Even when the occasional person (you know who you are!) got up to go to...wherever, the view was not blocked. There is a small candy/soda counter where they sell the tickets. The bath rooms (suprisingly) are on the ground level, as is the disabled one. This theater is really (REALLY) disabled friendly in a big way. As a disabled person I found that not only was there an elevator to take you up to the theater level, there was also a wheel chair lift to to help you get to the coffee store on the top level. There is also a wheel chair ramp to get you from the sidewalk into the theater (which most theaters don't have in this city). The staff are extremely helpful, and they are not pushy...as in trying to make you buy their membership. This was one of the first movie theaters to open in the UK. The building has remained (pretty much) unchanged since the 1930's...so it's really retro (yay!).

Sah-weet. And if popcorn isn't what you're after they have a cafe upstairs, across from their single screening room. The theatre has been around for over 100 years and there's a sense of community there. People queue up when waiting to be seated and EVERYONE seems to know each other. The screening room is huge and very charming, as old buildings tend to be. Very glad this place is a short walk from my place. Especially when those popcorn cravings kick in.

The seats in the actual cinema are soft, warm and comfy with plenty of leg room. There's a sofa aisle in the middle and back of the cinema which you can book at no extra cost. I image they're the first to go though. Bad points: There are no tables inside the cinema so they don't recommend bringing in actual dishes from the restaurant side of the cinema. Snacks and drinks are seriously expensive (but no more than any other cinema). Tickets cost £13.50 plus a £1.50 booking fee.

This is review is mainly based on the fact that it is in Crouch End which is local to me. I say…read morethis because the area, though a cultural hub for many people in industry (peep show was filmed here, Shaun of Dead house not too far away, Gillian Anderson use to live here, amongst many others still in area) never really had a cinema to go to until the wonderfully small Arthouse came along. This picturehouse is one of many in the chain. I go to the newly opened Central one now quite a bit but this new one is now my closest. It has about 5-6 screens and I went to see Bridge of Spies on screen 4. The sound could have been a tad louder and I think there was not much surround sound. Saying that I mentioned this to manager and they mentioned it would in future. I went on officially it's 4th day of opening. I was told screen 5 is a favourite because it is intimate and has only about 26 seats. Cool. I asked to see screen 1, their prize biggest screen because i might see Star Wars there soon. The seats are like sofa seats. All of them. And there are double seats. The screen was higher than usual because they have a platform ready for future Q&A's. I will go see that screen but not sure it's best for something quite as epic as Star Wars. There's a nice cafe downstairs to people watch, and a main restaurant to see even better looking down upon Main Street. All in all. I liked my it's visit. Comfy, obviously clean and nice staff. Will be back for more to check other screens too. UPDATE - DEC '15: Checked out the brand new Crouch End PH. Kicking rainy Mondays onto the curb with it's cheap tickets! Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks have made a great film with Bridge of Spies. Written by the Coen Brothers a real classic spy/war film. Love a bit of espionage! The cinema itself was lovely. Nicely laid out with cafe at bottom and many screens dotted around. I went into Screen 4 and it had good sound. Next time I will try for their main one.

Maybe independent films that are only mainly screened here. That would be good selling point. Especially since Picturehouse has virtually opened next door, which I'm big fan of. I'm also a big fan of supporting local and it's testament that this cinema has been awarded best London cinema as a show of solidarity with locals. Virtually first cinema here in truth. The service is very good and food and drink good too. thought seats were ok comfort wise just can't help but feel something is missing in terms of environment within screens. Will give it another chance to update my thoughts in coming months as last time I went for review was August 2015. So I need a reminder but since it's ArtHouse I hope to catch an Art house film to suit.

The best thing about this cinema is the food which is mostly locally sourced from nearby restaurants. They have a selection of sandwiches, cakes, ice creams, nuts and fruit snacks. The lemon drizzle cake is to die for. They also have a fully stocked bar to meet any of your drinking needs. Arthouse is good if you're looking for a homely feeling kind of cinema but the seats were just so uncomfortable I just wanted to get out of there by the end of the film. It probably didn't help that the film was spectre which I found long and super boring!

The cinema is located excellently, just off the broadway, with parking spaces behind, and plenty of shops and restaurants around for pre/post film stuff! Good! It shows films for only a week sometimes, desperate to have the next big film, you don't always get a chance to see the last one. Bad! It has a kiddie club at weekends! Good if you need I guess! It has three screens. Good... or so you'd think! Seriously, don't bother going if your film isn't on screen 1. Screen 2 is like watching a film on the projector in the hall at assembly, and screen 3 is like watching a film on the projector in class. That said, Screen 1 is huge. Good! But what a waste of space, the seats are miles from the screen for no apparent reason. The love seats are sooooooooo comfy, but expensive. The premier seats are all right I guess, not too much more than the normal, and they are closer the screen, but still couldn't stretch my legs out. The average seats are miles away and pricey (£8ish last time I went), I usually pay the tenner for premier. Pop corn is huge, as are drinks, and expensive but normal for cinema. The building is cute too, very art-deco, obviously a traditional cinema. All in all, its a cinema, it does the job if you go see the latest film straight away on screen 1. You can even choose your exact seats when you book online, I recommend always doing this, so you know if it isn't screen 1, pop across the road to blockbusters and watch something at home!

Yes the building is an Art Deco structure which adds something to the nostalgia of the silverscreen. They screen live opera and ballet too, so you've got more options than merely new releases. Unfortunately that got torn down and for years the space was eithe unused or used to hold a local market selling fruit/veg and lots of tat until they could figure out what to do with the space - and that's how the Arts depot was born. Right, history lesson over. The Arts Depot is a fantastic addition to the area. There's lots going on - plays, productions for kids, it's used as a comedy venue, there are dance/drama studios, events are put on during bank holidays/significant times of the year and there's small children's soft play area downstairs. There's a cafe in the main foyer upstairs too and there are organised activities (such as messy play) for which you pay per session for children during the week. The only negative is the parking availability which, of an evening isn't a problem, but if yo'ure attending something here during the day it's pain. There are limited spaces in the Aldi car park immediately below the venue, otherwise it's controlled parking central.

The show was sold out, which meant they packed 10,000 people in this huge room where we had to stand so far back that we couldn't see the band at all. They never should have sold that many tickets. It was so jam packed that it was hard to walk anywhere. The toilets in the ladies room barely flushed. The venue had nothing to absorb the sound on the walls so there was horrible reverb off the walls. All you could hear was the kick drum. You could barely understand what song the bands were playing. We left after a couple of songs by Sum 41 because the sound was horrible, concert was just not entertaining and there were far too many people.
