The seats in the actual cinema are soft, warm and comfy with plenty of leg room. There's a sofa aisle in the middle and back of the cinema which you can book at no extra cost. I image they're the first to go though. Bad points: There are no tables inside the cinema so they don't recommend bringing in actual dishes from the restaurant side of the cinema. Snacks and drinks are seriously expensive (but no more than any other cinema). Tickets cost £13.50 plus a £1.50 booking fee.

This picturehouse is one of many in the chain. I go to the newly opened Central one now quite a bit but this new one is now my closest. It has about 5-6 screens and I went to see Bridge of Spies on screen 4. The sound could have been a tad louder and I think there was not much surround sound. Saying that I mentioned this to manager and they mentioned it would in future. I went on officially it's 4th day of opening. I was told screen 5 is a favourite because it is intimate and has only about 26 seats. Cool. I asked to see screen 1, their prize biggest screen because i might see Star Wars there soon. The seats are like sofa seats. All of them. And there are double seats. The screen was higher than usual because they have a platform ready for future Q&A's. I will go see that screen but not sure it's best for something quite as epic as Star Wars. There's a nice cafe downstairs to people watch, and a main restaurant to see even better looking down upon Main Street. All in all. I liked my it's visit. Comfy, obviously clean and nice staff. Will be back for more to check other screens too. UPDATE - DEC '15: Checked out the brand new Crouch End PH. Kicking rainy Mondays onto the curb with it's cheap tickets! Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks have made a great film with Bridge of Spies. Written by the Coen Brothers a real classic spy/war film. Love a bit of espionage! The cinema itself was lovely. Nicely laid out with cafe at bottom and many screens dotted around. I went into Screen 4 and it had good sound. Next time I will try for their main one.

This is where the Everyman steps in. It prides itself on a whole different attitude to screening and no corners are cut as they deliver their stylish and comfortable ethos. There are two lovely reception lounges where you can enjoy a pre movie drink and a cloakroom that really makes a difference when you've just come in from the rain. Need somewhere to stash your golf brolly whilst you enjoy the film? No problem. The two screening lounges are both filled with big, comfy armchairs and sofas (no standard seat rows in sight), a mini table for your treats and most even have a wine cooler at the side. All the seats are also waited on by efficient service staff so you don't even need to queue for your peppadews and Italian bread. I recommend that you book, if only to get the best seats (choose from the online seating plan). Try the sofa 7/8 on row E, Screening Lounge 1, perfect for cuddling up on. The only thing they leave for you to do is to put your feet up and wait for the film to start. They've got the rest covered

You can watch a film without a child kicking the back of your chair or throwing popcorn about the place and you can get drinks and bar snacks served right to your seat. Brilliant! Next time I want the even more luxurious seats at the back which looked more comfy than the average ones and I believe may even have had foot rests. A full bar and decent selection of sweet and savoury snacks. I love a glass of wine with my film so this place gets a huge thumbs up from me on that alone. It is expensive, but no more expensive than seeing a film at a cinema in Leicester Square and billion times better! They need more of these cinemas over London!

Cheap - it ain't £12-14 (dependant on reclining or not) and let's be frank, a bowl of chilli stuffed olives and rosemary mixed nuts or one sweet craving of white chocolate covered bananas with cocktails can set you back enough to skip dinner entirely, but I have seen some thoroughly exhausting movies here ( Brad Bitt becomes infant - cough cough), and leather reclining seats with mojitos made that experience something almost enjoyable. If I had one critique, it would be fairly obvious one as a former resident - more selection/invention/events please. Any possibility of an 'event' generally requires Baker or Hampstead here - but for an experience beyond movie watching that feels akin to first class lounging try it.

Screen 8 where we watched the movie was a large theater room, which is what you want for such an action movie I think. Boyfriend pointed out it wasn't edge to edge (so there might be even better options out there), but I didn't even notice that before he mentioned it and thought the huge screen and great sound system did the job. Sound was loud enough without being deafening, so just right imo. The seats we got were in the very center in front of the walkway (so no rows of seats in front of us, yet we're not too close), which I would absolutely recommend!

Given that, I can't see why Vue is worth going to. I didn't realise before coming here, but a standard ticket on a Sunday afternoon was £12.99 in what must have been one of their smaller screens. Come on. Bear in mind we're not in zone 1, Leicester Square premiere central. I can think of several cinemas that would do far cheaper tickets (obviously especially if you go on their deal days), but also, if you do want to spend over a tenner on a ticket, then for goodness' sake go to an Everyman or something. I think that's about £1.50 more expensive and you get a sofa and a waiter, plus there are a couple pretty close to this Vue. (Nevermind paying £8.99 for a popcorn and drink.) The screen we were in was also really odd - it was a large screen but only four rows of seats, and they were very close to the screen itself. It was quite hard to actually see the whole screen because we were so pushed up against it. It didn't make for an enjoyable viewing experience. That was also only once we got into it - the movie started late because the lights were off, the place wasn't set up, and nobody knew why. Pretty weird and overpriced place.

A very representable price tag. I think we even attended on a crazy Monday and got half price tickets. They have a bar in the waiting area where you can buy drinks of all sorts and sweets or ice cream (no popcorn if I remember rightly) which is prob a good and less busy place to pop in for a cuppa anytime anyway. The cinema itself usually has most higher rated films showing on release and extremely generous seating throughout. Screen are on the smaller side but overall that doesn't detract from the experience unless you want an IMAX experience or something totally in your face. Barbican is definitely worth a trip for those wanting to avoid mainstream cinemas. Xyz

Oddly, when we bought our tickets, he showed us a tattered seating chart and asked us which seats we'd like, but had to look up our request in the computer to see if they're already taken, which led to the following conversation: "how about those?" "sorry I'm afraid those are taken. "how about those?" "sorry I'm afraid..." etc. The one twist was the classy food - scones, quiche, and an extensive wine list - which we weren't expecting. I got a glass of wine for the movie and the girl working the bar was really sweet and commented on my accent and asked where I was from. There are cheap wine options but most of the concessions are overpriced as you would expect from a theatre. I found the seats (recliners) to be quite comfortable and there was much more room in front of them than I had come to expect from theatres in the US. Not sure if that's standard in the UK but it was a pleasant surprise. The screen was a tad on the small side but the audio/visual elements were all great. The neighbourhood isn't the nicest but didn't feel unsafe, just a little less posh than other parts of London. Would return, although there are other Odeon locations that are closer to me that I'd be more inclined to visit.

I suggest that if you're going to watch one of the blockbusters here, to double-check in advance at which of the 8 rooms they're showing that film at a given time. Because, what happens is that when, for example, a new Harry Potter movie comes out, they show it at 10 different times during the day, but maybe only 3 of these showings are taking place at the cinema with the big screen (auditorium # 1 & #2). After the movie, I suggest you have dinner at this fantastic Indian restaurant, called Indian Ocean, not far away from the cinema. (See my review of the Indian Ocean for what to order!) At this point I would like to bitch about the Odeon group in general: I find it outrageous that they don't have a toll-free number that I can call when I need information for an upcoming showtime. But even worse, not only do I have to pay for this phone call, but I also have to listen to a computerised message for a few minutes (explaining to me that I should check out their website!!!) before I can actually speak to a person! I find this to be gruesome customer service...bless American companies for being so generous with their 1-800 numbers!
