I had a thin scratch on one of the doors, and I bought a touchup kit at an auto supply store. Even when using its "pinpoint applicator" I thoroughly botched the touchup job, ending up with an ugly thumb-sized splotch that wouldn't smooth out or come off, and it ruined the truck's appearance. I expected to have to pay for repainting the entire door. But these guys were able to buff out the ugly paint glob, fill the scratch, and apply new clearcoat; the door now looks as though nothing ever happened, like new. Both the scratch and my messed up DIY paint job completely disappeared. The best part is that Phoenix Collision charged me the equivalent of a steakhouse meal, a fraction of what I was expecting. A less honest establishment would have charged me much more, and I'd have paid it without question. Thanks, Tony! I'll gladly recommend you to anyone.

We dropped off the car and came back to pick it up the next week only to find out that it had not been touched and we were never notified. Granted these were not big repairs. These were small repairs and could've been done and completed quickly, but the biggest disappointment is that all the planning had been done and assurances were given, but they did not keep their word.

Big Country Collision was very patient with me and took the time to help me understand what exactly was going on with my window and was able to get the parts I needed and have it repaired by the time I got off work the day I brought it in! They also found the best deal for parts so I wouldn't have to spend a fortune. I was able to get my window fixed for less than a 1/4 of what the other repair service was going to charge me. I'm incredibly grateful for them and being willing to help me out, even for something very simple. I will definitely come see them first if I ever need to come back for something.!

As we approached Abilene on I-20 during a cross-country trip, the rear end of our car, pulling a…read moretrailer no less, had become so noisy that we couldn't ignore it any longer. We went to a hotel and I found Proctor Automotive on Yelp. The first thing Monday morning I pulled in and asked them to diagnose the noise. It was evident that this was a very busy shop and I wondered if we might not wait around most of the day just for an estimate. The service writer was very courteous and seemed to understand the spot we were in, but said that he couldn't make any promises about turnaround time, given how busy they were. On the way back to my hotel the courtesy driver also gave me little assurance about a speedy repair and told me that Proctor had 8 full-time mechanics working 50 hours per week. Mentally I tried to accept the idea of spending several days in Abilene. No more than an hour later Proctor called with a stethoscope diagnosis that the rear pinion bearing was the source of the noise and they were going to open the cover and look inside with my OK. In another half hour I got another call saying that all the bearings in the rear end must be replaced, given the amount of metal debris they found in the oil. Still no real estimate of how long any repair would take. After another half hour, the owner himself (Jimmy) called to give me the bad and not-so-bad news. The repair was not going to be cheap, but they had located all the parts and he assured me that their rear end mechanic was a real expert who could set it up to operate like new. The best news was that they were going to do their best to get the car out that same day! Sure enough at about 4:00 p.m., I got the call that told me that my car was ready. I could have hugged them all--I guess it's a good thing that I was on the telephone and not talking face-to-face. :^\ The final report is that we put 4500 miles on the repaired rear end, still pulling a trailer, and it never gave us a moment of concern during the rest of our long trip. I was shown some pictures of some of the classic cars that they work on at Proctor. Apparently they even do some restoration work. This is no ordinary shop and they have been around for a long time in Abilene. I wish they were in my home town.

This was a 5* review originally in December 2022 after they did a good job on my Audi S4's brakes…read more Two repair jobs later: Quality: 1/5 Value: 0/5 Length in shop: 3/5 Authorized work completed: 1/5 New score: 1* I don't know what happened to their quality of work, but it's absolute garbage now, bordering on scammy. I don't know if it's under new management or just gone to hell. 1 month and $4,300 for a battery, a greasy steering wheel, and lies, without ever fixing the primary problem on a basic car. I brought in my wife's 2005 BMW 325Ci, which is a simple car to work on, unlike my S4. 1. The primary problem was a steering pump reservoir and possibly the pump that had broken (No power steering). 2. The brake light was on, presumably because of a bad sensor after a previous brake job elsewhere. 3. Battery replacement. After a month in the shop and paying $4,300 for repairs, the steering pump wasn't fixed; the power steering cut out halfway through a 6-hour trip, and I had to drive without power steering for 3 hours. The brake light is still on, and they charged me for replacing the sensor, but they either didn't do the work or didn't bother checking if that resolved the problem. Now the ABS light is on, and so is the check engine light. I should have been clued in that they didn't do the work when I picked it up covered in oil with the dash still disassembled. The freon had also leaked out, presumably while it was in storage before going to the shop, which was missed. It makes me think they just checked boxes on a charge list without actually doing the work. They charged a LOT for an inspection, which they did; they diagnosed things, many of which I approved, such as the steering problem, which they completely failed to even address, alignment issues, which seem terrible, as well as the brake light, which is still broken, and the car pulls to the right under braking now. They also recently did a brake sensor on my S4, which they put in a bad sensor, didn't check it, I drove it home, had to return, and they had to order a new one, which I now can't get back to the shop to have them complete the work, having moved 6 hours away. I wasn't going to update the review over the Audi; stuff happens, but after the BMW, I wouldn't recommend taking any car here for any reason. This is not acceptable. Twice now, and over $5,000 later, my cars came out worse after going to this shop than when they went in. They will be making this right, and as a 45-year AAA member, I will be notifying them of the horrible service because they probably shouldn't be listed as AAA-approved.
