The chicken ball! This picture does no justice. Chicken, stuffing, mash potatoes deep fried goodness

Chicken ball, chicken ball, chicken ball!!! I've been her many times now. Never had a bad meal regardless of what I eat. Chicken balls are Monday and Saturday. It worth a special trip to the area.

Wonderful place to grab a bite to eat with an awesome staff that makes you feel like old friends. Visiting from out of town and had lunch on our way home. Had the Chicken Ball (which is a MUST if you are there when they make it). The cheese stuffed tater tots were awesome as well. The restaurant was very clean. Make sure you check out the Phoenix stained glass frame that's displayed in the main dining room and get the back story of how the owner acquired it!

Chicken Ball. If you don't order this you're sure to endure a mediocre meal. This is delicious! Like thanksgiving meatball!

Fun little place! The food is nothing to write home about, but you MUST try the Chicken Ball! It's only available on Saturday and Monday so make sure they are serving it before you get there or you'll be verrrry disappointed. Don't bother getting the sample platter. It's small and could serve as a one-person meal. The tuna melt was good as well. Get the fries with brown gravy. It's really good! If you don't upgrade for the fries you'll end up with boring Ruffle Lays, not even the Pennsylvania homemade chips!

Fabulous accessibility thank you so much for caring. Nice artichoke dip and the Reuben was tasty too!

A great mix of bar food and home cooking. Everything from wings to home made meatloaf. Best wings in town. Relaxing and casual.

Stop looking at the menu and order the chicken ball! The Phoenix is a must have when I'm in J-town.

Best eatery in Johnstown. Great food and terrific service. I visit at least twice a week for lunch.

As a rule, the daily specials are highly recommended and two members of our party loved the cod special. I wanted to try the Picanha steak, and it did not disappoint. My wife had the non-traditional spring lasagna, which was loaded with fresh vegetables, and gave it positive reviews. Service was professional and prompt. The wine list is limited, but serves the purpose. We sat in the bar area in front, which was pleasant enough. There is a small dining room in the rear if one wishes to get away from the bar. If you're in the Johnstown vicinity, L&G is worth going out of your way for.

Everything tastes homey but polished, like what you'd cook for a special dinner. The vibes are chill but smart -- great spot dropped right into downtown. I've already been back twice!

I'm going to be honest, I have drove past this unassuming building in Johnstown for years without…read moreeven knowing it wasn't deserted, but that it was diamond in the rough. In this part of Johnstown, it definitely is a rough area. Parking is either on street or across the street in a gravel parking lot beneath a billboard. If you do park in that lot, do be carful crossing the street as it can be a busy one. Plus there is a slight curve that a driver might not see you while your rush across the street. Once inside you can tell that it lives up to the bar and grill in its name. It has this look inside that gives off this 80s dining vibe. One that calls back to those eateries once found in the mall. You know, those ones where it's almost too dark to see yourself let alone the menu. One where it is very dark wood, heavy on the brick, and all things that make you feel like your in and old time inn. Once settled at a table, we had our menus in hand and were given some time to look them over. Our server came back, took our drink orders and left us for a few more minutes to finalize our decisions considering the menu. Once we decided orders were place and we just waited for our food to come out. It gave us time to look around the place and take in our surroundings. When we first got here, there weren't many people. As we ordered, there were more and more customers that came in. Filling up the tables and making it feel warmer. We were in the midst of conversation and our food came out. I ordered the Franklin Street Bar & Grill Famous Meatloaf. This comes with a slice of the thickest homemade meatloaf I have ever seen. Plopped on top of a pile of mashed potatoes then topped with fried onion rings and smothered in brown gravy. This thing, even though not exactly as described and pictured, was delicious. Not sure if it is fame worthy as I have never heard of it, but hey, I will make sure to remember this when in the area again. To note, entrees are served with your choice of soup, salad, or applesauce, and comes with a homemade dinner roll. The service here is stellar. They all go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and their memory is like a vice grip. One thing you do need to keep on your toes about here, watch your step. With the dimness and small step ups, it would be easy to trip. They do have signs everywhere, but they can be hard to spot if you aren't aware of your surroundings.
