    Grilled pork vermicelli
    Long K.

Pho places around Victoria just seemed mostly average. I was really trying to avoid touristy places that overcharged and was trying to find a local joint so I ended here. I'm genuinely confused about how close things tasted to being authentic, yet so far simultaneously. Starting off with the spring rolls, the filling was definitely traditional, but the wrapper is just the generic egg roll kind vs rice paper. The fish sauce for dipping was very watery, weak and too sweet for traditional tastes. The pho broth was just ok, if anything it was lighter and less fatty without being too deeply flavored. The grilled pork (as part of the vermicelli) just needed a bit more char, otherwise the lemongrass flavor was great. The place isn't anything fancy inside. Service, although nice, is minimal. Order at the counter, self serve water, pick a table, and get your food delivered to you.

The person who took our order at the counter is so nice. I give him 5 stars for amazing customer service. We chose to seat outside and he brought food out for us, great service. This is one of the cruise port stop for us, we were in desperation for pho, no more cruise food lol. We took Uber here, 10 minutes from our dock. The Kim eggsrolls was really good, highly recommended. Pho and spring rolls is decent , I'm from San Jose , so my expectation is really high when it come to viet food lol.

Large pho with steak, brisket, tendon, tripe and oxtail

Casual, counter service, no frills, affordable restaurant serving delicious Vietnamese food. The pho bowl sizes come in regular and large. The regular size is a generous portion and large size is a huge portion for the hungry or could be shared by 2. Ordered the following: Kim's crispy rolls (ground pork, shrimp, glass noodles and veggies served with a side of fish sauce) - tasty and perfect crunch Pho with steak, brisket, tendon, tripe, oxtail - delicious, the broth was flavorful and meats and noodles were prepared well. One of the best bowls of pho I've had. Grilled lemongrass chicken rice plate - the chicken marinated with lemongrass was delicious and flavorful So glad I came across this hidden gem and would definitely come back for more pho.

Tasted great. I had Pho in Vancouver and this was just as good. Would recommend and have again.

    Chicken with hair in it

Unfortunate experience today. After we placed our order, we were informed that there was no more rice. We requested a refund, they did try to give me cash, but unfortunately we are from out of town and we had paid with our card. We asked for them to refund it back to the card, he said they couldn't because management wasn't there. Miraculously they found some rice and said they could fulfill our order. When our plate came out, the chicken had hair weaved in it. When we brought it to their attention, they didn't apologize and were not happy that we asked that they give us another piece of chicken. When they remade the chicken the rice was cold by that point and our pho was luke warm as well. Customer service was not good. Would not recommend eating here.

I ordered bánh mì today and it was just ok. The bread I don't think was fresh. Also, I think if the restaurant reduced the amount of pickled stuff and spreaded less mayo ... it would taste better. So far it has been difficult to find good Vietnamese foods in Victoria in general.

    Summer spring rolls

This is a solid pho shop. The summer spring rolls were nicely wrapped and filled with shrimp, pork, rice noodles, cucumber, and lettuce. I ordered a regular size steak pho. There was a good amount noodles, however, there wasn't any Thai basil and only a little cilantro. The broth was good not great. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. The pho really hit the spot!

I wanted a yummy bowl of pho on a cold winters day and I'm so glad we found this spot. The broth is made from scratch and spices imported from Vietnam. It did not disappoint. Full of flavour and not overly salty with real chicken. We tried two kinds of rolls and the lemongrass chicken. I definitely recommend. everyone is welcome (no vax pass required). Support local! A definite must try.

VERDICT/VALUE Not the cheapest place for Vietnamese food, but it could be considered a little more authentic than some of the nearby competition - 3.5 stars! === 2. FOOD Sugarcane Shrimp, Grilled Pork Combo ($23): It's a bun - a vermicelli bowl with shrimp mousse wrapped in sugarcane and grilled pork with a spring roll. I might skip the shrimp next time given the cost... Prawn Salad Rolls ($12): Pricey - but decent and relatively authentic; peanut sauce is chilled (if that's important to note, as some places serve it much warmer). Meatballs Pho (Large - $19): My little guy likes noodles and meatballs - this is the Vietnamese version of the Italian classic we all know :) === 3. SERVICE We were lucky - unlike some of our fellow Yelpers, we came in about 40 mins before closing time and were seated quickly and served quickly. We never felt like they were trying to hustle us out of there and the server was polite and professional. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It was a little dim with daylight running out; I assume it's fairly dim at night as I don't recall much lighting. It appears to be an older place (built in the 80's or 90's?) but relatively clean and comfortable. You could fit wheelchairs and baby strollers in here as well as groups large and small. Parking is interesting: metered parking on the street or a parking garage would be your only options.

So, I took a day off and headed to our capital city, Victoria, on a hot and sunny afternoon. After getting off the bus at Douglas & Fort and walking a couple of blocks, I arrived at the restaurant. In all honesty, the location isn't in the nicest part of town. The place itself is small, both inside and out. Inside, they were in the middle of a paint job. Outside, the dining area consisted of three picnic tables, each seating about four or so. I hadn't checked their website beforehand, but I told the cashier it was my first visit from Vancouver. She suggested three of their "most popular" dishes, all priced at $18. I chose the Sweet & Sour Pork Belly with Rice. Most entrées seemed to start at $15 and up. I opted to dine outside, given the beautiful weather. The cashier directed me to a self-serve counter for water, condiments, and cutlery, and suggested I sit at the far left by the wooden railing since other tables were occupied. When my food was ready, she called my name. The presentation was nice, but for $18 the portion seemed small -- six small pieces of pork belly, with two pieces being almost entirely fat. The green beans (about 14 pieces, four inches long) were fresh and bright green, not overcooked, and the sauce was fine. Unfortunately, the biggest letdown was the temperature -- lukewarm at best. Even the rice wasn't hot. The menu promised crispy skin, but mine was soft. While the pork was tender, it lacked the crispness you'd find at a good Chinese BBQ meat shop. Adding to the disappointment, the outdoor seating was right beside a parking lot of a liquor store where people smoked and chatted. The smell of cigarette smoke made it hard to enjoy my meal, so I ate quickly and left. It's a semi-self-serve setup, with a tray for returning dirty dishes like in fast-food places. Another note: I paid cash but wasn't given a receipt -- my oversight, since cash payments save them merchant fees. This place might have its fame, but for me, it was overpriced and the atmosphere was not conducive to a relaxing meal. Hot dishes should be served hot, regardless of the weather. Taste-wise, I'd give my dish 3/5. Value: 2/5. Sadly, it's a "one-and-done" visit for me.
