shy cat…read more We fear the cat may have been drugged to be more adoptable as we have never seen any animal act as this one did, and we are in our mid-60s! The beast hid under a day bed for a week. It ate, drank & used the catbox, but we never saw it. Then there was a large pile of feces in our Dining Room which caused our decision to return it. My husband moved some boxes stored under the day bed to retrieve Willow while talking baby talk to her. She brutally attacked both of his hands causing deep puncture wounds and tremendous bleeding. We closed the door to the room so she couldn't go hide anywhere else. She literally flew thru the room!!! I mean LITERALLY FLEW THRU THE ROOM!!! She knocked pictures off the wall & broke stuff! She bit him so hard and so deep in BOTH hands that he was screaming! As he was profusely bleeding, he managed to grab her and get her into the bathtub....where she flew around inside (doors closed) smearing the glass doors!! My husband is a Musician & his hands are necessary for him to work and support us. We went to Urgent Care who made us go to the E.R. X-rays were taken showing no teeth bits or broken bones, but there was still a huge possibility of tendon damage & an infection. We were referred to a Hand Surgeon, but we had to wait over a weekend to see him & worry ourselves sick that a 50-year career was over as he was totally helpless & could do nothing for himself with either hand! We had to thoroughly wash his painful hands twice a day & change the bandages. He could not sleep due to the serious pain & lost 10 pounds in 3 days, not only from the pain, but from the sheer fear of losing his career! When we saw the Hand Surgeon on Monday, he said the next few days were critical & referred him to Hand Therapy which started Tuesday. My husband also had a very hard time with the serious antibiotics & pain meds causing him to suffer greatly. Thank God we have insurance as these people never so much as apologized nor called to check on my husband. They did retrieve the beast the following day. It had to be quarantined as we were required to file a Bite Report with Maricopa County Animal Control. We also filed a Complaint with PetCo, but have not heard back from them. We are out money even though we have insurance. No one from Save the Cats Arizona nor PetCo has stepped up to the plate & offered to help with our expenses nor anything for my husband's tremendous suffering & pain. Real quality organizations, eh? Like we said... BEWARE!!! This was our first time in a PetCo as we do all our shopping at PetSmart which we will continue to do. We will never set foot in a PetCo again. Once was too much! As of today, if Save the Cats Arizona decides not to put the beast down, you could unwittingly take it into your home! We would NEVER adopt from this organization again nor allow anyone we care about to do so either. These sure appear to be the worst nightmare to be handling adoptions of cats to unsuspecting hopefuls. If we could give negative stars, we surely would!!!!

We adopted a cat from them at Petco at Metro Center, when I questioned the " we can not guarantee…read morethe animals health" part of their contract the woman told me don't worry shes healthy but Petco makes us put that on there if we wanted to adopt her we had to agre to it, ok great filled it out and took kitty home. Less than 36 hours later we found a mass onm the kittys jaw line. I tried calling the number on the adoption paperwork but of course it was no good, I called to talk to the woman at petco who told me I had to take kitty to their vet in scottsdale and the only contact was through email. And accused me of not paying the adoption fee and told me I had to come to petco and pay it..Nope..not putting my banking information in your phone. I checked paypal and they hadn't accepted the payment I made, so When given the correct information I resubmitted the payment immediately and PayPal verified that it has been accepted. I have emails spanning 5 days of Dawn Cavanaugh claiming kitty is healthy , even after she was diagnosed with Stomatosis and the vet recommended a biopsy of the mass on her jawline and FIV/Feline Leukemia testing. I made very clear throughout the email communications that I expected my monies refunded as the kitty is not healthy and of course when we returned her to the rescue I was accused of not paying the adoption fee and dishonesty. And I'm not getting a refund. I am communicating with Petco Cares and Paypal about this but beware !!

We adopted our first from them about 5 years ago and have adopted quite a few more since then. Everyone with the rescue has always been super helpful about matching us with the cat that is the right fit for our family and they have always been super responsive about getting back to us about any follow up questions we have had such as how to integrate a high energy Bengal kitten into our family of mellow older cats. Our fur babies are happy and healthy and All About Animals has become our rescue of choice each time we decide to expand our 4 legged family.

It's taken me almost three years to write this review…read more My beloved cat Sophie had been sick for a long time and I thought she just had food allergies or something. I took her to a local vet here in Laveen a handful of times and they'd barely touch her because she was kind of wild at the vet, like most cats. Anyway, she started to deteriorate quickly and finally I made the longer drive to this vet. Within seconds, he felt her body and told us she had a tumor. An xray and ultrasound I requested confirmed this and unfortunately she was not able to be saved. Like any pet owner I was full of grief, guilt and regret. To this day I feel responsible and wish I had taken her to a CAT VETERINARIAN from the start, specifically Larkspur Cat Clinic. I still have three cats and despite the long drive, under no circumstances will I ever take my cats anywhere else for anything. This guy knows cats. He's like a cat mechanic/whisperer. How could he find out what was wrong with Sophie by feeling her body for a few seconds while this other vet couldn't after multiple visits? To me there's no excuse and I know it can be complicated but they could've recommended she go somewhere else if they didn't know!!! If you love your cat, like REALLY love your cat (as I did and do), GO HERE AND DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE. I brought my sick kitten in with…read moresignificant respiratory symptoms, congestion, conjunctivitis, a tongue ulcer, and concerning breathing issues. During the appointment, the veterinarian and I discussed starting an antiviral medication. However, when I was checking out, the technician refused to ask the veterinarian about the antiviral we had discussed, leading to an argument at a time when I was already extremely worried about my kitten. What was most concerning was that my kitten was mouth breathing and acting ill and withdrawn. Rather than leaving reassured, I left feeling that my concerns were being dismissed. As a pet owner, I should not have to argue to have a question relayed to the veterinarian, especially when my kitten's condition appeared serious enough that I was considering taking her directly to an emergency veterinary hospital from the clinic. I also found it difficult to communicate with the veterinarian, who often spoke with his eyes closed, making the interaction feel detached and unengaged. When a young kitten is declining, owners need clear communication, responsiveness, and a willingness to promptly re-evaluate when concerns persist. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Overall, I left feeling unheard, frustrated, and lacking confidence in the care my kitten received. I cannot recommend this clinic based on my experience.
