I don't typically like to get takeout, but was in a time crunch and wanted some restaurant food. Noodle soups are always a hit or miss with takeout, but I'm glad to say their beef pho was a hit! My partner and I shared the pho, pork jerky, and mango sticky rice. As you can see, I enjoyed some of my Thai tea on the way home! Very sweet but very good. The pho broth was very savory and flavorful, and the texture of the noodles softened up with a perfect slightly chewy texture. The pork jerky was also very tasty.. crispy and the sauce reminded me of an Asian spicy chimichurri sauce. Finally, the mango sticky rice was great overall... the sticky rice was shaped into little donut like circles and was delicious. The only thing I'd change about this meal is the mango. Not bad, but I'm used to perfectly ripe mangos with my sticky rice :P The restaurant looked really cute when picking up the food and the host was really kind. Wow!!!! I am beyond happy!!!! I have to say I have eaten at this restaurant four times now!!!! Twice with my husband and I got the drunken noodles and he got the pork lo mein (both times ) also we have gotten takeout.... Spring rolls, crab, Rangoon, red curry, yellow curry, and I think it was the green papaya salad? Also the bad guy everything was really really good.!!! I took the girls there the other day and to our surprise it was Friday buffet day. !!!! that's great because you get to try everything. I highly recommend it. !!! We are from the suburbs outside of Philly, so we are on a mission to find great Pho in SE NC. So far, this place has the best broth. It's not authentic Vietnamese, had heavy garlic and not much cilantro, and the meats were a different texture. It was still tasty and on the clearer side in color. And the pork jerky app was fried very well, came with a great dipping sauce. The owner's husband, Aaron, was friendly, respectable, accommodating: waiting, bussing, and serving the whole dining area. Pho Van tucked away in a strip mall is a gem especially for their extremely well prepared and giant size bowl of pho with many varieties to choose from. Asian dishes adorn the menu and are prepared buy the owners. There is a touch of fusion as the owner is Laotion which imo has enhanced some of the Vietnamese and Thai dishes. The restaurant is spacious with an oriental decor, ambience is quiet and one gets an upscale feeling. This spot is a go to for your pho as well as other Asian foodstuff. The food is good but the costumer service has been absolutely unpleasant and unprofessional. We walk in there and immediately are told that we needed to give a 15 percent tip and called me out on how I didn't tip the last time, only because the service wasn't even worth tipping and we had been told before to tip because he had to pay his workers. If you're looking for Vietnamese food this is NOT the place. The menus on yelp are not the current menu. The only Vietnamese food on the new menu is pho and spring rolls. The new manager was nice but did not seem to know what fish sauce was. We were served a gelatinous sweet and sour sauce that he said was their fish sauce. The service was super slow, served green tea from Walmart "great value" brand $2.80 WOW! Had to ask several times for chopsticks and sauces. One person in our group ordered the orange chicken and said it had the same "fish sauce" on it. The pho was edible, similar to a typical beef broth soup but definitely not true pho (at best pho paste) and the garnish was even bad. Barely any basil and it was bruised, Jalapeños dried out. On top of all that the prices for the quality of food were outrageous. Was really looking forward to trying this place out. Extremely disappointed with the bait and switch. Finally, a really good pho restaurant! We are kind of "pho snobs," and have been disappointed with every other pho restaurant (except one) from Sneads Ferry to New Bern over the years we have lived here. Reading the recent reviews that Pho Van is under new ownership, and has fabulous food and staff, I had to give it a try as I traveled home from the airport. I ordered two beef pho and fried spring rolls to go. When I got home, the first thing I noticed was the deeply-colored broth. Wow, a change from the watery broths that we usually encounter. We got everything heated, assembled and spiced, and after several bites, we both gave Pho Van two happy thumbs up! Next time I will order an extra serving of the sprouts/limes/basil, as the to-go orders can definitely benefit from a bit more of this goodness. And the fried vegetable spring rolls were very tasty and crunchy too! If you like good pho, I highly recommend giving the new Pho Van a try. Do yourself a favor and only read reviews from about January 2024 forward, as the prior ownership was not nearly as good, but these older reviews are pulling the restaurant's ratng down. Now we have a great place when we head to the Morehead/Havelock area as well as the one (unexpected) place when we head to Jacksonville. read more

My husband and I have searched for a good Pho place (it's my absolute favorite food) and we finally found one! Great sized portions and the broth is flavorful not watery. Comparable to the Pho you'd find in a big city like DC or Denver. We ordered the chicken Pho and the shrimp Pho with tofu summer rolls. The restaurant staff was willing to customize our order to meet dietary needs. Really friendly service and our food was ready promptly. We will be frequenting here a lot in the future!! Environment still the same, very home-like and authentic to the culture while not being a gimmick. The main attraction though? The food. The dishes are well prepared. I have traveled to Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. The selections are what you would be served in any beautiful Thai home. The flavors are strong, delightful, and nicely authentic. The service is prompt and dishes are served hot. I am a frequent visitor and I have had Pho beef. I have brought all the appetizers to work for my coworkers to try the different flavors. I absolutely love the pork belly. My love enjoys his dishes super spicy. He normally orders Beef Green Curry and potstickers (dumplings). The mango sticky rice is to die for and not too sweet. Aaron and Bouavanh are a lovely couple that run a fantastic restaurant. If you like pho...no I mean if you like food period "DO NOT EAT HERE." This was the most vile,disgusting,awful, worst food I've ever been witness to. Broth tastes like it's out of a box the meat tasted like it's gone sour if you get the chicken it's just thigh meat meat with chicken fat, veins and gristle still attached. The spring rolls are just store bought frozen Mini rolls you can get at the grocery store. The noodles have been pre boiled therefore stuck together like glue and over tender "mushy." The meatballs are frozen when they throw them in so they come out tough. I don't know what this is but it's not Pho. I don't think whoever is cooking knows what they are doing cooking food much less pho. The bottom line is that I'm just a normal person who eats out on occasion and has been to some other pho places and in my humble opinion this is far and away the most disgusting restaurant I've ever been to and I'm not being personal it's just my truth. Ordered takeout from Pho Van Tuesday evening. We ordered two beef noodle pho's, an order of spring rolls and an order of summer rolls. The summer rolls were the best part of the meal as the spring rolls were over cooked and hard to bite into. Pho is one of our most favorite foods and we've ordered a ton of pho takeout in the past - they put the rare beef in the hot broth in the to-go order and by the time we got home the beef was well done, tough, and chewy. Definitely would've been better served on a piece of foil in the to-go box so we could put the beef in the broth when we got home, which is how we've had it served in to-go orders every other time we've ordered pho from other restaurants. The broth lacked flavor and was underwhelming. The service was good though. read more
