Next time I want the even more luxurious seats at the back which looked more comfy than the average ones and I believe may even have had foot rests. A full bar and decent selection of sweet and savoury snacks. I love a glass of wine with my film so this place gets a huge thumbs up from me on that alone. It is expensive, but no more expensive than seeing a film at a cinema in Leicester Square and billion times better! They need more of these cinemas over London!

Any possibility of an 'event' generally requires Baker or Hampstead here - but for an experience beyond movie watching that feels akin to first class lounging try it.

Me: "Erm, can I see where's available?" Her: "No, I've stuck you in the middle." - Ridiculously priced tickets. Over £19 for two adult tickets - and they weren't even the "luxury seats"! Really? The Everyman cinemas are about the same and they have nice staff, waiter service to your seat and A BAR! - Dirty toilets that leave you feeling grimy. - Stale popcorn and sticky floors. Other than that, it was great! I won't be returning if I can help it.

I have always been a fan of Vue Cinema because having been to four or five of them in London they seem consistant in their facilities and decor. There is nothing worse to me than getting really excited to see a movie that has been newly released for which you have waited to see for several months, only to find you get stuck behind some six foot giant. Now that is why I like Vue in North Finchley. You see one thing I always check before visiting a cinema is are the seats stadium style? I mean when the seats are all on one level you sit there hoping and praying you do not get an adult sitting in front of you Ahhh! Leaning to one side for two hours is no fun. However, all of the theatres in Vue North Finchley are stadium style so the seat in front of you is lower than yours giving you a perfect view regardless. The prices are less than in the city centre and cheaper before 5pm Mon-Fri. It does get busy during the evening so bring your debit card and pay at the machines.

The seats in the actual cinema are soft, warm and comfy with plenty of leg room. There's a sofa aisle in the middle and back of the cinema which you can book at no extra cost. I image they're the first to go though. Bad points: There are no tables inside the cinema so they don't recommend bringing in actual dishes from the restaurant side of the cinema. Snacks and drinks are seriously expensive (but no more than any other cinema). Tickets cost £13.50 plus a £1.50 booking fee.

This picturehouse is one of many in the chain. I go to the newly opened Central one now quite a bit but this new one is now my closest. It has about 5-6 screens and I went to see Bridge of Spies on screen 4. The sound could have been a tad louder and I think there was not much surround sound. Saying that I mentioned this to manager and they mentioned it would in future. I went on officially it's 4th day of opening. I was told screen 5 is a favourite because it is intimate and has only about 26 seats. Cool. I asked to see screen 1, their prize biggest screen because i might see Star Wars there soon. The seats are like sofa seats. All of them. And there are double seats. The screen was higher than usual because they have a platform ready for future Q&A's. I will go see that screen but not sure it's best for something quite as epic as Star Wars. There's a nice cafe downstairs to people watch, and a main restaurant to see even better looking down upon Main Street. All in all. I liked my it's visit. Comfy, obviously clean and nice staff. Will be back for more to check other screens too. UPDATE - DEC '15: Checked out the brand new Crouch End PH. Kicking rainy Mondays onto the curb with it's cheap tickets! Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks have made a great film with Bridge of Spies. Written by the Coen Brothers a real classic spy/war film. Love a bit of espionage! The cinema itself was lovely. Nicely laid out with cafe at bottom and many screens dotted around. I went into Screen 4 and it had good sound. Next time I will try for their main one.

Screen 8 where we watched the movie was a large theater room, which is what you want for such an action movie I think. Boyfriend pointed out it wasn't edge to edge (so there might be even better options out there), but I didn't even notice that before he mentioned it and thought the huge screen and great sound system did the job. Sound was loud enough without being deafening, so just right imo. The seats we got were in the very center in front of the walkway (so no rows of seats in front of us, yet we're not too close), which I would absolutely recommend!

Given that, I can't see why Vue is worth going to. I didn't realise before coming here, but a standard ticket on a Sunday afternoon was £12.99 in what must have been one of their smaller screens. Come on. Bear in mind we're not in zone 1, Leicester Square premiere central. I can think of several cinemas that would do far cheaper tickets (obviously especially if you go on their deal days), but also, if you do want to spend over a tenner on a ticket, then for goodness' sake go to an Everyman or something. I think that's about £1.50 more expensive and you get a sofa and a waiter, plus there are a couple pretty close to this Vue. (Nevermind paying £8.99 for a popcorn and drink.) The screen we were in was also really odd - it was a large screen but only four rows of seats, and they were very close to the screen itself. It was quite hard to actually see the whole screen because we were so pushed up against it. It didn't make for an enjoyable viewing experience. That was also only once we got into it - the movie started late because the lights were off, the place wasn't set up, and nobody knew why. Pretty weird and overpriced place.

Instead security were fed-up with the behaviour of the manager and asked us to complain to the company Vue and the shopping centre. CS gave me 2x free tickets (worth £5 given Meerkat 2-4-1) which ran out during Covid so never used and CS refused to re-send.

Noted for it's spacious couch seating, waiters to bring you the snacks you ordered, and a little table to keep it all on, it is a little more expensive than other cinemas, but you get your money's worth. I have been to other Everyman cinemas and enjoyed the VIP treatment, but in this instance, I found my seat very hard to get comfortable in. It wasn't too hard, but it was so high off the ground that it was impossible for me to get comfortable. It might work for someone 6ft tall but for me, it just wasn't working. I would recommend not sitting in the front, I think there might be better elsewhere in the room.

It was delightful. Later saw Paddington Bear here too. The seats are very comfortable, especially the soft leather sofa. Unlike some other cinemas it's kept very clean. You can also purchase adult drinks at the bar to take into the studios.

The sign at the entrance of the ladies warns that "male and female cleaners service these facilities" but I have to conclude that neither had been near them for quite some time...at least four loos were out of order and most of the ones that weren't needed a darn good clean (I guess you have to point a large finger of blame at the manky people who don't know a) how to flush a toilet or b) that any more than about 20 sheets of loo paper is likely to lead to a serious blockage.... Added to the fact it's now damn expensive (£10.45 per adult to see the 3D Christmas Carol film) to go to the cinema I was reminded why I don't often bother these days. Far nicer to stay warm, have clean loos and cheap eats at home with a DVD!

Even when the occasional person (you know who you are!) got up to go to...wherever, the view was not blocked. There is a small candy/soda counter where they sell the tickets. The bath rooms (suprisingly) are on the ground level, as is the disabled one. This theater is really (REALLY) disabled friendly in a big way. As a disabled person I found that not only was there an elevator to take you up to the theater level, there was also a wheel chair lift to to help you get to the coffee store on the top level. There is also a wheel chair ramp to get you from the sidewalk into the theater (which most theaters don't have in this city). The staff are extremely helpful, and they are not pushy...as in trying to make you buy their membership. This was one of the first movie theaters to open in the UK. The building has remained (pretty much) unchanged since the 1930's...so it's really retro (yay!).

Come for the popcorn if nothing else. When I crave popcorn I go to the theater. Weird? Sure but…read morethat's how I do things. The popcorn here is fresh and cheap! A large was less than £4. Sah-weet. And if popcorn isn't what you're after they have a cafe upstairs, across from their single screening room. The theatre has been around for over 100 years and there's a sense of community there. People queue up when waiting to be seated and EVERYONE seems to know each other. The screening room is huge and very charming, as old buildings tend to be. Very glad this place is a short walk from my place. Especially when those popcorn cravings kick in.

You book ahead of time to get comfy lounge chairs or loveseats and can settle into watching a great indie film with a a beer in hand. The flicks are 13 quid a pop but that's about how much they cost everywhere else and you don't get fancy seats with all the rest! PERFECT date spot!
